Hey, everyone, it's Nate Ortiz.
This is Walking in Power.
And I just want to give a short teaching to you.
I'm talking about your mind, right?
Understanding your mind as a person of faith,
as a believer.
Many times, people can swing the pendulum too far
just saying, yeah, you need to have more faith
or you need to just be in that place.
And they don't look at the side of the mind
that's dealing with mental health
in just different areas of growth.
That maybe you see a counselor, a licensed therapist,
or whatever that may look like.
Then there's other people where they just like more and more
there, if you've been on really addressing
the spiritual side of these things.
And so, but I want to talk more specifically
about the mind and regards to how you approach
different battles in your life.
And so I want to be on a second Corinthians chapter 10
verses four and five.
It says, for the weapons of our warfare
are not of the flesh, but the vitally powerful
for the destruction of fortresses.
We're destroying arguments and all arrogance,
race against the knowledge of God,
and we're taking every thought captive
to the obedience of Christ.
Everything in our lives that happens,
we begin to run it through the fields of our mind.
We begin to say,
may as a tragedy that happened,
and we can play it over and over.
And there's this, part of us as humans
that we feel like if we just play it over and over again,
at some point get to peace with it,
that we're also gonna be okay with it.
And obviously that's not how it goes.
Sometimes the more you play in your brain,
the more it stirs things up in your own heart
or your own life.
And if you really don't get that healing you're looking for.
And I think there's other people who just ignore it all together
and not even really deal with it
and process what happened to them.
Because I think you need to find that place in between.
It says that did happen, but it doesn't define me.
And it's not gonna damage me,
but I'm gonna say I'm moving forward with Christ
to be my most healthy version of myself.
And in life, we'll see attacks come in lots of different way.
There's a term that people use,
even like spiritual warfare,
that there's spiritual warfare against your life.
There's things that are coming against you
and you're living for God and you're doing the right things.
But it still seems like there's just an attack on your life.
And truthfully, when you're living your life,
the way that you're supposed to be with God,
this is gonna be things that come against you.
That's where God's strength and you
and encourages you.
And I wanna just focus on this thought
in this passage scripture where it talks about
destroying arguments and arrogance,
coming against the knowledge of Christ.
That you have to understand that God has given you
the ability that says every day that we are transformed
by the renewing of our mind,
that we have to take everything that we think about.
We have to take every thought.
And we have to say God, I want to come against anything
that's coming against the knowledge of who you are in my life.
So there will be things that people will tell you,
but if it doesn't match with the Bible,
you have to be able to say we are destroying the arguments
and we are destroying the arrogance.
Because if people could be arrogant,
they feel like I had it all figured out
and I don't need God and I don't need this
and that's arrogance and you don't want any part of that.
You don't want any part of arguments.
But you wanna say God allowed me to have peace.
You know, Bible tells us that he will keep him
at perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Jesus.
You wanna keep your mind focused on what his word saying
about your life, about your situation.
And the other part that it says is it talks about
taking every thought captive.
It's amazing when you look at what people watch on TV
or what they let themselves view on social media.
It's amazing.
Your thoughts can run rampant.
Your ability to process things appropriately
really can go just to the wayside.
Think about this in your day.
How often you think about situations.
Maybe it's something happened to you throughout your day.
Your work day, maybe it's in a relationship that you're in.
How do you process those things?
Do you typically just think about the negative things
that have happened and you put the positive things
that have happened and just put them on a scale
to say was this a good day or was this a bad day?
No, I think when the scripture's talk about
taking every thought captive, it's say how do you, I?
How do I take every thought, not let it run my life?
By said I'm taking this thought that I had
and I'm running through the filter of what God word says.
You can't let just thoughts run your life
and emotions run your life.
It's a terrible way to go about your every day
when you let those things run
because you'll just be totally emotionally driven
high one day, low the next.
But when you can say I'm really consistent
and what God is speaking to me and what God is saying to me,
that's really really giving take your thoughts captive.
Don't let the negative thoughts grab a hold of you.
Right, how that positive self-talk within yourself,
right, that I even tell people
sometimes you have to even pray for yourself.
Right, that you've been in the pray for the thoughts
that are in your minds.
God helped me direct my focus and my attention.
I always tell people to another great way
to even help your mind is to be able to memorize scripture.
When you memorize scripture,
you're putting yourself in a place to say,
these negative thoughts are always bombarding me.
But if you don't have anything to replace
those negative thoughts with, like scripture,
then it's always just gonna bombard you.
In fact, the dodged, you can have the shielded
or just try to even numb yourself to the pain
and you don't wanna live your life,
we'll go through that.
So listen, remember that your effectiveness,
your power is in prayer, right, reading a word,
you pray the scriptures, you are in a place of saying,
I'm not just waiting for church on Sunday,
but you say, I understand that my battle that I fight,
it's happening when I pray, things begin to shift
and even God begins to shift me, but most importantly,
you are in a life into a God wants to do in your life.
So when you think about your mind and waging war
and all that's going on, listen, remember,
that you need to be in that place to say, all right,
how am I battling these negative thoughts?
Am I just taking them and just like I put them on a scale?
No, no, you don't wanna live your life that way,
but secondly, you wanna say,
what am I doing to replace these negative thoughts
or these things that I play over and over again?
You want to live your life by God's truth,
not the world's truth, because world truth
is always gonna be changing, always gonna be shifting,
but God's word is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Hey, I'll be having a great day, I'll talk to you all soon.
And thank you for your time.
And thank you for your time.
