Count money, man. Money that grits is fine.
I told trying to told him I'm a beast.
But what's up, gang?
We'll get to the grind cast.
Stop it.
There is here. Get ready to do.
New day.
New day.
What's up?
Thanks for joining us on another episode of the grind cast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
And let's talk about how we could, how we could go to the next level.
Let's just improve a little bit today.
Let's look at some of our weaknesses and how we could make those better and, in turn,
those end of strengths.
So, when you look at some of the greatest players in the world, you know, you look at
Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, LeBron James, you know, I think the difference between people
that have the ability that are good and go to hall of fame levels and the people that
have the ability that are good that just stay good as that the great ones, the goats,
they continue to work on their game.
They find a way to work on their game.
You know, I look at Michael Jordan back in the day.
And I remember when Mike, as he got older, you know, maybe he lost a half a step, but
he kept winning, kept winning titles, kept, he would work on the fade away.
You know, anybody that followed his career, watched him get better at shooting from the outside,
watched him get better, watched him create the fade away.
And you know, when you watch Kobe, you could see a lot of Jordan in Kobe's game where Kobe
must have studied a little bit of Mike.
You look at Tom Brady as he continues to get older in his 40s.
I mean, my dude's creeping up on his mid 40s, still playing a game at a high level.
He's found ways to get better and combat the father time that nobody can stop.
He's found ways to focus on weaknesses in his game and make him a little bit better to
get an edge.
And so how can this pertain to you and I?
How can this pertain to our life, to our business?
What is it that you're doing?
I know there's a lot of different listeners out here, but let's look at every year picking
out a few weaknesses that we can improve on so we can keep on growing.
And so even though you want to focus on your strengths, you know, I'm a huge believer
in doubling down on your strengths, you know, it would make no sense.
We got to be smart about this.
Okay, it would be make no sense in me trying to get better at my post game in basketball
when I'm five foot seven.
Okay, so you got to be smart about what you're going to choose that your weak at that you
want to get better at.
Work on your strengths.
Don't neglect the strengths.
Double down on the strengths, whatever you're good at, keep pouring time and energy and
more energy into what you're already good at.
At least a two to one ratio, putting more stuff into what you're good at and what you're
already good at and developing that, then you're putting into your weaknesses, but you've
got to put some time and energy into your weaknesses and even look at what the payoff
could be.
What's going to give you the biggest return and reward on your investment?
When you look at working on your weaknesses, it's uncomfortable.
But a lot of times it's necessary.
So we can't take this doubling down on our strengths too far.
Like if you wanted to be great in basketball, sticking with that analogy, maybe you need to
get better with your left hand to dribble or left hand to shoot a layup.
You can ignore that and just double down on your strengths, but at some point that's going
to hurt you and all the greats are capable of dribbling with their left hand and being
good with that left.
So working on your weaknesses is uncomfortable for all of us.
What are the things that we need to point out that we're weak at that we got to work on?
None of that is ever going to be comfortable.
It's so easy to avoid working on your weaknesses because it's uncomfortable.
Whether it's, you know, try brushing your teeth with your left hand.
You ever get hurt?
You know, I hurt my, I blew my bicep out this year, tore my bicep tendon and I had to
do a lot of things with my left hand for a while.
And it was awkward.
Uncomfortable.
It's time it got better.
So when you first start transitioning into working on your weaknesses, it's uncomfortable.
It's not as much fun.
It's why it's great.
Stuff that takes you to the level, to the next level, a lot of the times isn't what you
feel like doing, isn't what you want to do.
In order to work on your weaknesses and acknowledge your weaknesses, you have to be in a mindset
of humility.
Humble yourself.
That you could always get better.
It's hard to keep growing yourself if you're always patting yourself on the back.
You could always be better.
Stay in a mindset of growth mode by staying in a mindset of humility.
Humbling yourself to know that somebody else out there is better.
Somebody else out there is trying to catch me.
There's a way that I could do this better.
I got to keep growing.
Keep that as the mindset.
Something else that's going to help you when you're working on your weaknesses is you
got to seek out coaches and ask them for their opinions of what your weaknesses are.
You'll see a quarterback, what a quarterback coach.
The quarterback and the quarterback coach are watching film and they're breaking down
what is that person's weakness.
Even if you're the greatest fighter in the world, you may need a coach just looking at
you watching you say it techniques off over here to get a little bit better over here.
Find someone that's good in that specific area to develop you in that one area.
For example, kids doing good in school, but they're weak in social studies.
You can't just fail social studies.
You can't just get an F, but maybe that's not something you want to major in in college.
Maybe that's not something you want to go to school for.
If you ever want to go to school at all, it might not be what you...
But right now we got to work on that weakness a little bit.
So maybe you need individualized one on one tutoring sessions with somebody that that's
their deal.
So you have to seek it out from other coaches that can give you their opinion on what you're
weak at.
Then you need to seek out other coaches that may be good at that specific area and allow
them to coach you.
The other thing in improving on your weaknesses is it takes a lot of repetition.
Let me give you an example.
If your plan basketball and one of your weak points is free throws, write down your
game plan and the game plan probably needs to be a certain amount of repetition.
Everything in life is repetition.
How many reps can you do this to make yourself comfortable?
When you could perform under extreme, you ever see someone perform under extreme, not
even adversity, but just extreme circumstances and they just look so calm.
Like a golfer.
I don't even watch golf, but once in a while I watch golf and I see these guys up there
and it's like there's thousands of people huddled around the green watching these people.
And they're just out no problem waving everybody picking up their thing.
They've wrapped it so many times.
You wouldn't be that nervous if there was a million people watching you and they said,
hey, count to 10, Joe.
Count to 100, Joe.
We can handle that.
And so it's because you've wrapped it for so long, so many repetitions.
And so if you want to, if you want to wrap that, you got to look it in this example.
If I want to get better at free throws, I'm going to write it down and I'm going to shoot
100 free throws a day, five days a week.
That might be something that you put down on paper.
What is it in your business or your line of work or what you're trying to get better at
that you could say, okay, here's my game plan.
I'm going to write it down.
Maybe your spouse told you you're unappreciative.
Maybe you got to grow in that area.
Maybe you write down, look, my goal is to show appreciation.
Or say appreciation three days a week, once a week, whatever it is, write it down and then
wrap it, wrap it, wrap it, wrap it.
How many reps is it going to take for you to make this comfortable for you?
Look at what is it that you can develop in your mindset that's going to make you better?
Because sometimes people just focus on their skill set and you do got to look at your skill
set.
Are you weak at that you can get better at that would bring you big results.
But don't ignore the mindset.
What is it in your mindset maybe that you could point out and it doesn't need to be overwhelming
50 different things.
But maybe you just know you're a negative person and you write down five days a week, I'm
going to focus on saying something positive.
Every time that negativity comes into my mind, I'm going to spit it out and start over
and get something positive.
I'm going to speak positive words into my life.
I don't know what it is.
But for each individual, look at what is it in your mindset?
What is it in your skill set?
What is it in your professional life?
Maybe you want to focus on something getting better at.
Maybe you need to get better at something in your personal life.
What habits in your personal life right now do you need to stop?
What habits in your personal life do you need to pick up?
Maybe you say I want to start going to church twice a month.
Right now I'm drinking five days a week.
I only want to drink two days a week and have a couple drinks socially.
What are the things in your personal life that you could write down that you could stop
or that you could pick up that need to help you that'll grow you personally as an individual?
I know somebody that was trying to cut down on smoking and what he's currently doing is
he only has one cigarette a day and he does it at night.
At night, that's like his time to relax and unwanted.
I mean, I give him a lot of credit.
There's people out there that couldn't even get that far.
He'll go all day looking forward to that and he's doing it.
So what is it in your personal life that you could grow even if it's just one thing,
one small thing.
If you could just keep picking up every couple months, every six months or every year,
a couple things that you can get better at.
And then as you're trying to find what are the areas that I want to pick out that I
can get better at, better weaknesses, think about what's going to give you the biggest
return on investment.
What if you got better in this in your personal life?
What if you can't do 10 things?
What one or two things in your relationship would give you a good return?
What in your personal life if you stopped doing or started doing, you added these couple
things to your game would give you a better, happier life or a healthier life or a more
of a return.
What over here can you do in your business that these one or two things, if you got better
in these two areas, it would give you the greatest return on your investment.
That could go to sports or professionally.
Let's say you think, oh man, it's in the goal line, last 10 yards of football, if I
got great here, instead of scoring field goals, seven out of 10 times, I scored touchdown,
seven out of 10 times, that would drastically affect our team.
Well let's start working on the last 10 yards then because that'll give you a drastic
effect.
Do you pick that over something 40 yard field goals?
Yeah, I don't know what it is.
But think of if you can only, if you're going to pick one or two, what's going to give you
the biggest bang for your buck, the biggest return on what it is that you want to do?
And I think if you can do those things, you'll start moving in the right direction.
I think a reason why people don't work on their improvement of their weaknesses a lot
of times is they're overwhelmed by how many things they want to improve.
Or they're afraid to start something because they know they don't have the discipline that
it takes to finish it.
And for those folks out there, I want to encourage you to do something.
If you know that in 2020, you want to work out and you want to join the everybody that
starts this stuff in January and then nobody's there by April.
But if, let's say you want to get in better shape and you know you need to go five days
a week, don't get intimidated by five days a week.
How about if you went one day a week in the first month, is that going to kill you?
Then maybe the second month, you go to two days a week.
Within the third month, you go to three days a week and you stay there for the whole second
quarter.
Maybe by the third quarter, you got enough of a rhythm.
You go to four days a week and by the end of the year, you're up at five days a week.
Give yourself time to get better.
If you went from working out one day.
week to two days a week. You had a hundred percent growth. If you're eating like crap seven days a week,
try to eat clean two days a week. Pick them Monday, Tuesday. Get you sit at, go to four days a week.
Work your way to five days a week where you could look forward to all right, I'll eat like crap
a little bit on the weekends, but I'm gonna eat good Monday through Friday and work up and build up
to those things. Whatever you want to get better at this year, first of all find something to get
better at. You can't just go into next year, think you're accidentally gonna get better. I want you
to identify where you want to get better personal life, professional life, whatever it is, write it down,
don't be scared and then start somewhere in the process of where you would like to be.
If you did zero working out in 2019 and you worked out one day a week every week in 2020,
I would be happy for you. That's a victory. You didn't do nothing. Then you get into the following
year, you go to three days a week, you went from one to three, that's three hundred percent growth. I'm
proud of you. You move it in the right direction. Stop being paralyzed by what you can't do or you're
not prepared to do yet and do something. Take action. You wanted to quit smoking instead of doing
nothing, instead of go from a pack of day to a pack every two days. Sick there until you can
handle it. You're used to it. You got to discipline there. Go to a pack every three days. It's a process.
Each level that you go up in life is going to require a better version of you. Each level that you
want to go up in life is going to require a better version of you and you got to keep the mindset of
either you're closing the gap on other people or other people are closing the gap on you. You
ever hear somebody say, well, you're going to have to get up real early if you want to fool me. Take
the mindset of people that are trying to close the gap on you. They better get to grind in real
hard if they plan on closing the gap on me. That's what I imagine. Bella chicken Brady doing.
They got to be working so hard to keep in that gap that they're like, man, God bless them if
they're willing to because I know people that play for the Patriots and they told me Tom Brady would
be beating the rookies to the locker room all the time watching film already working out five
something in the morning when the rookies that are just trying to make it can't beat Tom the goat.
Each level that you go up requires a better version of yourself. Close the gap on your goals.
Close the gap on your dreams. Don't let your dreams and goals get further away from you. Go grab it
while you're working on your weaknesses. Let me remind you not to neglect your strengths.
The strengths I told you got to focus and zone in on them strengths too. You got to keep on improving
and keep them strengths tight but add a couple things to your gain in the process of greatness.
Keep a humble spirit. Keep a teachable spirit. You're already doing it because you're listening to
the grind cash. You're taking Tom out of your day to think that you could get better from listening
to me and that's humbling. It fires me up. It motivates me. It keeps me on my game. It makes me want
to keep on growing because there's some people out there. Somebody out there that thinks that by
investing 20 minutes of their day with me today they got a chance to get better. You could have
did anything else in the world and you chose to spend that time with me and I appreciate that.
If there's anybody out there that you know that can benefit from this, can you do me a favor on my
mission to help more people and reach more people and share it with them. Let them know about this.
Make sure they subscribe, comment. If you've been listening for a while, at least give me a shout out.
Give me a shout out somewhere. Tag me in something. Give me five stars, some type of comment or something
out there. Give me some love. People, I appreciate you. Have a good day. Thanks for joining me on another
episode of the Groncast. Get ready as a new day. Count money, man. Money back riches. I'm trying
to hold it. I'm a beast.
