Let It Fuel You
Show notes
We all know Event + Response = Outcome. When the Event is something negative, your Response needs to be to channel in and let it fuel you! How do you handle haters? How do you handle adversity? If you let it fuel you, chances are you’re gonna get the best Outcome.

Count money, man.
Stacked riches.
I'm trying to told him I'm a beast, but...
What's up, gang?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
And I just...
I want to encourage you at times...
in your journey, in your come-up...
of whatever is your pursuit to greatness...
there's going to be.
I don't know why.
Because I really can't think of a time
that I'm not trying to make myself out to be a perfect person.
But I really can't think of a time where I wanted to focus my energy...
and time on pulling somebody else down...
that was going to try to accomplish something good.
Even if they hurt me or bothered me,
like I just never gave it any energy to want to...
pull other people down.
But you're just...
in my experience of coaching others.
I'm not even going to talk about only myself.
Just coaching other people to be successful.
There's going to be people that intentionally want to see you fail...
and try to pull you down...
and try to be a part of a process for whatever reason...
that stops you from going to whatever level...
that you're trying to pursue...
and understand...
that could be one of the most motivating things in your life...
if you allow it to.
There's two approaches to this...
and I respect both approaches.
One approach is...
what people say or do...
doesn't motivate me one way or another...
because they don't matter.
What they say or do...
doesn't make me any more motivated...
doesn't make me any less motivated.
Me on the flip side...
I've always for whatever reason...
found extreme motivation...
and when other people have tried to tear me down.
I just don't...
I don't know why, but that seems to be a way...
that I get the most out of myself.
So I go with it and use it as fuel.
But there's going to be points in your life...
where you got to like rebuild yourself...
right in front of the people...
that thought that they broke you.
And you got to use it as motivation.
You got to use it as a...
as a place of...
fuel on that journey...
whether the journey is six months,
twelve months, two years...
whatever it is.
Now you can do that...
from a place of humility...
not from a sense of ego.
Like to me...
all I could do is speak on my own experiences.
To me personally...
what will keep me humble in the pursuit of still having that fire...
for that is just understanding that...
I'm nothing without God's grace.
So without God's grace...
without the Lord's grace...
on my life...
there's times that I've failed...
there's times that I've made mistakes in life...
and I've had to ask for forgiveness...
and I'm not a perfect person.
So just starting from that place of...
really is...
I give it to God...
but on the process...
things that...
in the things you've got to work for...
there's going to be things you've got to work for...
that you've got to do...
that you don't feel like doing...
and there's going to be moments in those times...
where you've got to motivate yourself somehow...
to do the things that you don't want to do...
and one of the things that you can do...
is just use this motivation...
to things that...
you use to build yourself a big old house.
So that's just one thing on my mind.
The other thing is...
on this...
on the situation of hate...
I feel like this needs its own...
section...
its own podcast...
but we were talking to a young man who...
got so much talent...
and...
his dad...
is super successful...
and so the young man says...
hey I was asking this other company...
you know I was...
in interviews with this other company...
and I asked them about you...
and they were talking about one of our star players...
and they said...
I was asking them about this person...
and all...
they did was bash that person...
they were knocking the person...
knocking the company...
talking bad about everybody...
and other people...
and he said...
one of the biggest interview questions...
that I use...
his dad was saying...
that my biggest interview questions...
when I'm trying to pick up talent...
is like my two automatic nose...
is...
if you've had...
more than two jobs...
in five years...
that's a no...
and I think that's because...
it basically shows you're a blamer...
and you're just blaming everywhere...
that you go...
and then he said...
if they talk bad...
real bad about other people...
or if they talk bad about their last company...
and so I think that...
that can tell you a lot about people...
and I think a lot of people can learn to grow in that area...
but...
I'm telling you...
on your way up...
to the point...
that you're at different levels...
what I've learned...
is it's hard for you to really go to the top...
happily...
and prosper the right way in life...
you may make some money...
but I've seen people that won't clap for other people...
when they're having success...
and a lot of times...
most of the time...
those are the people that it never gets to be their turn...
like if you can't clap for others...
and be happy and respect the process...
that they went through without just turning into a hater...
for every time that somebody does something positive...
you know...
you got hate towards those people...
typically...
it doesn't always...
come out your term...
and your turn...
and then what happens is...
typically in life...
you're not going to find too many people that are haters...
like...
you're not going to find a hater...
that's doing better than the person that they're hating on...
typically...
typically...
right?
so...
it's going to be people that wish that they were in that position a lot of times...
another thought process...
and these are all just my random thoughts today for you...
it's exhausting to be great...
it could be exhausting...
to be great...
you got to understand this came from a mentor of mine...
when I was asking them...
how did you accomplish all these great things in leadership...
and you're telling me all these things that you were doing...
and all these meetings...
and all these people...
and they said...
it's exhausting...
it's exhausting to be great...
you just got to figure out how great you want to be...
and so out there...
if you're listening to this...
and you're exhausted...
and the pursuit of going to get what it is that you want to go get...
to understand and tell yourself...
it's exhausting to be great...
that's why most people don't get to be great...
because it's exhausting...
and they don't want to do that type of stuff...
you got to go out there and get it...
even when you don't feel like it...
like...
I think when you really start to separate yourself...
is when you can play...
hurt in life...
of like...
when it's hurting you...
and you still got to come to play...
it's hurting you...
something in life is going on in your personal life...
in your heart...
but you still got to go come to play...
for your family...
you still got to come to play in business...
you still find a way to come to play in business...
when you're hurt...
mentally, emotionally...
when you're hurt...
this is how you start to separate yourself...
is because you still play through that pain...
you know I saw something somewhere...
and it said...
champions are angry...
champions are angry...
Tom Brady was angry...
the best quarterback in the history of the football...
in the history of NFL football...
sixth or seventh round draft pick...
think sixth round draft pick...
12 or 13 quarterbacks pick before him...
and the NFL draft was never...
wasn't like a superstar...
he was pissed off...
he didn't have any special...
crazy like speed...
gifts like...
way bigger than everybody else...
way stronger arm...
way faster than everybody else...
Michael Jordan...
cut from his high school basketball team...
pissed off...
chip on his shoulder...
angry...
Mike Tyson...
angry...
you look at a lot of...
a lot of champions...
and I know I'm picking out sports...
but I think in my opinion...
if you ask me...
how long is it worth to pick and what happens about it?
I think I'm trying to play on your shoulder...
whether it's other people doubting you
or something that somebody else did to you...
find in this fire...
in you...
from all these things...
the front-end muy was telling me...
hey man...
he had to rehab all the way back...
people didn't think he was going to make it
back...
came back wasn't even getting the
plan time that he wanted to get.
I mean, it's like going through
the struggle and right before he ended
up working into a starting spot and
right before his first scrimmage,
he broke down in tears and it was
like, why are you crying, man?
He's not a type of cat to cry.
Why are you crying?
You're like, I don't know.
Just heeded a moment right now.
Just and I'm like, we know,
we know what it is.
It's your angry, you're in pain.
This is this, you're excited,
but what you're what's happening is
all that you're looking back on all
the things you had to go through to
get to this very moment, all the
things you had to fight through,
all the things that you had to heal
on, all those things and now we're
and now we're here.
This is the stuff that that's going
fuel you and burn you if you allow it
to. That's why they say we don't
kill you only makes you stronger.
Greatness is going to bring you
got to be able to deal with pain and
greatness.
So deliberate suffering is the
price of greatness.
Deliberate suffering is the price of
greatness to be great.
You got to suffer.
There's going to be hardships and
obstacles that you got to go through
at times it feels unbearable.
And you deliberately go ahead and
go ahead and put yourself in that
situation because you know it's the
only way to grow.
That's how you grow.
That's the price of greatness.
And I think the way to condition
yourself for that is how many times
in a week, how many times in a month
can you deliberately make yourself
suffer when you're comfortable.
When it's not that bad, you deliberately
make yourself so you can start to
mentally get yourself prepared when
it's out of your control and it's
time for you to suffer for the price
of greatness.
It's about when you're going through
those suffering moments, then what?
Then what are you going to do?
It's them what?
That's where the greatness is at is
after at the then what.
This happened to you them what?
This is the feeling you feel them what?
This is what happened them what?
You feel hurt, you feel pain and them what?
How do you handle that?
The champions right now, they recycle
that they use that as fuel.
Now understand this, like I'm great
for I'm closing out and I'm saying man
as always, I thank you for 15 minutes
of your life you invested into us.
So I'm going to drop this dime on you
and end it with gratitude.
Remember when entitlement is high,
gratitude is low.
When entitlement is high, gratitude is low.
We want to be around, we want to be grateful people.
We want to be around grateful people.
That means we can't be entitled.
We can't feel this sense of entitlement.
But just remember that quote, ponder on it,
meditate on it a little bit.
When entitlement is high, gratitude is low.
And I'm grateful.
I know I'm not entitled to the last 15 minutes of your life
here.
So we appreciate you joining us.
Hey, do us a favor.
If you could share this message with anybody,
if you thought it had any value to your life,
you think anybody could benefit from it.
Go ahead and send it to them.
And we'll see you guys next week.
And as always, we appreciate you joining us
on another episode of the Grand Cascade.
Get ready as a new day.
