Count money, man.
I'm not rich.
I'm trying to talk, trying to talk to my beast, but...
What's up gang?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grimecast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
And today we're going to talk about not quitting and not giving up.
So my mind got sparked on this one recently.
I saw a young man speaking to some of our people out in Chicago.
And as I started to look up and research who, Tristan, got collaborating with us a little bit,
it's a sales guru.
And one of the things that he was talking about on one of the clips that I checked out was when your kids say to you as an example.
Okay, let's say you take your family to Disney and your kids are saying thank you and people are saying thank you to you.
What they're really saying thank you for is for you not quitting.
What they're really saying thanks for is you not giving up.
And so look at some things in your life that you're able to do for others, for your family.
If you're in leadership for people that you lead.
But when they say thank you, really what they're saying thank you for is thanks for not quitting when things got difficult.
And man, I thought that was a great way to put it and a lot of truth in that.
Because somewhere along the lines of when you get started to climbing this journey of trying to get better, trying to become more,
trying to become all that you were called to be.
There's a lot of roadblocks, there's a lot of obstacles, there's a lot of adversities, there's a lot of naysayers,
there's a lot of mental conversations that you've got to have with yourself to keep yourself in the game.
And quitting, you know, is something that kind of starts subtly, it starts creeping into your mind subtly.
And then all of a sudden you act on it, it's that negative voice in your mind telling you that you're not going to overcome.
You're not going to make it the negativity starts to weigh out the positive voices in your mind until eventually you ring the bell and you tap out.
What I know is that if you're on a journey for greatness, if you're trying to become all that you can be, there's going to be points where you're going to be pressed, pushed, kicked, spit on, talked about, knocked down.
It's what you do after those moments that really dictates the success level.
You got to look at it, you know, they say success is a journey.
And it's not about what you get, it's about who you become on that journey.
And so part of becoming is being able to learn how to talk to yourself
because your mind and your body, you know, I think we as humans, they've had studies on it where we're more wired to look at the negative, we're more wired to fear, to look at things from a place of fear as a defense mechanism.
That's just the makeup of our body and who we are.
So that re re wiring of our brain and of our mental system that's that's having the positive conversations with you of yes, you're going to make it everything's going to be fine.
Trust in the process, trust in the journey, trust in God, put as much work in as you possibly can and then just lift your hands up and say to.
To whoever it's supposed to go to whatever it's supposed to happen, let the chips fall where they may I'm going to control whatever it is that I can control and I believe that if I control everything that I can control with a positive attitude and maximum effort.
That good things are going to happen.
And so there's all this stuff that has to happen that typically is more of an internal game and a mental game than it is a physical game.
And so you're going to you're going to want to quit any any time that you're going to the next level any time that you're pushing through.
You're going to have obstacles in adversity where things cross your mind about giving up.
And so you got to remind yourself on that journey of five years from today, 10 years from today, people are going to be thanking you for certain things that you're able to do for them.
Certain things that you're going to be able to provide.
But only if you don't give up.
We talked about success being a journey, right?
So if 100 people start out on the race of wanting success in all reality, how many of those people do you think you're going to finish that journey?
If you're talking about 5% that's 5 out of 100. If you're talking about 1% that's 1 out of 100, whatever it is that you're doing, you got to look at yourself and ask yourself, do I want to be in the top 5% of my industry?
Do I want to be in the top 1% of my industry?
Whatever is the percent you want to be in your industry, you got to look at that as a part of the journey of, I want to be in the top 1%.
That means out of 100 people, only one would be in the top 1%.
So there's things on that journey that make the other 99 people do what? Make some quick.
There's things on that journey that are going to happen. Otherwise, we get to the end of the race.
And if there's 40 people, all of a sudden if there's a pile of success or a pile of money or a pile of gold or a pile of whatever, it gets divided up by 40 people.
And then there's not as much value to it. The reason why there's value to being in the top 1% is that it's difficult to be in the top 1%.
So out of those 100 people, they only got to give it to you. Out of those 1000 people, they only got to give it to 10.
Think about it. You want to be in the top 1%. We're talking about, we're going to get started here.
And there's going to be 1000 people on this journey. And 10 are going to make it to that level.
What you'll find is the people that make it to that level. It's not the smartest people, although it helps to have intelligence.
It's not only the hardest working people, although it does help to work hard. Big time. That's a key one.
It's going to have people that are smart. It's going to have people that work really hard in it.
But the main separator is going to be the 10 out of the 1000, they have perseverance.
In perseverance would be cool if you didn't need perseverance, just like miracles would be cool.
But think about this, when do you need a miracle? Miracles only happen when you need a miracle. When do you need a miracle?
We don't want it to come down to the last shot of the game, but that's where legends are made.
We don't want it to come down to the Hail Mary. I'm in Pittsburgh. We don't want it to come down to the Immaculate Reception.
But that's how you make history. That's how they're still talking about you.
Franco Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers, that place still shown today, well if they didn't need a miracle,
it wouldn't be separated as one of the best plays in the history of the game.
So there's going to be moments where you need a miracle.
And the miracle always starts with faith and belief. Part of what you're going through is part of the process that's testing you.
It's not your company testing you. It's not your manager testing you. It's life testing you.
It's this world that we live in is just life is saying, let's see how bad this this young lady really wants it.
Let's see how bad this young man really wants it. Let's see how bad they want it.
Everybody wants it when it's smooth.
It's easy to want it when you're in a good mood. It's easy to want it when the sun is shining.
Let's see how bad they want it when they lose and then they lose again.
Let's see how bad they want it when people are kicking them while they're down and they not getting knocked down and people are still kicking them.
Let's see how bad they want it when the odds are stacked against them, the chips are stacked against them.
How long can you hold on? How long can you be strong? That's what toughness is.
Quitting is about having a little bit of mental toughness. How long can you stay strong? Do you have endurance?
We've all been in situations where we see somebody that has a good season. They have a good year in business.
So they have a good season in sports. But over a 10 year run, they don't play up to their potential.
Some people officially quit. Some people quit on themselves. They quit on the levels of greatness that they could achieve and they stay in the place of comfort.
Because anytime that you're going to get outside of that element and you want to grow, you have to leave your place of comfort.
You can't steal second base with your foot on first base. We got to run and we got to get uncomfortable.
And we got to believe and we got to have faith and we got to slide. Winners never quit and quitters never win.
Old school, but it's so true. One thing you'll never find is the people at the top. Nobody at the top when they get interviewed. They say, hey, how did you do this? They say, well, I just, I just, things got difficult.
So I just gave up. It's the opposite. You'll find the winners at the top. They don't quit. They have stories of perseverance. They have stories of times where they were down and they found a way to find a strength necessary to go to the next level.
When it gets difficult, you got to change your perspective. The perspective is is this. You know, I saw this old. There was something I saw a quote about.
Man, if you're worried about why God is taking you into deep waters, maybe it's because your enemies can't swim. It's not even about the enemies because the enemy out there could do us no harm if we have no enemy within. It's about conquering yourself.
But sometimes we got to go to deep waters to see who can swim to see who could survive. To go to the next level.
So if you're having the quitting conversation, first ask yourself, what's going to happen if you stay and make it 36 months from today?
How are you going to feel if you quit? Have you started a tendency to quit things when they get difficult? Is this the first time that you're quitting or have you quit other things in the past that the more you quit things, the easier it becomes to do those things?
You're going to need that stick to it of this in your relationships. You're going to need that stick to it of this in your business. You're going to need, don't make it a habit.
And it starts with your thoughts. You ever hear it say, you know, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits and your habits form your life.
Have you have you formed the habit of quitting because it started in your mind and you can't win the battle in your mind? The quitting the quitting starts before the big quitting the quitting starts when you're telling yourself, I know what time I'm supposed to go to bed, but you don't hold to it.
So you quit on yourself. I know what time I'm supposed to get up this morning, but I don't hold to it. So you quit on yourself. It's, it's, I know how many calls I'm supposed to make, but I don't stick to it.
So I quit on myself. I have these small quitting things that I do before I before I officially quit. I quit on myself long before that in my mind and in my actions with the little things.
The reasons why people quit is because it's difficult in the process in the process isn't as sexy as the outcome. And so we get involved in businesses, we get involved in things sometimes because of the outcome, but we skip what the process and the journey is going to be like.
And so when you're in the middle of the journey and you're in the rain and it's cold and the wind is blowing and your feet got blisters, we want to quit.
But only other side of that perseveres.
is a sunny day where your feet are arrested.
No blisters, only sunshine, perfect weather, great food, great view, ocean view.
But that only happens if you can run through the mud, if you can run through the rain
when you don't give up, when you don't give up on others.
There's a time to give up on others and there's a time to stick behind people.
Half times don't last tough people do.
Don't make long-term decisions based off a temporary situation that's not going to be
like for like that forever.
We make the decisions when it's gloomy and dark outside.
Make it when everything's starting to run smooth again.
Then tell us you want to give up.
Then tell us you want to retire.
Then tell us you want to quit.
The more you pump positive mental thoughts into your mind, the better it's going to be.
For you to combat the negativity that creeps into your mind.
So I want to encourage you to be choosing to put motivation, the right people, the right
books that PB and J, that people books in Jesus.
You fill up your spirit, fill yourself up with the right people, put the right people
around you or listen to the right people on YouTube or books or whatever.
Put the right things into your mind.
So when those conversations creep in, your mind is built up because I know if you're listening
to this, you're on the grind, you're on the journey.
You're on the grind and you're on the journey.
If you're on the grind and you're on the journey, that means you probably go through tough
times once in a while.
You didn't come this far just to make it this far.
Look how far you have come.
Look at where you're at right now.
Look how far that you have come.
Imagine how far you're getting ready to go if you don't give up.
If you've already come a long way, look at all the opportunities you had to give up.
Look at all the people that gave up on the journey and you didn't give up.
Look at all the opportunities you had to tap out and you didn't tap out.
Look at all the times you wanted to, but you didn't and look at what you got from it.
Look at where you're at right now versus 10 years ago, five years ago, 15 years ago.
Look at all that stuff.
Whatever you think is going to look like 10 years from today.
Keep building the momentum.
Keep filling yourself up and don't quit on the journey.
The journey and the obstacles aren't there to stop you.
They're there to stop others that aren't serious.
They're there to make you better because it's not going to kill you.
It's only going to make you stronger.
The encouragement is to not give up, do not give up, do not give in.
You're tough enough.
You're good enough.
You're strong enough.
Kick that negativity out of your mind and keep climbing to the next level.
Thanks for joining us on another episode of The Grandcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
