Hi, this is Nate Ortiz and welcome to Walking in Power.
And I want to talk to you today about three things about finding your purpose, finding
your place and finding your passion.
And so I want to start this off by helping you understand that I think when you are walking
with God, there's times where we can look at someone's spiritual life and feel like they
are just light years ahead of me.
I don't think I'll ever be on that level.
I remember my own life feeling that way, especially when I felt this desire to be a pastor, where
I would look at people and feel like, man, they just have a knowledge of the word.
I feel like they are just walking next to Jesus.
I don't think I'll ever measure up to that.
And I remember in that time that the Lord gave me something for me and I want to share
with you, but he said, you know, Nate, no one's better than you.
There's people further than you, but no one's better than you.
And I think in our Christian walk, we have to understand that.
We may not be where we want to be, but this is where we have to every day just be faithful
and waking up and growing closer to God and growing in our own relationship with him
that when we do that, it begins to flow in other places around us and that, yeah, we might
look at someone and say, man, that's what I strive for.
You can't just rush it.
You can't force it.
But what you can do is say, yeah, they are ahead of me and that's something that I can aim
for.
And I want to walk and one day be that.
So in Colossians chapter one, I want to start in verse nine.
It's a little bit longer than I read on these podcasts, but I want you to hang with me.
And we're going to talk about you'll finding your purpose, finding your place and finding
your passion.
But it says for this reason, we also, since the day we heard, do not cease to pray for you.
And to ask that you may be filled with a knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding
that you may walk worthy of the Lord fully pleasing him, being fruitful in every good work
and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthen with all might according to his glorious power
for all patience and long suffering with joy, giving thanks to the Father who has qualified
us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the son
of his love, in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.
He is the image of the invisible God, the first born overall creation.
Or by him, all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
All things were created through him and for him.
And he is before all things and in him, all things consist.
And he is the head of the body, the church, who is beginning the first born from the dead
that in all things he may have the pre-eminence.
There is a lot in that passage of scripture.
But here are some things I want to take away from it.
I want you to go back and go through it line by line to even see where it applies to
you.
But I want to bring just these three simple thoughts of application for you that you can
say, based upon that scripture, to understand that God has created us, that he is before
all things that we see and that he has done that.
We were made in his image.
We are grafted into his family where we are sons and daughters of God.
That's how the Bible views us as how it is laid out for us.
So for all of you who are growing in your faith and you're saying, all right, I want to
go to this next level.
How do I find my place?
The first thing, when you are finding your place in your faith or in your spiritual walk,
here's what I want to encourage you to do.
You need to find, you guys do so well, but find mentors, right?
Find a spiritual mentor if someone who could speak life into you, someone who could ask
questions to say, hey, how do I get to this next level?
How do I get to where you are?
How do you develop the spiritual life?
How do you have a healthy marriage?
How are you a good mom or a good dad to your kids?
Ask those kind of questions.
You want to have this understanding that with God that he's going to help you find your
place, but he's going to give you people also around you to help mentor you, to help encourage
you.
And you have to believe and know that the people around you, the mentors that you have
your life, when you give them that open door to speak to you in that way, you see a lot
more growth happening in your life.
The next thing I want to talk about is how to find your passion, okay?
How do you find your passion?
I think about it like this, there's God has gifted all of us in very unique and different
ways.
My passion isn't going to be your passion.
The one passion we should have in common is that people come to know Jesus, that they
can see that their life can be transformed.
That's not just information, but transformation when they really begin to live this life
for the Lord.
And so when we think about our passion, though, as an individual, how has God gifted you?
How has He wired you?
What are things that you enjoy doing?
The things that you're good at, the things that bring you life, the things that make you
smile, things that don't feel like work?
What are those things?
And then when you identify those things, how can you bring glory to God in those things,
whatever it might be?
So right, you guys are having conversations with lots of different people, right?
How can you be an encouragement to people?
It's not just making the money and doing great things and funding things.
Those are great things, but also how can you connect with people?
How can you encourage people?
Your passion, right, is maybe to write those, the checks to help ministry happen, or
to give to organizations that are helping people.
That man's a passion, you guys may have to think when you give that passion to God, I think
he's able to, you know, expediate your effectiveness in that area because he knows that when you
are faithful, when he gets it to you, he's going to get it through you.
And that's how the kingdom of God works.
So when you understand your passion, you're saying, I understand my passion, I understand
I'm good at it, I understand an increase, but I also understand I'm here to bless other
people.
I'm here to encourage other people, all right?
That's how you understand your passion and how it works together in your faith.
So right, you understand your passion, you understand your place, but I think when you
get those things, you'll understand your passion, understanding your place, I think you
really get a deeper sense of your purpose, right?
It's the lifelong question, right?
What is my purpose?
What am I here for?
What am I here to do, right?
And we give overarching things to it.
But I think we need to understand that God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, created
everything, created you and me.
But you have a purpose, I have a purpose.
And in this life, I feel like it's almost this purpose is on the inside of us.
And there's different things that we walk through in life, there's different seasons,
there's different things that we experience.
It's almost like your purpose is, you know, layers being filled back and your purpose is
being more clear and clear, maybe it's even like a camera, right?
That you're getting into focus more and more as more movement is happening, that you
really say, man, I understand my purpose in life.
God has given to me, he's shown it to me.
And when you understand your purpose, don't trade it in for anything, don't, don't
taint what God has given you in your purpose.
But to say, Lord, help me to always function in my purpose was such purity and honesty
and everything that I do that people come to know you and be encouraged by you.
So you know, on this walking of power, I want to encourage you, like we always do, right?
Think about those areas, right?
What is your, what is your passion?
Right? What has got to be my, I know my passion are great, right?
And that's how has God get glory in that?
And then to understand, where's your place?
You know, you're, lots of different times, you're going to be at tables, you're going
to be in different scenarios where you're not the one leading, but you're the one listening,
right? Understanding your place in it, but understanding God, where's my place in this
moment?
So ask God, pray, say, Lord, show me where's my place that could be most effective for
you. I think we get those two figured out, right?
You can understand your purpose in a clear way as you go as the years pass by.
And so I thank you so much for tuning in, listening to Walking Power.
We'll see you next time.
