Bindsons told him, trying to told him I'm a beast, but...
What's up, gang?
Welcome to the grind cast.
Stop an area here.
Get ready to do the new day.
New day.
What's up, gang?
Welcome to the grind cast.
We're going to talk today about being a comeback kid,
a comeback player, because you can't win titles
if you can't come back, okay?
In sports or in life, it's easy to play
with the lead.
It's easy.
That's why they call it the honeymoon stage.
It's easy to go through the honeymoon stage and win.
It's easy to perform when all is good.
You really start to see what you're made of
when all is not good or your team is behind
and you have to come from behind and win.
Or you have to play at an away stadium
where instead of everybody clapping for you,
most of the people are booing you.
And so I remember a wise man told me
before loyalty is tested when we disagree.
Not when we agree.
We see the loyalty when we start to disagree.
Loyalty to yourself and to your vision
is gonna be tested when you need to come back.
When maybe you started out in business
and everything was rocking, okay?
And then you took a dip.
People quit on you.
Money got jacked up.
Something happened.
You went down and it's not as sexy anymore at that moment.
This is where you see if you're loyal to your vision.
This is where you gotta come back.
This is not a sign.
People are waiting on it.
This is not a sign that you should quit.
Assigned it.
Maybe I shouldn't be with this man anymore,
any woman anymore.
No, this is a sign you need to toughen up.
This is a sign that your business or your relationship
is behind 14 points.
And you need to put some points on the board.
You need to come back if you wanna be the goat.
So it makes me think of Tom Brady.
Tom Brady, six round draft pick, right?
Coming back.
Wasn't everything wasn't perfect for.
So that's why you could go to the Super Bowl,
28-3, he's down and we watch him win.
After being down 28-3,
we watch him recently play against the Chiefs
at Arrowhead Stadium.
All of a sudden,
can't put a lot of points on the board.
Fourth quarter, all of a sudden when we need it,
here comes Tom back and forth,
back and forth putting up points.
Went to the end and in overtime.
This is a six round draft pick.
See what happens is all those struggles
that happened to him in the past.
Now you get all the success.
Now, because of those struggles.
See what happens,
I want you to make your challenge big.
I want you to make your life what you're aiming for
in your life Super Bowl big.
And if you're gonna win the Super Bowl,
you have to be able to come back
from negative situations that happen in your life
and hear some tips on how I would do it
and how I've done it in the past.
So I told some of my people in business today,
my aunt sent me a picture of my arm around my friend,
Rest in Peace, Walter Reyes,
one of the best running backs ever in Syracuse history.
Check out the record books.
This was like my brother at one point.
She sends me a picture and I asked her,
where was this from?
She said I'm digging through pictures of Daddy,
which was her dad, my grandfather,
that we all would call dad,
cause I didn't have one in my life at that time.
So I would call him dad,
cause that's what everybody else was doing.
So he passed away recently in the last couple years.
I gave the eulogy.
Next day, that was on a Sunday, on a Monday.
I was in my business already rocking it.
After losing one of the biggest male influences,
if not the biggest in my life.
Whoop, next Monday playing like Brett Farf,
five touchdowns after his dad passed away.
And so what I'm trying to,
so I was telling my people, when she sent me this,
she said I was going through some pictures
and he had these letters from when you were rocking
in business and he used to keep all your stuff.
And so all these emotions start coming to me.
And I'm starting to have a little bit more self-awareness now
at 35.
So I click, I see what goes on in my head.
I start sweating, I start getting emotional,
looking at Walter, looking at my grandfather.
And immediately, with those emotions,
I'm like, I'm about to tear this shit up today.
I'm about to rock this thing today.
That's the first thing that goes through my mind
is I'm about to rock this thing today.
So I sent it to my team so I could share them.
I said, I want you to start digesting with me.
Your pain and emotions,
get those things to start going through your mind
when you go through that stuff to,
I'm gonna take this out on greatness.
I'm gonna take it out on a workout.
I'm gonna take it out on getting better in my life
in business.
And so here's how we gotta start digging out of a hole
when things aren't going your way.
You need to be a comeback kid for your family, okay?
One drive at a time.
See, when you're down 28 to three
or you're down two touchdowns,
it's bad as you want it to happen.
You can't score 14 points at one time.
If you start trying, you start making major mistakes.
And so you have to be diligent in the process
when you're behind and understand typically,
we gotta do this one drive at a time.
Start controlling what you can control today,
positive, that's gonna get you moving
in the right direction,
even if you're down financially 28 to three right now.
Control what you can.
Here's where a lot of people do at 28 to three
when they're down, they stop going to work.
Like that's gonna help things.
That's only gonna make things worse.
It's gonna be 45 to three now when you turn back around.
If you start getting down on yourself,
instead of it being 28 to 10,
you start allowing the points to go in up.
So I want you to take it one drive at a time in your favor
doing something positive,
controlling what you can control.
You can't control that you're down 28 to three.
That shit already happened.
The more you dwell on that,
the further away you're gonna be from a comeback kid.
Okay, and so I want you guys to do that first.
The second thing is, if we're gonna be down 28 to three,
we gotta start playing some defense.
So we gotta stop the bleeding.
So whatever caused us to get in that situation,
let's stop, let's make adjustments.
How do we get there?
Whatever's caused the bleeding,
we can't stop what got us to 28 to three,
but we gotta fix the holes right now,
and stop the bleeding and start playing defense in life,
and then start taking it one drive at a time.
But be encouraged with this.
The harder the grind in the climb,
the harder you become as an individual.
You ever hear the term, it's not the destination,
it's not achieving that goal,
it's who you become on the way to getting there.
Man, that's the key.
It's who you become in the process of all of this,
and that's what you learn that,
that's the stuff that you can spread to your children.
That's the stuff as a leader,
you could spread to your followers,
but you first have to go through, you gotta come back.
And so in order to come back when you're down,
it humbles you when you're down.
And so but that humble spirit that you gain in that moment,
you can pass that on to people
and take that for the rest of your life.
You gotta be a fighter when you're down, 28th.
Like when you're down, you learn to pull some stuff out of you,
and when you come back and you win,
man, you just go back to already overcame all of this stuff
before.
And so you become a fighter, you become wiser,
smarter from the mistakes, you don't make those same plays,
you don't throw those same interceptions,
you become wiser from the mistakes that you've made,
you become more patient in your life after being down
and starting to come back.
Maybe spiritually you've grown yourself internally
because in order to survive,
when you were so far down in life,
when you had to come back that you got closer spiritually
to another being, you had to dig inside yourself
with this comeback mindset, okay,
that you grew spiritually,
and now you can pass that stuff on to other people.
And so here's what I want us to start
thinking about is we close this segment off today, okay?
Whether it's in your marriage,
whether it's as apparent, you think your kids are slipping
or not doing as good as they should be,
maybe it's in your business,
you think you should be further ahead,
or you're not making all of the money
you want to make currently right now.
Understand, if you're gonna win a Super Bowl in life,
you're gonna have to make some comebacks.
Not all the score, not every year for your life
is it gonna end up in your favor 28 to three.
Sometimes you're gonna be down 28 to three,
and you gotta dig out of that hole.
This is where you start to learn who you're made of,
what you're made of, with the fiber in your body,
like you start to make up the muscles in your body
that really make you a beast.
That's when you start to hear people saying,
you know, everybody wants to be a beast
until it's time to do what real beasts do.
Real beasts come back.
Real beasts are like Freddie Krueger,
like you can't kill them, they just keep coming.
Those are the people that win.
The people that you just can't put them away,
they just keep fighting back.
So it makes me think of in my business,
a young man named Mike Russen.
So I think a young Mike Russen,
they see him right now, 26 years old, humble,
good guy, works hard, dresses well,
make his parents proud.
Good brother loves his family,
but what they don't see is 20 years old,
he chooses to drop out of college.
Parents, people around him, maybe not,
it's happy with them.
23 years old, couple years back,
has some issues in growing his business,
they repossess his car.
When I talk about humility,
think about how humbling it is to have somebody repossess
your vehicle after other people already told you
shouldn't did this, you three years in.
You wasting your time, Mike.
Then I'll tell you not to do this, look at you now.
And so now what happens is you fast,
see Mike was down like 28 to three,
but he came out in the second half.
Right now, over the last three years in his dominating,
one of our top leaders in the organization,
this young kid will make over probably a half
a million dollars this year.
And it's not just the money I'm talking about.
If you were to meet money Mike,
who just so happens to be a Brady fan
and a Patriots fan, it's pretty ironic
that you're acting like Tom.
But if you were to meet him, you can't help but to like
the, he created one of the best cultures
in his atmosphere of business that I've been around
because people are so loyal because he serves them.
He's a good person, he's a good son.
So it's not just the money,
but I think it's pretty damn good that at 26 years old,
he'll make a half a million dollars this year.
And three years ago, they were repossessing his car.
How many people would have tapped out?
Say, oh, maybe this is a sign I'm supposed to quit.
You know, my marriage isn't doing too good
the last six months, maybe this is time for a divorce.
Maybe we shouldn't be in this relationship anymore.
Like it's at those moments in your mind,
where your mind starts to tell you to give up
that you have to understand you have so much more
and this is what separates you from the life that you deserve,
the life that you're gutting for,
your vision would separate you from that is can you come back?
All the goats, Jordan,
Tyson, Tom Brady,
Kobe Bryant, all the people every Rocky
and all the people that you love to watch play,
watch them be the goat, watch them do what they do,
all those people come back.
My man LeBron was down three one in the finals,
came back to win it.
You want to be the goat?
You want to be great?
You want to come up with something great in your life
in or out of business personally or professionally?
We got to learn how to be come back players.
And so let's start out this week now,
from wherever you're at.
If you're down, start out emotionally,
taking care of yourself.
That's the first drive that you need to put together.
Get yourself in a space mentally,
spiritually, physically,
where you could start to grow yourself,
whether it's exercising, yoga,
listening to something positive or motivational,
take care of yourself emotionally
and be consistent in that
and let that be your first drive when you're down 28 to three.
You'll get there.
And the person that you become on that journey
is how you separate from everybody else that's average
and you realize that the people that you look up to.
That's why you see Goggins is real,
you know, world renowned right now,
my man, David Goggins, he'll tell you the story is,
he was just a normal person that came back.
Due to grind, Tom, six round drive,
pick Brady came back through to grind.
Like these are normal Kobe Bryant,
10 years old in the summer league,
didn't score no points.
I mean, at 10 years old is apparent.
You got to know if your kids going to be an athlete or not like probably most of you watching it.
If your kids 10 years old, they play the whole damn season and they don't score a one point.
You got to be thinking like, man, my man just don't got it.
But he turns out to be Kobe Bryant.
It ain't like he just he came back through the process one shot at a time, one drive at a time.
And so if you're up
and you're not down, you don't need to come back right now.
Build yourself up now because at some point you're going to be down 28, 3 in a Super Bowl kid.
That's where we're going to see what you're made of.
But if you're up, go for the throne.
Take advantage of it while you can.
Take advantage of the momentum right now while you can because you might think that you're getting this back.
You might not get it back next year.
You might not get it back 10 years from today, babe.
You might not get it back five years from today.
It may be right now you're in the moment where you could you could quadruple your life
instead of coasting it in neutral.
I want you to put this sucker in drive hit the gas pedal right now.
If you're not down, it's not your turn to be down.
You created the karma that is time for you to be up.
Don't take it for granted.
Stay humble, stay hungry.
Stay open to coaching.
Keep drinking at H2O that humble hungry and open to coaching.
And I'll see you guys at the top.
Thanks for joining us on another episode of the grind cast.
Let's get it.
Count money, man.
I'm on it back grits.
It's time.
I told you trying to told him I'm a beast.
