Count money man, money that grits is fine.
I told trying to told him I'm a beast, but
what's up gang?
Welcome to the grind cast.
I'm an area here.
Get ready to do.
New day.
What's up?
What's up gang?
Welcome to another episode of the grind cast.
Get ready.
It's a new day and I'm so excited today.
I got my man big perm on my left rockin.
And we got Rambo Dell, money Dell,
Steve Dell, dog check, gel in the house.
Yo over here and we are going to inspire some folks
with Steve's story and what he's been able to accomplish
on and off the football field.
So Steve why don't you first we were just listening to A's hood.
A's hood.
Okay.
Poppano beats.
Let's go.
We were talking about, hey, that's stand up.
Stand up.
So let's want you tell us a little bit about yourself
about you know, you're up bringing it so people can kind of get
to know who you are.
Such a humble guy.
I'm gonna start off.
I'm just slamming.
So now, you know, from Fort Lauderdale Florida,
Pompano Beach, you know, long, long 1987, my mom, my dad,
you know, they're from Georgia, my mom from Jamaica,
came over from obviously, like I said, from Jamaica
and being down in South Florida for a lot of the day.
That was.
Don't you got a little Puerto Rican in you?
Man, you know what, they would say something like that.
But now my grandfather was Cuban, man.
Okay.
You got some.
So a little something, a little something spicy there.
But, but at the end of the day, you know, grew up down there,
ended up coming up the Pittsburgh after high school.
College got a scholarship at Pitt.
New day wants that.
He was leaving the Miami dolphins coming back to his alma mater
and came up the pit in 2004, graduated high school at the age
of like 16, 17 left school early.
Yeah, so I left school early, you know, while people were
going to go to school, I know, I know what the kids are going
through right now.
They know, know what, what's that problem and stuff like that.
I didn't do none of that.
I didn't do none of that.
But, but straight to work, straight to work, straight to
spring practice.
Just how you are now.
Come on, let's go.
Yep, yep.
And ended up being, you know, playing for Pitt from 05 to 09.
And, and, you know, the story just keeps going.
And history is right now, we sitting here at the groundcast,
you know, with, with four kids and a fiance.
And life is pretty good, right?
Beautiful, man.
Now, when you were at Pitt, shout out to the current coach
there's from my hometown, young hometown.
Young hometown, come on.
How to pit.
But so you were a captain there, correct?
Yeah, so, yeah.
What, what, what was it like, man, what did you learn from,
from going, you know, going from Florida to up north like that
is a, is a shock, at least from a weather standpoint.
It has to be even more than that.
So what, what, was it like playing at Pitt?
What were some of the things that you grabbed from that that,
that you feel made you a better man, better person?
Yeah.
And, and, you know, as a captain, why do you think that people,
you know, was that coach elected, player elected?
How did you get elected?
Yeah, and I tell you what, one of the, one of the great things
about, you know, starting off, and I'll go back to the beginning
of the question, but being a captain is that it has to be elected
by, by the players.
And, and, you know, I can honestly say when you talk about
offense, defense, you know, some of the things that, you know,
people seem to forget is, is the special team.
That's what a real work was at.
That's where like the grind, like the grind launch is on,
it's the beginning of the game and it starts off everything.
And it, and it sets the tempo.
And I was just one of those dudes who would just,
who was willing to do anything, like just to get on the field.
Like, like, coach just put me in.
Yes.
Like, I was just going on there.
And they started in high school.
Yeah.
Yeah.
To be on special team, you know, thought they gave me the middle
linebacker starting job.
I was so happy.
Right.
So excited just to get on the field.
Absolutely.
And I, and, and that was just the beginning of, of, of getting
people to say, man, this dude was just, whatever it took,
whatever hat he had to wear in order to be successful,
or in order to be on the field, or, order to, to show his work,
whatever the case may be, I was going to do it.
So, you know, back to, back to just that part, but, you know,
coming up to pit was awesome.
You know, the weather obviously was a little change, you know,
coming from South Florida.
I did, you know, but I did, do a little, I did a visit during
the summertime and forgot that it was winter at some point
of time.
So,
Mr. Dale, Mr. Rambo Dale, it's going on, brother.
What's up, man?
Let me say something.
Oh, brother, hey, man, look, man, you know, you know what?
What's up, man?
I always loved you, man.
I love you, brother.
It's for this that I met you.
This is crazy.
I love you, man.
It's a beautiful thing to be on here, brother.
Oh, my God.
Listen, I love having Perman here as a permanent fixture.
He, he busted out a bag over here.
There's a purple bag.
You can't see it.
It's from KMP.
Oh, you only know if you know, I don't even know KMP.
Still got a Kremlin.
They back in bed.
They make it through any of the other.
They open it back up.
God bless KMP.
We're not.
Okay.
So, so he, he got the shirts, Tumon and Pumba.
Yep.
That was the joke of like, you know, I try to say,
I try to swallow up, I'm still Tumon.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, he's got Tumon.
But, but, but, you know, I'm over here looking and I'm like, man, Heinz Ward ain't never
look, look so big in the jersey in my life.
Jesus.
This guy, this guy, I love it, man.
Never gets, this never gets old, man.
I love these jokes, buddy.
Only here on the grind, Cash.
Anyway, Mr. Del.
Yes, sir.
Since you've been here, you've been, you've been, you've been having a crowd going crazy.
How, when and where did you come up with this beautiful chant called the dog chat?
Oh, come on.
Well, I got even happened.
Where's your old?
Come on.
I tell you what, Pearl, I'm not even that, you know, I can't even tell you that I, I
can think of something that would just turn into what it has today.
And for me, you know, playing football and being with my guys from Florida, you know,
we always called ourselves dogs.
And just like, you know, everything that we wanted to do, you know, as a defense, we
called ourselves the mad dogs.
And, you know, what that really meant was, is that, you know, we was, when we got together,
whether it was off the field or on the field, we rolled in the pack.
And we just wanted to go to work.
And we just wanted to be fierce.
Like everybody needed to know, like, we was coming to, coming to do what we needed to
do, coming to play.
And so, you know, football for being on the field, mad dogs and being able to have a chance
with something that, you know, from the South.
That's what we, that's what it was.
Like, you know, that's no deal.
That's what it was.
Like, you know, that's pretty good.
You said, I don't know.
Like, you had to have some type of chance.
And so, you know, as a freshman, coming in and trying to make a name for yourself, and
all our guys from Florida, man, and I tell you what, we had, like, you know, even though
we was in Pittsburgh, we had like 20 dudes from Florida with Coach Wants, that, like,
you know, this kind of just turned into, like, yeah, mad dogs, a shirt, just a dog on it,
then it turned into, you know, us making, and then all of a sudden, we just started coming
along on the bus.
And I could just remember, like, man, you know, dog check.
And then, well, for those who don't know it, why don't you give them, you know, I'm saying
a little sound.
Come on, come on.
This is easy.
This is for all my people.
I started off, I say dog check.
Who?
And then everybody just said, yup, yup.
Right.
So, I'm gonna give you one more time.
And then I say dog check, and you go say, and then I'm gonna say, check, check, check,
check, dog check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check,
check, check, see, come on.
Come on, when you got 90 dogs running and ready, it's just, it's like that.
That's what we got to keep the lie off with.
Yeah.
Okay, let's bring it back.
But I know one thing that, and we'll get to the story on how Steven I met, you know,
one of the things that I was excited about was he was as excited as I am, and that's
hard to, you know, I'm always on 10, you know, I'm the first one.
It's like, you don't need any coffee.
Put the coffee down.
You don't need anything extra to get, you know, and he got that type of excitement and
enthusiasm too, man.
So it's been great to have somebody else with that type of constant energy.
And so you talked about the dog check, and we got the hoodie on, you know, with the
check on it, dog check.
So let's talk about your checks.
So, you know, we were literally just getting off the, we were just talking before we got
on air about how, you know, one of your biggest income months, you know, he's only been here
two years.
Two years, man.
It's just starting his study here.
We're in the second quarter of your third year.
So, you know, that would be like a, either a true junior in sports or a red shirt, sophomore
year.
Yeah.
And, and his, you just say that in March, you made how much?
Oh, in a grant.
A hundred grant.
And, and, and, and the thing that's, that's great.
And, and, and understand it's not only because we got people listening from all over.
Oh, yeah.
And it's not only about the money, but, but sometimes that, that money for what we were in business.
Okay.
So the, the, the business we're in, we're in sales, leadership and, and, and a lot of
what our compensation is, is commission.
Okay.
And that means if you do a good job, then you get paid this much.
And the better job that you do, you get paid this much.
Doesn't mean we think we're better than anybody or anything like that.
And so part of what we do is you get residual income in, in what we do.
So that means every time that we serve someone and we protect their family, you know, when
they make a payment, you get paid on it.
When you have a team of people, every time all of those people that they enroll make a
payment, you get paid on it.
And so it's, it's passive income in the form of renewals and, and residuals.
And so I like to invest.
I'm a real estate investor.
And I know how hard it is to create in the form of a real estate investment, $10,000 a
month in, in, in income.
I mean, you, you would at minimum need to have a million dollars in, in cash to have a,
real estate coming out like that on a monthly basis.
And, and that's a lot of work to put all that together.
So your, your renewal check was over 10,000, was 10,000, 10,200, 10,200, 10,200.
Tell us about what that, you know, you, you, you, when you first started, you know, before
you came in, you know, you get this feeling of like, man, is this dude telling the truth?
It is, is, is, is it too good to be true?
And it's not really about me, it's, it's, it's the opportunity.
And it's what you've done with the same opportunity that we all share.
has that opportunity.
What was that like for you?
Because I remember getting my first big renewal check.
What was it like for you?
What was your thought process on receiving
that type of renewal check?
Humble, grateful.
But when you just get out the phone with dudes like Bulldog
who makes 30 and $40,000.
Just to make them shout out the Bulldog.
Yeah, definitely shout out the Bulldog in Marcus.
And you and to be honest with you, like I said,
this is like I'm behind a little bit.
I see, and like I said, very grateful.
But I just know there's a lot more out in front of us.
And we just getting started.
And so 10,000 is great.
But for what the technology and the company has done for us.
And thinking about what you guys used to have to go through
and what we have now, I'm not even blinking at it.
Like 10,000, great.
But we got to get to 50.
No, no.
Boom, listen.
So you making it like that.
What was your biggest week month?
As far as income?
Yeah.
Man, come on now.
I want to say 30, 30, 2, for the week or for the month?
For the week.
For the week.
32,000.
Yeah, for the week.
Yes.
Yeah.
What transition would you, what advice would you give to a kid
or someone transitioning out of playing college sports maybe?
Because that's what you can relate to.
What advice would you give for someone
that's coming out of college sports into business?
That they don't go into the NFL.
They don't go straight into coaching
and they want to do something else in business.
What advice would you give those people?
Man, first thing is first is realize
that whatever sport that you were playing in the income
or whatever you loved about it to get the result of what
you were going to do down the road, you can do it in business.
And what I also realized was that when you put your head down
and you go to work just like you did in football,
you walked in the doors and freshmen.
And there's some freshmen who get to start.
But there's also some freshmen who have to be a red shirt.
And so instead of walking in the door with the mindset
of hey, look, it's been 60 and 90 days.
And I haven't been able to do anything in this business.
Put your head down and go to work.
And what that means is that run your race.
And this is a Britain cost a shot out of Britain cost
in his book.
Gotta read that.
But being a leadership coach.
Come on, come on.
Go cost a ship coach and running your race means
is that all you got to do is keep showing up,
keep going to work, keep putting up work.
It's hard work.
And it's karma.
It's going to happen.
It just has to happen at some point in time.
And so that's what that was my mindset.
And as much as you guys were giving me the confidence
and telling me this was going to happen, this was going to happen.
In my mind, it was just like, just keep going.
Like just go.
And so coming from sports, those same things
that you did in football, those same things
that time of getting up at six in the morning,
that going to workout, that going to class,
that going to use that in what your daily activities are.
And use that same time.
So many of these kids that, you know, they have morning running.
They got to get up at five o'clock.
They got to go running.
They got to go to class.
They got to go to study.
We got to do that.
You got to do that weekend.
You got to travel to the games or whatever.
And you got to maintain a certain amount of grades.
You got to, and then they get out.
And they stop doing those things because you're not
forced to do it anymore.
Right.
Because somebody else was doing it.
Somebody else was telling you to do it.
And then you get on this side.
And now you gotta, you gotta tell yourself from within.
You gotta be driven from within.
I wanna, you know, maybe rewind the tape to three years ago,
or so when you and I met, you know, why don't you tell the story.
I was just in.
Come on, man.
You're going back to what I know.
You tell my, when you called me Jay-Z and Beyonce.
You look like it right now, look at you.
I call you Jay-Z and Beyonce.
I call you Jay-Z and the co-beyonds.
Okay, you know what I'm saying?
So, man, it was crazy.
It was one of those days where, you know,
you couldn't even have thought about what was gonna transpire,
you know, 12 months from now.
And so, you know, we're sitting up at the top of Mount Washington.
It was actually me getting off a plane, okay,
because it was Nicole's birthday.
And I was coming from Florida because I was coach at the University of Miami.
And she couldn't, you know, come down yet.
And so, I get off the plane and I'm rushing,
I'm getting on my stuff together, I'm getting over to Mount Washington.
And what, what, what was that?
Monoray Bay.
Monoray Bay.
Monoray Bay.
Shout out to Monoray Bay.
Yeah, they opened up today.
So, so we get over there, you know, and our table's not ready, right?
Our table's not ready.
So we go down to the bar, which is like in the middle,
overlooking the city and we're sitting there hanging out and sitting at the bar.
And I get this like this light tap on my shoulder, you know what I'm saying?
I look over the shoulder and I'm like, where's the guy at?
Light tap because he was small, right?
I knew that was coming.
I knew that was coming.
And light tap, like, who is this little guy?
Who's this little guy?
I could see that.
Shot fired first.
Who's your parents?
Where's your parents?
Go back home.
That's all, man.
How'd you get in here?
Oh, well, good.
I'm so dumb, man.
I get a tap on my shoulder.
And my man says, I don't know.
I don't know what you guys are doing or who you are.
But man, who do you play for?
I mean, I'm like, I don't play for anybody.
I don't play for Baltimore.
I coach at the University of Miami.
And we started talking.
And he hit me with that great conversation.
Because the number one recruit of the year, right?
And being able, and we just talking.
And funny thing was, is like you said, it was a relationship.
It was us dating.
And we handed out cars to each other.
And from there, we kept going.
So I was at the Monterey Bay.
And I took a group of our people for what we do now.
We do contests.
The celebration was I took them to the top of Mount Washington.
And a lot of it was the guys from West Virginia.
There was a good group of them that were winning.
And we were up there.
Man, I remember when I came up to you, I told you in the call.
I said, you guys stick out like two sore thumbs.
And I did like this with my thumbs.
And not only because you're black, OK?
There wasn't.
Let's keep it 100.
But you both looked stellar.
I mean, the coals always, since the day I met her,
I had a good vibe from the coal.
And you know, that's always been my dog.
I like Nicole.
And she looked beautiful.
And then this dude just looked like a stud.
He had on like a beige tan suit with some tats on his neck.
You know, I'm like, OK, either way, I'm going to connect with him.
OK, either selling dope or you play on the bar.
I said, I'm going to come over here and see what's up.
And that's how it all started.
And we started to talk on the exchange information.
But my hope from that conversation,
he talked about the timing you were waiting on your table.
If I would have waited, yeah, when I didn't attack, I would have missed the opportunity to
impact somebody's life and have our company and agency impacted like never before.
And so the timing of it is key.
Sometimes when you see something that you know, go get it.
He's the happen, go get it.
Don't worry about, you know, what's going to happen?
Or, you know, just open your, open your mouth and get to get to talking.
And then, you know, from there, I hoped that one day our pass would cross,
you know, but I didn't give up on it.
You know, he said, I'm coaching at the University of Miami.
And but I knew the girl was from Pittsburgh.
Yeah.
I said, OK, you got to come back.
You got to come back.
You got to come back.
You got to bring that home.
It's so important.
He's going to come here.
You got to come.
And I'm going to get him.
OK, so I said, all right, we're going to just keep in touch.
And let's see.
And let's see how things going.
And then one day you hit me up out of the blue.
Yeah.
And said you were in town and you said to meet me at where?
Yeah.
Oh, you got ahead of this one.
Oh, man, man.
I'm telling it all.
I'm telling it all.
Especially because you was jabbing me.
So now I'm really going to make it happen though.
Now it's all.
Oh, man, we, we, we, we met us.
So boy, man, you know what?
I do.
Three years.
And now we're talking about we got to go celebrate again.
All right, man.
But anyway, so we met us.
So I got to tell this to go hand.
I'm a rock.
I'm a cheese.
It's a per per.
I'm going to tell me.
I'm going to tell you something.
Yeah.
You ever go try to go, you know, you have to meet somebody and try to, you know, they, you
know they're up there and try to impress somebody too.
And yeah.
And then all of a sudden you just can't find them anymore.
So I go into, I go into, I go into for, you know, my family, you know, over and
press right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I got nervous.
So, you know, same time.
Yeah.
I go to support, man.
And, you know, family, you know, Charles Sennis and we have a table.
And first we have, we have dinner downstairs.
And, and I'm like, man, yeah, it's cool.
You know, I'm trying to, try to do my pressing too.
You know, just want to take my man's up and hang out.
Yeah.
And they were, they were picking up the bill.
You know, it picks up my bill.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm the payer.
Yeah.
Okay.
So they're like, you know, I went to go pay for the, you know, we have stay.
Right.
And drink.
And there's no, no, there's no bills.
I said, oh, yes.
Okay.
This is cool.
This is cool.
So, we're talking and, and you, you were talking currently about rice.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
He was telling me about his vision of doing rice, which shows his heart.
And he still does, still has rise.
We still donate and contribute and try to make, you know, make things better.
And so we're going to be coming to pit this year and doing something rising.
Yes.
Yes.
But he was talking to me about rise and his, and his vision of possibly impacting the
youth and, and, uh, where his heart sat and, and, uh, similar to what I, you know, do
with inspiring minds.
And then do you remember the conversation from there?
Man.
Um, the conversation from there, uh, I can honestly, the analogy.
The, yes.
Remember the analogy I gave you?
The foot, the football analogy.
Yes.
The, the wide receiver who, uh, come on, man.
I told him, I said, look, I said, what if, what if you were a wide receiver?
Okay.
At pit.
And the coach pulls you in and says, hey, you know, you could play wide receiver and maybe
you'll, you know, by third year, fourth year, you start, probably won't play in the NFL.
Or you can come play tight end.
Mm hmm.
And if you play tight end, you'll probably go first round in the, in the draft.
Yeah.
Would you, would you rather, would you want to be stuck with playing wide-out or would
you be willing to play tight end?
And he said, I, show me the money.
I play tight end.
Oh, I bet.
So I said, brother, I said, I'm down to help you either way with, because this is my passion
anyway.
Right.
You know, rise and all that.
And I genuinely was.
Uh, so that's playing wide out.
Man.
Or we can come over here and I feel like you can, you can make millions and, and doing what
we do and let me explain to you about that coach.
Do I need to change my pants?
Yeah.
What number do I, what number do I need to win now?
So then, so then, okay, then it's early, you know, is 910.
You guys know, I try to be up and out by midnight.
Okay.
So it's, it's 910 o'clock and we start making our way up upstairs.
We go upstairs.
Now, this is my second time to avoid Natalie took me there back in the day, trying to impress
me.
Natalie brought me there, but way back in the day.
But, but Dell takes me upstairs.
Okay.
And I'll never forget it.
My heart was racing.
So took me upstairs and it was like we're chilling there and it continues.
So we got our own table.
It's just me and him.
I'm fine with that.
It's me and him.
We're talking, we're talking business.
Next thing I know, girl comes out half naked.
She delivers a bottle of alcohol.
Okay.
And again, I'm trying to pay for the bill.
I'm thinking, I see how it is.
Do you get me before I bought it?
Right.
Okay.
You guys know, sir, notice there's no, there's no, there's no
charge.
So now they're bringing out free.
And I'm looking at them and I'm like, okay, it's only me and you in a big ass bottle.
Okay.
And then I start to look around and it's just the longer I'm there, the more we look
like we may be in South Beach, Miami, and get nervous.
There's women all over the place and, and, and, you know, me and him are talking and they
start to congregate a little bit over our way.
And, you know, the main, you know, because, you know, even though I'm short, I can carry
myself alive, you know what I'm saying?
I got a couple muscles, not too many, but, and, and, and, and Steve.
And so, so we're there.
So he goes to the, he goes to the bathroom.
He goes to the bathroom.
Man.
And I had a long conversation with myself and I start looking, I'm thinking, if I look 60
minutes down the road, this don't look good for me.
I'm not going to work because I was, you know, I'm married.
You know, so I'm like, okay, I gotta, I gotta, I, he's not, I could tell he, we're having
fun.
He's not going to have it.
Right.
He's not going to let you go right now.
And I ran.
I left.
I ran.
I went downstairs.
I got in my car and I sent him a picture with the Duce.
The disappearing act.
Oh, he was, he was Houdini.
I know he was like, what?
He left.
I couldn't, I carried back.
I said, I know he must have went to the bathroom too.
He was waiting.
Yeah, he must have went to the other bathroom.
I know the feeling.
I'm sweating.
I'm like, I gotta go.
I gotta go.
This is it.
I'm retired.
But you want to know what's so funny.
Let me tell you, Giovanni, it came bust out the retirement.
I can't bring a jersey out of that.
But Perm, you gotta understand that that was, that was the actual point in time where I
started to believe everywhere that came out of his mouth.
Matt, that was the respect.
I was a business.
You knew he was a business.
That was the respect.
Right.
And so you can, even though it might have been, you know, where boom, you hit in it, you
respect it all.
But in my mind, I had never seen something like that when, because, you know, besides
the people have been in the office.
But the time you were showing me, it's damn near impossible.
Yeah.
To turn that down.
It was like this dude, gotta have some serious.
That's what I'm saying.
Yeah, you gotta have some serious, and so I started to believe that anything that he
would tell me, because this is stuff that we had already, you know, talked about a little
bit.
And so, you know, it went from eating to then moving up to upstairs.
And so before, get him loose a little bit, get him loose.
See what he was going on.
See if he really, really loved like this.
See if he really loved like this.
And guess what?
He really loved like this.
I'm like, you know what?
I gotta go.
Yeah.
So we started for months.
You know, we just started talking, you know, Dayton hanging on a main and then the rest
is history, man.
Let God have it.
And God bless you.
You know, I told Keith James this the other day too, man.
And this ain't just about our company, our business.
This is any opportunity that is looking you in the eyes, and you're afraid of, because
you're not believing in yourself, or you're not thinking big enough.
Just people look at an opportunity that they get exposed to sometimes, and they're good
enough to do it.
And they get intimidated, not thinking that they're good enough that they're not going
to be able to do it.
So, Keith hit me up.
Who's on your squad?
No doubt.
And he posted that thing about, you know, he remembers me and me and champs and texted,
you know, put the whole thing.
That's why I do what this, that's why you do now.
What you do is not just to get a person.
It's like, how can I impact this person's life?
This young, good looking black man is over here with this smooth, soft and smile, selling
shoes.
And I look at him and I'm like, bro, you put him on my football team.
You know, I'm like, looking at him like a coach.
He's a running back.
He runs a four three.
I'm like, bro, let me put some pads on this dude.
And as he's like, man, I made a hundred grand.
It's like, for you and him to see the opportunity and for people to now see the opportunity
through your eyes.
Right.
It's how people's lives get, get, get impacted.
So, you know, we talked about, you know, impact and my, you know, my family.
And, you know, one thing that's been beautiful to me is for me to watch, watch you grow your
family.
You know, and you got little Steve and Nova and the cold to crib and, you know, another
little Rambo coming up.
A little Rambo coming up.
So, you know, how have you grown to learn?
Because you're one of the people, you're one of the people that is a rare breed that
I love to coach.
You know, most people I got to kick him into ass and speed him up.
And it's very rare that I got to grab someone and slow him down.
And you know that I've tried, like, all right, you need to take some time off.
You know, it's like the leader is very rarely telling people you need to take some time off.
And you go so hard, bro, your workout that is so great that I have to, you know, over
the years I've had to try to say, slow down, take some time, go with the family.
You know what I mean?
And I've watched you grow in that area.
I've watched you get better in that area because you've learned that not only can I can still
crush my goals and records and make what I want to make and do what I want to do and still
find time to do what you're currently doing right now.
I love when you tell me, oh man, I was, you know, with the kids on Wednesday.
That's my day or, you know, the weekend, this is when we get together and all that stuff.
How have you learned how to find that attack mode and balance still being there?
Well, I learned because I get to watch somebody do it every day.
You know what I'm saying?
Like when I, you know, when you hang around Simon, when you hang around Justin Adams, when
you hang around Maddie D and even before that time of year, you guys, you guys, you showed
that.
And so it's easy for me now, somebody who believed that that couldn't happen or I'd never
saw it happen, you know, do it and it all started with teaching me how to really put together
a schedule and really sticking to the schedule because it's easy for people to put the schedule.
It's easy to write it down.
Like, you know, it's important.
It's easy to write this stuff down and I can come see you every week and we can come
up with a new game plan.
But until you actually stick to the game plan, which, you know, right now for me is making
sure that, you know, my business is taking care of and my family is taking care of, because
if my family is taking care of my business is taking care of.
And so, and so what I started to realize was is that all of this stuff was revenue generating
activity because if I had problems at home, it was going to make me not make money.
So I had to start doing what was revenue generating activity all day, every day and that
counted with Nicole and my kids and my people.
And so that's why it's so easy now because I was able to understand it before I didn't
know the how to why.
You know what I'm saying?
It was just more like just do it.
Like you supposed to be able to do it.
Like now I understand why.
Like it gives me an opportunity because if she's smiling and she's happy and she's got what
she needs, I can go do this way better.
Absolutely.
Amen.
And so that was just that was huge for me.
How about attracting talent?
Go ahead.
Happy wife, happy life.
No doubt.
No doubt.
And you too.
You know, that's something that you know, it's funny because all of us.
All of us.
Right.
Right.
25 years.
25 years.
We grew up together.
Yeah.
Me, him, impression.
Yeah.
They was they was dating when we was like, not even supposed to be dating.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Very bad.
That's still rolling.
Yeah.
Like, mom and dad is in the house and beautiful daughter that you have.
We shake that man.
Still together.
I mean, that's what we try to change, that's what we try to change.
That's what we try to change it and we see it in this, in this, you know, in this business.
Even though we work so many hours, you still can be successful.
Yes.
In your family life.
How do you go about attracting talent?
Uh huh.
You've done a, you've done a pretty good job at attracting some good talent athletes and
come on.
Any tips on attracting top talent girls
Man, I appreciate you on that anyways, but look look no for real though
Genuine
You know
Anyway, Giovanni you see this man on the on Saturday night Saturday night
Giovanni's jam. Oh, he loved the genuine. Oh, yeah, he did I said genuine he parked up right here
There you go
Attract the top you know what you get to have fun and you're going to learn something more hit man
I love the grind. Yes, because we're gonna have fun
Perm's gonna be up here drinking water and and and spitting and we just gonna have a good look
So so attracting talent to me first of all you need to be talented
Like like like so many people are worried about attracting talent. Well guess what?
Like attract like like what you what you are you gonna attract like you you talk about
People that you hang out with and and money that they're making well
Just like for instance if you're hanging with five that are broke
You're gonna probably end up being six so so you know if you if you want to get talent
You better get talented
You know, you if you want it if you want it if you want to basically get the talent
You need to be working on being talented. Yeah, man, and so because because that
Permiates off of you like people people feel that people your confidence
You the things that you do like when you're confident and what you're doing is because you know what you're doing
You're good at what you do
And so you know, there's a reason why there's a reason why Tom break it's so easy. Okay for for grot grot kowski
Now we want to get all ready because guess what this is Tom Brady he's talented and if I'm if I'm if I'm brought
Kowski right no
Grand Cows. Oh my god
I was like I was like I was trying to help you out, but you know the band was too tired. Yeah, you hear me. All right
Yo, I knew this was going
But I was on the right path though. I got you man. Sure they all so
So listen this since we're on that subject. You're from Fort Lauderdale, right? No doubt all
Daddy master people out about it. You know, I'm saying all that good stuff now meeting him from Savoy
Yeah, now you're down what you mean for what two years now? Yeah two and five months two and five months
So now coming down the line you you made a pretty big purchase that was pretty nice
Beautiful, you know, I'm saying I seen it. I'll set this up like this. Listen. I see it. He's talking about this is this is nice. Yeah, you have
You have it on your shirt. Yeah, right? The dog chain. Yeah diamonds all of them diamonds on
Bling bling now
Now now now who mode oh, sorry, so mode diamonds. Yeah, I don't know who made that stuff. I mean that who made the design for me
Let me tell you something. This is dude
You know who wait a minute because they can't you know, we're gonna show the chain. He didn't bring the chain. It's coming in
But okay, so Giovanni's gonna show the chain and and but but this is not a normal
No, this is not a normal thing. This is like what the fuck did you just I want to see this is what do you think Simon said when he's I know you
Hit it because you bought it. I mean you have to get it made no doubt. So it took a couple months to get me
Hopefully hit it like my first tattoo right right right right like you're like, oh my god
I'm gonna do this sir. So so what did you so you decided just to like
Fuck it. Well, you know what and and for all the all the people watching and you're young in the game
And you have and you're gonna be coming up making money
This is the thing that you have to understand
Me and Simon had contract agreements that when I made a certain amount of money I could do certain
So here you gotta remember this and here's the lesson though the humility
Of him to be in his thirties. Yeah, and he's a he's a leader. Yeah
To give me the opportunity to put my arm around him and say look dog
This this ain't gonna be I know you just made a shit out of money
I'm gonna need you to go ahead and put that in the bank account. Okay. We're not gonna we're not gonna while out
So I would always first soon as I would see you make a big check
I'm like bruh please
Calm down hold your water
You know what I mean and we would go through this process, you know, can I can I buy this card right now?
And he's pissed off at me and you know the money, but now listen
But he listen now discipline and and now we we don't need to say it
But now we look at the you know the me and county says look what I got
Look what I got look what I got so that's why it's even a conversation is I just been trying to make sure that I do all the work that he
Yeah, that he got it to show for it and here he come I see
Oh man you can't not see it bro. I'm walking and he's walking towards me and I see this change
Is that a license plate?
He thinks he is master
What happened I mean it's like it's big on you or me it would have been damn near my own chest. Yeah, okay
It's just look like a like a dog and as I get closer to it
I see it and
And then later on here's what here's a strategy we never even talked about this
Just know I know this was part of the strategy
One day I was at his house and he breaks out just he shows the envelope just so happens to be on the table
And he breaks it out and he said I just want you to see now look look
No, this appraised at X amount okay, so so so you know, it's actually was a good investment
You know, okay, damn
Okay, I got you we got to get it in short
So so so then I proceed to tell perm you know when I'm telling perm the story of what happened
Okay, what happened because I've never seen anything like this in our business area
I mean you know what I mean? I've seen it in the world
And not in person
And so I'm like perm. I'm like do you understand this man's chain
Just the charm this man's chain I think is that a charm is that they're even still
Okay, that ain't a charm
Okay, that's a boat
So I told perma said dog my first house that we sold on the east side on clenchedry
We sold for 11,000 dollars then we moved to camel soup city freshman year
And we bought that house for 30,000 dollars. Mm-hmm. And so let's just say I'm not we're not gonna say
Price or none of that but let's just say the chain was was more the the the the the charm which ain't a charm
The license plate
It's more expensive than my house that we grew up in both times until until I was in my until I was 30 years old
Okay, so and God's good
Something that you there's always something that you that you wanted
Yes, I was wanted and I knew you wanted a chain
I know you wanted something that you had a chain but I promise but I promised that it would that was like that
That was that I was that was that was master. I was master. I was there young money
But he can do it he's good. I'm good. I wasn't confident in him right on it
We'd have pond it already
But he's good to go
Understand what you're saying man, you gotta have those little rewards. I just always wanted to do it
To remind yourself why you're doing what you're doing any's a giver. Yeah, no doubt he's a giver
He's always you know, he had a friend that that had some issues. We all came together
And he's like man, I just want to bless the heart
I do a thousand dollars and for the kids the youth program and I can't tell you how many
Business men that I know got money that I have to chase around
And Steve is always the first one to say anything you need for the kids here's a couple grand for this company
You know, you got to bless your heart man. Don't don't change don't change that and so you know the the
Success that you've been able to have you know financially and where you're at we got a long way to go
Yeah, just like you said, we got to weigh weight more to accomplish but
Relative to the amount of time you've been doing it. You've done a good job. How do you stay hungry?
Because I watch so many people get comfortable and
complacent in sports coming off a couple wins or they have a good season or or in business
They you know, they have a good year or good month and you never quite see those people go to the next level because they
Stop grinding they stop pushing they stop
You don't stop
What what is it in your mind or what's going on that you think you can
Transfer to someone else that that is like this is how I stay hungry
Well, you know what I would also realize what we know perms stay hungry
We went to
Oh, that's a lot when we go moderate me
Brought perm with me last time I brought him he'd like a well
This is my boy was a thousand dollars just on him
No, no, no, no, I
Want to say some about them. Sorry, I apologize man. You know, I always got your back always always
Thank you sir. Hey, so did you rip that head man from one of us like half a snack dog? You know, I'm saying you can't get the whole back
No, we wouldn't even I need you know, I'm saying I need two of y'all not one two. Oh
Sorry about that
Times two you know, I'm saying
That's a rock
You know how how do I stay?
Humble hungry and open the coaching yes, H2O knows and
It starts with
Your why it starts with your vision, but also understanding that once I got out of being about me
It took my it took it took me to even like wanting to go faster bigger and better
Because now it's about my people. Yeah, and and you know, I dedicated 2020 to my people
You know, I told them that from from right off the jump coming out of coming out of a you know awards and and you know
Being on stage for the company and and I said you know what?
This was great
but but it's really now even better when I see my people when and and and we always talk about you know
It's only low that the top
Because you haven't brought anybody with you and what really you know
You know what I've been doing lately and what really gets me excited now what what puts me in a place where I can't go to sleep is if my
people ain't where they need to be at or
Brought them with me next to me and so now my focus my only focus right now
And it's so funny that when you focus on others you win
Like it's just it's just happy
It's like the you make more money you get more awards and I told my people I said, you know when the team wins
That's the team that has the most pro-bola's that's the team that has the most all Americans
That's so the individual awards come along once the team wins like you don't go you don't you don't not go to the playoffs and have
Five or ten pro-bolas right? It just doesn't happen. It's it's
It's funny because when the pro-bola's don't even go to the pro-bola
Because they're practicing for the championship and I was I was listening
to
Our guide Alabama and he said saving and he said you know
So how do you feel coming off of this championship and he's like well everybody else you know was you know not practicing and I feel behind
Like we got to go to work right now like we got to go like we're coming out of a championship great
We were happy for that day now
We got to go back on a plane get to recruitment because guess what everybody else had a month or two to get ready to go and so
Right now same thing coming out of March coming out like okay, we we won some back
We want but here here my people we
gotta go and so they gotta be ready and I gotta prepare them and I gotta get them to a place where
their income is this and they're in leadership and it's all about them right now and that's what's
been able to help me be successful on going and keep me going to the next place. Why do you think
Selena is so good you know because that's one I mean you have a bunch of people that are always
winning awards and getting stuff and the lady dog but the lady dog. The lady dog. The first lady dog.
Oh come on. Tell us about Selena. Listen. Listen. Listen. Just plug your ears if you don't want to hear
no more money. If you don't want to get your money. Plug it right now. Come on. She made 8,000. My gosh.
And one of us out is she's 25. Would she rent track or something? Yeah, it's rent track. A pit.
rent track. A pit. Yeah. I mean, she's a big woman. She's a big. She's a big. Let me let me first of all
thank you so much for that for that because the dog check team is inspiring a gritty savvy
and at the end of the day we got dog check values okay and not always learning on
somebody else's dime which also basically means is that you know attracting talent
she you know being hopefully me trying to you know be talented in this game okay was able to attract
her to what was she was already a leader. She was already talented. We just had to give her the tools
in her 20 bucks. That's all. Help me help you help us. Right. And what she brings to the
and I tell you I haven't met another female and it's not only because and I'm talking about
do too. All right. That is organized. You know it's far as on my team but also just outside of you
know the top people and and so she herself is a dog and everything that she does you know it just
it branches off even her people like the people that she brings in and the people she trains.
It's we could go on for a long time about her and Jen and I mean we got a bunch of it we don't
have time but let me just stay on on Selena for one second before we close right. Is there two maybe
one or two things that stick out to you like what's so different about you know her why she
able to get results and get the job done. What do you think anything stand out to you? Yeah she
gives no excuses. She's a person of integrity but she gives no excuses and she's all she's
selfless. She's all about the team. There's nothing that she ever says that's I she never says
I want I need I she says what do we need what do we need it what what are we gonna do it's
as a selfless act that she and here goes the biggest thing about her she wears any hat
in the organization. Any hat. I got a whether it needs to be from the cleaning the other floor
all the way up to being the top person she does it all and when you know what y'all got in common.
Hey, man. Both of her for sure. I know she's wearing both both her both your father and her father.
Yes, we're both in the boxing. Yes. I think her dad has a boxing gym or was it I've gotten to learn more
about Selena or brother or brother's boxing and and so I know your dad was a pro boxer so that's
what y'all had it in common amongst other things. Listen being but being a team you know I'm saying
you got a team you like yeah you have I see you post on Facebook always you know like when you
and the gym you got a team of tattoos on what what would be the most one that means the most I
mean you have let her body almost tattoo yeah yeah I mean I started off out of a house 15 years old
yeah come on man you already know where we are we did two we are we all we are we all shot a young
sounds my first one 15 this one I was there for but I remember when you got it it was half done and
then he was like I got a hero to this door shot actually anyway he said that love yeah I didn't say
that his arm is pretty big for it's morning I didn't know I tell him about your arm
I save it for another day for another one ever all right good one is just me and you
and then I'll show everyone yeah oh so the most meaningful yeah like what's the like what like
something that describes myself only the strong survive I've been through it all you know I'm
saying that's you know that's the one with the football you know I'm something right here
to me you know over here I'm sure to matter for yeah I'm sure to real quick it's easy quick so you
know this this to me is when I was you know in in high school and in need some lotion yeah yeah
I'm sorry man it looks to you go ahead man you know I'm saying and and to me to me with that with
that meant was for the love of the game for the love of you know it's funny because this this
this to me I treated like a game yeah and and I treated you know and I mean like you know play
play I mean I treated as if we're competing in the game like and so you know only the strong
survive to me and one of the most the ones that I look at every single day is because you know we all
have something that we come through you know come from or you know been through and then how would
how are you reacting to it you know and you know I was I was thinking of the MFCO and he was talking
about he was talking about what was it a loss or or basically you know when you look at luck and
how you look at that type of stuff and and and so this stuff me being here ain't luck like this
ain't look this is intentional like this is this is what I said we was going to do yeah like this is
what you said we was going to do like you know you can look at it from either way you know there's a
lot of there's a lot of things that happen in all lives that are obstacles but these obstacles end
up being what are called milestones yeah and these milestones okay uh uh what sets for life and
and to make sure that you understand the work that we put in and we talk about this income that's
there's a result of what we do the work so so when we talk about the res of course you talk about
the result because maybe you don't know what we went through Rick and Horton and so and so you know
at the end of the day the strong only the strong survive means is that there's going to be obstacles
there's going to be valleys and hills and red lights and all of this stuff that's going to happen
to you in life and how you react to it is going to be exactly what your result is going to end up
being and so our result is only from from what we've done and what we've been through and us going
through those milestones and us being able to make sure that at the end of the day uh we don't take
that for granted okay uh but no it wasn't for a bad reason it was it was for so so that we took
we took the opportunity that we have now all right and the next milestone is is is going to be even easier
all right so getting to the 50 is going to be even easier because I knew what it took to get to
the 10 and I know what I got to do to get to the 50 long way to go harder now long way from the first
time y'all met huh right to to to being where you're at now to buy the covid and the whole nine and still
going back to Savoy we're going to yeah yeah we gotta go shout out support yeah it's open man we're
going to go there we're going to moderate bay and August to celebrate July boom I want you to take
me to take me back to Savoy I'll be mentally prepared and we'll pray about it and everything will
be fine okay we appreciate you coming on so let's go yo yo big perv always appreciate you uh big
dog let's get it count money man money that grids is fine trying to try and told them I'm a beast
