Count money, man.
Stacked riches.
I told him, I'm a beast bug.
What's up gang?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
And over the next few weeks, we're going to break down in my morning routine.
Oftentimes part of pouring into my mindset is listening to different things on YouTube,
motivation, books, podcasts, stuff like that.
And I came across a message on YouTube that sparked some thoughts in my mind with,
I think Denzel was the main character in the video, Denzel Washington.
And so we kind of broke this down.
Got took some notes from the thoughts that went on and broke it down over a couple
different messages.
And hopefully it touches some people's lives.
And some of the stuff is not the first time that you've heard me say this if you're a
consistent listener.
But today we're going to start out with, I guess we'll call it a title, Own Your Mornings.
Because if you can own your mornings, then you start to take control of your life.
And I think what I've learned is at times people get too busy in their life.
To give them self any time.
And in my experience, that leads to more anxiety, more frustration, less efficiency,
less effectiveness, less mental health, less physical health, by not taking care of
yourself first.
And so I just want to talk to the busy people out there.
And to say, stick with me, in order to set fire to others, you must first set fire
to yourself.
And in order to lead others and to deal with, the more people that you lead, the more things
that you do, the more that you accomplish, the more things that get on your plate, the
more hectic and chaotic life becomes.
And so typically it never really slows down unless you get the game to slow down.
And so I think in what I've learned in coming up in 20 years of business, what I've learned
is that getting yourself into a morning routine, now, can we say, well, my morning routine,
that's what's going to make me rich, is that what's going to make me millions of dollars,
is that guarantee you levels of success?
No, it doesn't guarantee anything.
But it will drastically help you and impact your life, regardless of what your journey
is, is to not be in a rush where you wake up and you just get to running.
Now there's all these different, you know, I'm going to talk about the morning, per se.
But let's say there's somebody on here in that you don't have the luxury of that really
being it because you are in the night service industry, or you're in the service industry,
or you're closing a restaurant down until 11 o'clock midnight, whatever would have you.
And by the time you can get to bed, it's 1 o'clock in the morning so you really can't get
up on roll until 9 o'clock.
Well for you, that would be the rest of that morning, would be giving it to yourself.
That 9 to 11, that 9 to noon piece, would be trying to take care of yourself the best
that you possibly can.
And if you have to start out one hour, then you start out one hour.
You get up in that example at 9 and again, this is for the night shift people, this ain't
for people that are night owls that ain't on the night shift.
This is like you have to be up night because you're in the service industry or something.
But getting back to like a normal business where you're working till 5'6", or you're
working till 9 p.m.
You can get yourself to bed by 10.30 at night, give yourself a good 7 hours from there
that's 5.30 in the morning, 6 o'clock, 7.5 hours on that example.
And if you could work on that first beginning phase of your morning where every morning
you hit the reset button, every morning is a chance for you to reset, refocus, reenergize
and what happens is most people wake up reactive.
But the winners wake up intentional.
And so when you wake up reactive, it's like, oh my God, you know, I got 30 minutes to
be where I need to be.
I got one hour to be where I need to be.
So I got to hurry up.
You know that first 10, 15 minutes, sometimes your little disk and biblated and slow,
you know, a little bit.
It's like, all right, I got that 15 minute period.
Now I got a shower.
I got to get myself dressed.
I got to drive all the way out there.
And it just starts this day off with reactiveness.
And that's when you start dropping balls.
That's where you start missing meetings, forgetting things, forgetting to respond to people,
forgetting to, and now you're being reactive to other people, reactive to other things.
You're on the defense.
You're on skates just coming in the door.
But you still haven't caught up on the emails.
You still haven't caught up on all your messages yet.
You still haven't gotten yourself into the zone yet.
And so it just puts us into this reactive state versus I think to win at the highest level
is you got to be ahead of all that stuff.
You're intentional about, let me look at my whole day.
Let me look at the way this day is laid out.
Let me look at, it's like I have to go back to sports and say it's like if you're playing
a basketball game or a baseball game or a football game or, you know, whatever game you
could put in your mind, we're not showing up if the game starts at noon at noon at 11.55.
Right?
If the game starts at noon, your process probably starts at nine.
You know, we're already getting our mind into right zone.
We're warming up.
We're stretching.
We're getting our gear on right where maybe we're hitting the training room.
We're doing a walk through.
We're having mental reps.
So what's going to happen?
All these things are happening in order to get yourself in the best mental state and
physical state.
And then all of a sudden people stop doing that in life.
But what I've seen is the majority.
Now you could always look to, I could take you to the casino today and you could find
a bunch of people that, you know, that win.
But what they don't have is all the stack of people that lost and some people lose,
you know, their whole life savings, you know, doing stuff like that.
We don't see those people.
You just hear the bells going off.
If they set the bells off for all the people that went broke in the place, the bells will
be going off all day.
Okay?
So you could always focus on the people that you see that don't do it right and they get
a decent result.
You know, this guy, I know, or this girl, I know, she just kind of flies by the seat of
her pants and she does pretty good or, you know, whatever it is, probably not playing
at their best level that they could probably even play better.
But you may be focused on like, that's that one winner in the casino and the lottery
that over time is probably going to take a bunch more losses.
And so I just want to, if you're not on the program yet, I want you to try it out for
30 days.
Just can you, you know, there's this whole 75 hard, you know, that people do that, you
know, you got to work out twice a day.
One of them is in the morning, one's in the evening, one of them's outside.
You know, alcohol, you know, gallon of water, all these things that you, that you got
to do, it got to be easier to just do what I'm telling you to do.
Can you just wake up and be intentional for 30 days?
30 days hard, which is not that hard.
30 days of like, let me take, let me try this out.
Let me see if I get ahead of my day, if I get the bed on time, I get up on time and I
get myself two, three hours in that morning, being intentional about what I'm putting into
my mind, what I'm putting into my body, what I'm putting into my spirit, what exercise,
am I looking at my schedule for today, am I getting ahead of any thoughts that I have
and my jotting down notes of things, you know, to stay ahead of the day or things that
I want to push out to make my business or myself better, whatever it is.
And then I think what happens is you'll avoid the chaos by creating structure because routine
is what brings freedom.
Right, I think it was Jocco Willink, the Navy Seal.
God, it has the books out.
I like a lot of this stuff and he says discipline equals freedom.
Right?
And I agree to that because your morning routine takes discipline, but that morning
routine is like a declaration of your priorities.
So let me, let me, let me just start out with my priority.
My priority is my own mind, my own body, my own spirit, myself, so I can be the best dad,
the best husband, the best leader that I could possibly be for everybody else.
And then you start to look at your time, look at where you're spending your time, look
at where your priorities are for today and investing into yourself for the first hour.
I mean, at least if you can't do two, three hours, and I'm talking about from the time you
wake up to the time that you get everything done, you're completely dressed.
But if you can't do two, three hours, at least can you at least try one hour.
Invest in that first one hour, setting the tone for the other 23 hours in the day.
Starting out with gratitude and positivity in your mind is a powerful launching pad, a
launch space.
So before you start off that day, okay?
At a time you get done, whatever your routine is, at some point in that morning routine,
having something getting your mind in a zone of, I'm grateful and I'm positive.
Whatever that takes, whatever that takes to get your mind in a spirit of gratitude and
in a spirit of positivity and launching your day from there, whatever that takes for you,
that's going to be critical.
And it can prevent panic.
And clarity at the start of the journey leads to calm execution.
So if you want to stop this anxiety, this overwhelming feeling all the time, it starts
with your ability to prepare and have preparation and start to have clarity in the beginning
phases of your morning or looking a couple days in advance and it gives you some calmness
to be able to execute at the way that you want to execute.
These small morning winds are going to be with builds momentum for your daily victories
that are going to follow.
I want you to try it out.
Pay attention and when you wake up how are you feeling?
So all night you're really not drinking anything right?
So I like to get myself hydrated in the morning.
So if you have any supplements that go along with your morning routine, hydrate, I'm
trying to get at least at least 33 to 50 ounces of water in me before I get myself even
rolling in the morning a little bit.
I like to stretch while I'm stretching, I'm listening to something positive that's
educating or book, YouTube podcasts, something along those lines, follow by some exercise,
closed out with prayer, breath work, reading or listening to something more positive while
I'm taking a shower, getting cleaned up.
I'm trying to listen to feed my mind again so I'm not wasting the time.
There's other things you could do like when you're drying off, there's five, 10 minutes
you could be listening to something positive.
You're getting dressed.
Take that phone with you.
There's another 20 minutes you could be listening to something positive.
All of a sudden that time you said you didn't have, you got 30 minutes that you've already
poured into yourself.
Those are those small victories in the morning, whatever build yourself a little routine.
You're going to have to force yourself in the beginning if this isn't part of what
you do.
It's going to take a little push, going to take a little discipline and then it's going
to be habit and then it's going to be on autopilot for you.
You're going to watch how your day unfolds.
Look at your schedule in advance before you start your day so I already know what's coming.
Here's my walkthrough.
I know what my day looks like all day long.
I have a to-do list of, here's all the things that I need to get done today that aren't
on my schedule, but here's some notes that I need to make for myself.
Here's my notes.
Here's my reminders.
Then when I'm listening to positivity, I'll have a note section in my phone, morning notes
and anything that sticks out to me, I'll boom.
I'll put a couple notes.
I'll put a couple notes.
I'll put a couple notes down there so I can pour into myself so then I could pour into
other people at the same time.
After that, because in order to exhale, you got to inhale.
Pour into yourself.
Exhale.
Pour into everybody else that's depending on you.
This is what I want us to work on.
In our little community, would you mind messaging me in the morning?
Shoot me a message.
Shoot me a picture of your routine.
What you're working on in the morning and then tag us and let us know how your morning
routine stuff is working for you.
If you're having any hiccups to that or you're having any challenges with that, feel free
to message me or message the team and see if we can help you work through that.
But I'm guaranteeing, I feel super confident in the next 30 days.
If you could challenge yourself for the next 30 days to take ownership of that morning
routine, be honest with yourself.
And you stop trying to improve.
yourself, you start getting old. I think that's a symbol of ego also. You got to constantly
be progressive finding areas of your life that you can work on. Finding areas of your life
that you could get better on. If this is an area of your life that you know that you've
been slacking on, that you could get better on, may I aim to do this six or seven days a
week? And if you fall short on four, that's progress if you were never doing it at all.
Let's aim for the next 30 days to take control of our morning, getting ahead of everything,
getting organized on stuff like this and watch how the next few weeks turn out in your life.
Alright, let me know how it goes. As always, we appreciate you spending time with us here on
a Grand Cascade. Get ready as a new day.
