Inside Look at a Team Meeting
Show notes
We’ve had a packed schedule lately & weren’t able to film a few episodes, but wanted to give the audience an insider look at one of the team meetings. Each week we give all of our agents and managers the opportunity to huddle up & recognize the week’s top performers and share a little inspiration.

Count money, man.
Money, man.
Stacked riches.
I'm trying to told him I'm a beast.
Hey, what's up, everybody?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
Just wanted to throw it out there.
Last few weeks have been super hectic.
Haven't been able to rip off a few podcasts like I would typically do.
So we figure we'll give you a backdoor look at one of our team meetings.
You know, I think the first thing, whether you're brand new or you've been here for a while,
you have to revisit or visit your vision.
And I think a part of that vision is you can have a short term vision.
But I think the most important part is to have a long term vision.
And so I'll give you an example of this and you related to your own life and your own
self.
Remember, coming up in the business in my first six months and doing well and having
some things that weren't my favorite part of the process, right?
So the process is what happens in the journey that you do, that you get to do, that helps
get you to where you want to be.
Typically the things in the process are not always fun.
Even if you're in something that you love to do, if you're going to be great at it,
there's going to be things in the process of what you love to do that aren't always going
to be fun.
Whether it's parenting, coaching, plan and instrument, whatever it is, there's things
from where you are to where you want to be called the process.
And so for me, I remember times getting down in the process of like, man, we used to drive
to people's homes, right?
So I'd have a full eight appointments, ten appointments, driving hour and a half away,
something happened.
The first appointment leaves a note on the door, you know, says, hey, sorry, we couldn't
make it.
Second, I go to the next one.
I get no show again.
I go to the third one and they're uninsurable and I go through this whole day and then it
starts raining on me and I'm going house to house.
I get stuck over a log, driving my car.
I'm back and out of the driveway and I get stuck.
My car gets stuck on a log.
I got to call triple A, but I got no service because I'm in the country and there's not
even like roads.
I'm trying to knock on neighbors doors to try to tell me where I'm at so I can communicate
with somebody where I'm at.
And it was just one of those days.
And that those days are called the process.
And in those days, what my leader helped me to do at that point, my coach and mentor,
as he started to teach me how to think.
I didn't know how to think.
I only knew how to think short-term about what was good in that moment.
What I wanted in that moment.
And until you get to connect the dots in your brain of thinking about how this decision
will impact you 12 months from today or five years from today, you really haven't grown
mentally.
So like my children, they don't care if the candy is no good for you or the foods
no good for you.
All they care about is it tastes good right then and there.
They don't want to hear about what's good for your health, you know, two years from
today.
As you mature and as you grow, you realize how fast time goes, how fast time flies.
I know we got some parents in the house, but there's nothing that shows that more than
parenting.
You know, as you have kids and you watch blink of an eye, they grow up so fast.
And as a parent, you got other parents giving you tips and, hey, enjoy it while it lasts.
Because they grow up so fast.
But when you get in the trenches of what we call the process of the infancy stage of building
your business or building yourself, you don't have coaches on the sidelines often saying,
hey, it goes by fast.
Hang in there.
Hang in there.
It goes by fast.
One year is not that long.
Just like if you have a kid, they said, man, one year, that's nothing.
It's going to, for you know it, she's two.
She's going to be 22.
She's going to be graduating high school.
But you don't have a lot of encouragement from people saying, I know your business is
only six months old.
Enjoy it.
Enjoy the change in diaper phase.
Enjoy the sleepless nights, moments.
Enjoy these crying phases.
Hold them even when your back hurts because you're six months in before you know it, you're
going to be six years in.
So I just want to encourage you right now in that process to take a peek at, what is my
long term vision?
What do you see for yourself?
What do you see for your family?
Sixty months from today.
When you buy a car, typically if you get a loan on it, it's a five year loan.
It's 60 months.
So if you bought a car this week, it don't seem like that long of a time before that car
is done and paid off.
You get one loan on it.
Let's pay your life off over the next 60 months.
When you look five years out and say the activities and actions and the choices that I choose
right now are going to make us 60 months from today.
It's going to change my family's life 60 months from today.
Embrace the journey of the process by connecting yourself to the future vision that you have.
I want to challenge you in the process to max out, to push yourself.
If you're going to get better, I would give you the example of it's like getting yourself
in business shape is like getting yourself in physical shape that you have to push yourself
till you're sweating.
You have to do two more reps when you don't feel like you can do two more reps.
The best gym buddy to get is the gym buddy that's going to push you and say do two more.
Yes, you can go a little bit harder.
Spot me one more rep.
Help me push.
Not the gym buddy that says let's skip the gym and let's go eat chocolate.
Every once in a while that's okay.
If you push yourself enough but you don't want the gym person, you don't want the accountability
person.
You don't want the friend in the business that's always getting you to make the easy left
versus the hard right.
You want a gym partner and accountability partner that's going to challenge you to push
you to be all that you could be.
Just like your body adapts, you won't adapt to maxing out and pushing yourself to do one
more rep.
So I want to challenge you over the next few weeks to push yourself.
Above our door before you walk into the big meeting room, above that door it says what can
anybody type it in the chat.
I know a lot of the people here aren't on the chat because you guys are in person in that
room.
Anybody on the chat put in the chat.
What is above the door before you walk into the big meeting room?
It's exhausting to be great.
Ooh, yes, we got it.
It's exhausting to be great.
In order to be great, you got to exhaust yourself.
And so I want to ask you to exhaust yourself this week.
Exhaust yourself today.
Have you exhausted, have you left no stone unturned?
And you say I max myself out.
I'm ready to max myself out this upcoming week.
Because what you're going to find, the difference between the flashes of greatness that you've
shown that you could do, the person that you've shown that you could be and who you're going
to be, is just the word called consistency.
The only thing is consistency.
If you show me somebody that's great, I'll show you somebody that's consistently great
in all the little things that they do.
From the time they go to bed, to the time that they wake up, to the mental preparation,
to pouring into their soul, pouring into their mind, to all the little things that they
do.
But they don't do it once a week.
They don't do it three times a week.
They don't do it sometimes.
They do it consistently.
It becomes a part of who you are.
This is a greatness is a lifestyle.
It's not an event.
It's not a relay race.
It's not a 100 meter dash.
This is what we do.
So I want to challenge you to go ahead and write down and think of areas of your life this
week.
Because you can't get on the right track for a month unless you get on the right track
for a week.
What areas of your life can you write down and say, I want to be more consistent this week
with these things?
One thing that I want to challenge you to be consistent in this week is your attitude.
You can't always control the outcome, but you can always control the attitude.
And your attitude determines your latitude.
Your attitude is going to dictate how high you go and for how long.
The simple and subtle things of taking ownership versus passing blame.
Having to do the right thing consistently versus breaking down to the vices.
Choose positive words to come out of your mouth instead of speaking negativity.
When you're making calls or when a day or appointment or a presentation doesn't go,
the way that you want it to go, it's about consistently bringing that positive attitude.
Because you cannot build a positive life with a negative attitude.
You hear what I'm saying?
You cannot build a positive life with a negative attitude.
You need a positive attitude when you need a positive attitude when you need a positive attitude.
When everybody's trying to bring negativity on you and you come in with a smile.
You need a positive attitude when yesterday you had nine appointments and you thought it
was going to be fire and it didn't turn out that way.
But you turn up the next day and you wear the process out.
You can wear the process out.
There's a thing it's like knocking you just keep knocking and the door shall be open.
Sometimes this thing we call life will not open that door until you keep knocking longer
than the next woman, longer than the next man until life knows he really wants it.
She really wants it.
She's not going to easily be defeated.
She's not easily going to give up.
That's why asking it shall be given to you.
Knock and the door shall be open.
You just can't ask one time.
You just can't knock one time and think it's all going to be handed to you.
That's what everybody else does.
Everybody else, the other 95% if they knock and they don't come to the door fast enough,
they quit knocking.
I'm going to the back door.
I'm going to the side door.
I'm going to the basement door.
I'm going to keep knocking relentlessly like a child.
You got children.
You got puppies like my dog.
If I don't let them in the room, he's going to scratch the door until he plows a hole
through the door.
Scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch,
relentless.
That's what it takes to be great.
You got to be consistent.
As soon or later to door, I said I wouldn't open.
If that dog scratches long enough, I'm like, man, I'm letting them in.
Life will open the door for you.
If you knock longer, the 95% of people are willing to knock.
If you ask with the positive attitude in faith, longer than 95% of the world would be able
to withstand and still have a positive attitude and still bring faith.
And so I want to encourage you this week to keep knocking, have a positive attitude, commit
with consistency, to be the best version of yourself that you could possibly be.
All the things that happen in life are just all those other things that you want the result.
That's just a reflection of the work that you've done in yourself.
And anytime that you're tested, understand that that's going to give you what you want
if you keep coming and showing up in the process.
Let's take it one week at a time.
I'm filling it this week.
I'm so proud of this company, no matter what, no matter what, I'm so proud of Globe Life,
American Income Life, ARIAS organization.
I stand and wave that flag so proudly, not just in wins, but in losses, not just in
sunny days, but in rainy days.
I'm so grateful and so proud of what you all have built.
I'll see you guys next week.
Let's get it.
