Count money, man.
Money, man.
Stacked riches.
I'm trying to told him I'm a beast, but...
What's up gang?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
Merry Christmas.
Happy holidays.
And let's enjoy ourselves.
Let's reflect upon a year of all the things that you've overcome, all the good times,
all the things that we have to be grateful for.
And get ready for a new, great, 2024.
And in the process of that, that means unless you, like, just had this whole well-thought-out
plan in advance that you were about to just have a plan to rest and take off for a week
or two weeks for the rest of you out there.
Don't let this Christmas day or holiday season of a couple days turn into two weeks, losing
a bunch of momentum and not putting work in and letting the wheels fall off the bus.
Okay?
And so, in honor of that, I saw a post this week by Christian Ronaldo, one of the greatest
soccer players in the world.
I'm not a huge soccer fan, but I'm a greatness fan.
So I'm always interested in the greats of what they have to say.
And so what his post talked about was things that you need if you want to go pro.
So this was his advice, things that you need if you want to go pro.
How many of you want to go pro, 2024?
How many of you want to be paid like a pro?
How many of you want to perform like a pro?
And so number one was a willingness to sacrifice.
What does it mean to sacrifice?
Sacrifice is to give up something that you want now for something that you want more
down the road.
Sacrifice is just to give up something, to get something more.
Speaking of Christmas, we're celebrating the birth of Christ for Christmas.
Right?
And he came just to sacrifice for us to give his life.
God sent his only son for our sins.
So willingness to sacrifice in order to go pro.
And so going to sacrifice, you got to ask yourself coming into 2024.
What am I willing to give up?
What habits do I need to give up?
What things do I need to give up?
What people do I need to give up?
What extra curricular activities do I need to give up?
What am I willing to give up in order to go to the next level?
So I said in order to be in the top 1% who end up making it, you have to be willing to
do what 99% of others are not willing to do.
This means you have to prioritize.
He said football, which is soccer.
This means you have to prioritize football over other areas in your life.
Sacrificing things like fun eating, partying, in the amount of free time you have all to
an extent is a must.
And so he's talking about sacrifice and free time, sacrifice and things that we want to
do, sacrifice and things that we want to eat, sacrifice.
And if you want to be a part of the top 1%, you got to be willing to do what the 99%
number two, superb work ethic.
The per work ethic, we ain't that the same thing as sacrifice?
No.
It's a per work ethic.
He said, you need to be working hard and smart every single day.
Hang on a minute now.
For I move to two, did he say you need to be working hard in smart five days a week?
Did he say you need to be working hard and smart four days a week?
Or did he say you need to be working hard and smart every single day?
This is why we're talking to the best in the world now.
So I'm only talking to people right now that want to be a part of the top 1% in something
and they want to be the best in the world.
Says you need to be working hard and smart every single day.
Getting better.
Be willing to constantly learn and improve every single day.
He backed it up again with every single day.
Does that, you mean even Sundays?
Do you want to be the greatest in the world?
Do you mean even Saturdays?
If you want to be the greatest in the world?
And the reality is that most people aren't working hard enough.
What he said.
This is a reality that needs to be set in.
I think people think that they're working harder than they are.
Because maybe their comparison level, their comparing, comparing themselves to average people
in that sport, in that arena, or in the world, and average means that that's like part
of the top 50%.
Or maybe they're thinking, man, out of 10 people on my team, I work harder than eight of
them.
Okay, now you're talking about being a part of the top 30%.
We're talking about being a part of the top 1% to be pro.
And the top 1% means not only if there's 10 people, do you need to be number one, but out
of 100 people, you need to be number one.
With what?
With the process, with working hard, sacrificing, constantly learning, and improving every day,
and the reality he said is that most people are not working hard enough.
So you got to be real with yourself.
Are you working hard enough?
Are you working like you want to be in the top 1%?
Are you putting in to work every day?
So doing this will set you apart from many of your competitors.
This is how you separate yourself.
That's what he said.
Okay, number three, consistency.
So you got to work hard, you got to sacrifice, but then you got to do it consistently.
You got to be consistent.
He said one key that many players miss out on is being consistent.
It's better to be consistent and take it slow than to do too much too soon and end up over
training and less likely to stick to your training and your habits.
What does that mean?
He ain't talking about I want to get in shape real good shape and I'm going to go hard
for a month, 30 days, super strict.
I'm going to get in shape, but then you can't maintain that month, two month, three.
He's talking about making it a lifestyle of it may take me three months to get in as good
as shape as you did.
It took one month, but my three months is going to turn into six months, seven months,
eight months, nine months.
I can continuously live this life.
So you got to be consistent.
Pick a pace that you know and some of you are grinders and your consistent is most people
sprints.
You could just sprint for 30 minutes straight on a treadmill.
You could run at a pace of 10 for an hour.
If that's your endurance level, if that's what you could do, so be it.
But if you run 10 for 30 minutes and you gas out and I run at seven pace, it may take
me a little longer, but three hours later, I may still be able to run.
And so I'm talking to you about being consistent.
Pick a pace that you can run.
I want to see you do justice good in February as you do in January.
I want to see you do justice good in April as you did in March.
Okay.
Number four for Christian was resilience.
He said the road to the top won't be easy and straightforward.
It will be filled with ups and downs.
Being able to handle these bounce back opportunities.
You have to be able to bounce back from mistakes.
You have to be able to bounce back from bad games.
You have to be able to bounce back from setbacks and your ability to bounce back is crucial.
He said every footballer, which is soccer, had to go through setbacks and failures in order
to get to where they are.
So this is what I need you guys to understand out there.
On your climb to greatness, you may be looking at somebody that's this is where I want to
be.
I want to be like this person.
I want to be like this person, this leader, this fighter, this boxer, this pro, this
whatever it is, I want to be like that person.
What you're missing is you may see them right now in their chapter 10 and it's looking
lovely.
What you cannot miss is don't tell me about only your successes.
Tell me about what you've had to go through, what you've had to grow through, what you've
had to overcome, how you overcame those things because one thing is for sure is you're going
to have to bounce back from a setback multiple times in order to get to the next level.
Show me somebody that is great.
I'll show you somebody that bounce back from obstacles and setbacks.
It's not going to be a straight line.
This is where you separate yourself because most people are interested in success only up
and only until that ride stops being smooth and when that ride goes through a little dip,
they take steps backwards.
They lose some people under a team, something happens.
They have a setback.
They fall off that ride.
They tap out and they say no longer do I want to do that anymore.
I want to do something else and they continue to hop off that roller coaster ride of success
because the roller coaster ride of success says, hang on.
The roller coaster ride of success says we're going to go real high and when we come down
for a minute, you're going to have a pit in your stomach.
It's going to feel like you want to throw up.
You're going to want to scream.
You're going to have to hold on.
What are you holding on to?
My body and spirit, what are we holding on to?
What's stable?
What's a stable structure?
We can hold on to while we're going on this roller coaster and it's shaking and I hit
a dip and it's, we're right back on the climb and then we're up, we're down.
We're up down the roller coaster ride of success says strap on your seatbelt.
Hold on, grab on to somebody.
Grab on to something.
Grab on to foundational things that are structured that you can hang on to because it ain't
all going to be sunshine or rainbows and smooth and the people that made it to the other
side, all rode on the roller coaster ride of greatness.
Don't fret, don't worry.
Don't let your discouragement last too long.
You're human, you're going to get knocked down.
The difference is the greats, if you get knocked down today and I come back in a week
and you're still knocked down, that ain't going to work.
If you get knocked down today and I come back in a month and you're still knocked down,
that ain't going to work.
If you get knocked down today and it's one, two, three, you get to your feet today.
You get back to your feet tomorrow.
That bounce back time is different between the champions and the greats.
How long do you stay down?
Everybody gets down.
The separator in the greats is how long can you keep them down?
The separator in the greats, the harder you hit, the harder they bring it.
They hit the ground, they bounce up like round ball.
You ever hear Jay-Z?
Every time I hit the ground, I bounce up like round ball.
He bounce what?
Bounce up, bounce back.
The difference in the greats is every time they hit the ground, they bounce up like round
ball.
The harder you bounce it, the taller the ball bounces back up.
Some of you want to go to these high heights.
You got to understand the momentum that it takes to bounce that ball to get you to the
high heights means you're going to have to hit the ground hard sometimes.
But bounce up.
Bounce back, sacrifice, work, stay consistent, but be ready.
Life ain't fair.
Life ain't fair, things ain't fair.
Not everything that happens is fair.
Pay the fair, pay your dues, stay consistent, and there's a great chance that the rest of
your life will be the best of your life.
That the best of your life will be the remaining balance of the rest of your life if you just
continue to bounce back.
It's hard to beat somebody that never quits.
It's hard to beat something that never gives up.
If you think you want to go pro, listen to Christian Ronaldo and the things that he had to say
and the advice that he had to give and applies to any arena.
