Watch Your Diet
Show notes
What does your diet look like? Diet doesn’t stop at the food you eat, it includes everything you consume. In order to level up in life, you have to be intentional with what you “feed” yourself.

Count money, man.
Money, man.
Stacked riches.
I'm trying to talk, I'm trying to talk to my beast, bub.
What's up gang?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
And today we're going to talk about your diet.
Don't run from me now.
Don't turn me off.
We got to get you in shape.
But mostly we're not going to talk about you getting in physical shape.
We're going to talk about you getting in mental shape a little bit.
Okay?
We're not just talking about the food you eat.
We're talking about everything that you consume.
So remember, it does start with your actual diet.
Okay?
So let me just get this out the way.
Okay?
You don't got to be perfect.
I'm not perfect.
But I think your physical is tied to your mental.
So I just want to encourage you.
I'm not going to go too far into this, but I do want to encourage you.
You know what I know if you're listening to this and you're not in shape or you're
not focusing on physically taking care of yourself as much as you know you should.
You've been neglecting that.
You know you got to get to work right now.
Why do not neglect your health?
Don't neglect yourself.
Get in there.
You are what you eat.
Get your body moving.
No excuses.
You can't make it to the gym.
Do push-ups.
Sit up, walk around your neighborhood.
jog around the neighborhood.
Get on a bike.
Do something.
There's no excuses.
Okay?
But we're going to talk about not only as your, what is your physical?
diet and all that, but let's get into the mental and in the spiritual aspect of it.
So we are all spiritual beings.
This is my personal opinion.
That's why you have the blessing and the privilege to hang up on me at any time that you
want.
But I'm going to get into your spirit.
I'm not going to tell you exactly what to believe or that you need to believe in what
I believe.
But I think that we're, where I had a mentor tell me we're not physical beings.
Having a spiritual moment, where spiritual beings having a temporary physical moment.
And so, you know, they say the body and the brain is made up of, you know, I don't know,
80% water, you know, whatever it is.
And if you dehydrate yourself, you know, there's issues.
I think the same thing spiritually is if your spirit is dehydrated and neglected, I don't
think people realize how much your body and your life is made up of your soul in your
spirit.
Not if you're a Christian or a Muslim or, you know, just like man, you're soul in your
spirit.
So I'll just share some, you know, it's like daily routine stuff for me, weekly things
that I try to do.
And you can adapt that to your beliefs and your lifestyle or not.
So typically I'll hit a proverbs in the morning in Psalms.
So if for the rookies out there like me, like I didn't know proverbs from a box of tissues,
okay, when I first started, somebody had to talk to me like a kindergartener.
So proverbs is in the Bible in its nickname, the Book of Wisdom.
It's also named known as the Book of Business.
And what I do is I read one chapter for every day of the month.
So if it's the fifth, I'll read chapter five.
If it's the first, I'll read chapter one.
If it's the 25th, I'll read chapter 25.
And then I mix in some Psalms.
My favorite go to right now for Psalms is 91, such fire for you all out there.
Anybody battling adversity?
Let me just hear it.
Let me just read it to you.
And this again, I don't care about what your faith is.
I'm just privileged at your spending time with us.
I don't want to force anybody into our faith, but I do feel like this one is good to share.
So it's Psalms 91.
If you want to follow along with me, I had to connect the Wi-Fi real quick for you.
And I want to read it to you.
It's one of my favorites right now.
So Psalms 91, here we go.
He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust, for He will deliver
you from the snare of the faller and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His opinions and under His wings you will find refuge.
His faithfulness is a shield and a buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence
that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noon day.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near
you.
You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place the most high who is my refuge.
No evil shall be allowed to befall you.
No plague come near your tent.
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bury you up unless you strike your foot against the stone.
You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent you will trample
under foot.
Because He holds fast to me in love, I will deliver Him.
I will protect Him because He knows my name.
When He calls to me, I will answer Him.
I will be with Him in trouble.
I will rescue Him and honor Him.
With long life, I will satisfy Him and show Him my salvation.
Powerful.
Powerful.
So I'll mix in a little proverbs and Psalms.
Some of you that are into meditation, you can meditate, you can add to that or you
can swap it out for meditation for those of you that aren't walking that direction in
your spiritual journey.
I do the guided, whim, hoff breathing method.
W-I-M-H-O-F takes about 11 to 15 minutes to do the one that I do.
You could usually find it on YouTube and it's called the whim, hoff, guided breathing method.
I know there's going to be some of you to benefit from this, to like that stuff.
You can thank me later.
Let me know.
Let me know if you like it.
Give me a shout out.
Give me a message.
Let me know if you like it.
I'm doing that pretty consistently, not every single day, but a lot of days.
Breathwork.
Prayer.
Just talking to the Lord.
Talking to a higher power up there.
I talk to God like He's my friend.
The thing that I would say to a friend is what I try to talk to God about in prayer.
If you don't know exactly what to pray, no need to be shy and embarrassed, especially
if you're by yourself.
Go get by yourself somewhere and talk to God.
It don't have to be perfect, but just talk.
Whatever is for you, just get something in you, a healthy dose of it daily.
Are you feeding yourself spiritually?
Are you starving yourself?
You didn't give yourself any food what you would feel like.
So imagine what your spirit feels like because you're not feeding it.
What is your mental diet?
This is all of the food that you consume, all the content that you consume.
What do you listen to?
Because the content that you consume shapes your mind, your attitude, and your actions.
So what are you listening to on social media?
Who are you listening to?
You know, that's, I don't knock.
I got friends that are in the news and on the news and I don't knock and hate on anybody.
My question is to the world, it's not your fault.
We need news people.
The news people I know are great news people too.
They're good people.
So I ain't knocking the news.
I'm just wondering why, why is the majority of the news always negative?
Why?
You can't tell me that you can't find more positive.
At least can we split it 50, 50 where you show some positive and show some negative out
there other than sports.
Like if we take sports out, how much of that is going to be negative stuff out there?
People dying in car accidents and trains collapsing and bridges collapsing and kids getting
shot and people getting kidnapped and all that.
I mean, I know it needs sometimes it needs to get out there.
I understand that.
But for every kid that's kidnapped, there's a kid that's been saved.
For every bridge that collapsed, there's a beautiful, beautiful bridge that was built.
For every life that was taken, there's a bunch of lives that have been saved.
For every mean thing that a person did, there's probably a thousand good things.
That somebody did it right in that city that they're not getting any credit for it.
They're not getting any love for it.
They probably don't even want the credit or the love.
And that's why here in our agency, we started, we started a news thing and it's called
the good news.
The good news because my vision was, man, what if I had a news thought out there and all
I did was was broadcast positive.
And people could tune in for all the good news on a daily basis.
So we've made this our little world a little bit.
And so in the business, we have the good news.
And we try to share the good news because you got to look at who are you following for
motivation?
Who are you getting business advice from?
Who are you getting health advice from?
Who are you getting inspiration from?
Who are you getting overall positivity from?
Are you being intentional about what you're putting into your mind?
Or are you letting the world just deposit those things into your mind more?
The more I'm a parent, so now I'm careful of every little thing that people have a chance
I get worried when my kids get on YouTube kids or they get on YouTube because these people
have influence over them and people could look at YouTube and just believe anything that
that person says.
So I just get worried of like, man, what's getting deposited into my children's mind in
the form of music or in the form of movies or in the form of the teacher or in the form
of whatever.
Because if you're not intentional about what your diet is, what you're allowing into
your mind, you're unintentionally going to allow garbage in.
And guess what?
Garbage in garbage out.
Good in, good out.
So I want to encourage you this week, pay attention to your mental diet, try to have a specific
diet.
You know how people say, well, you know, eat this many carbs and this many proteins.
It's crazy to me how many people will focus more on their physical diet than their mental
diet.
When they understand it's because people could see you on the outside so you're motivated
by a six pack or not having love handles.
But do you understand your spirit in your mind has a six pack or it has love handles.
Some of you are fat, sloppy out of shape, mental people out here wondering why you're negative
and things ain't going right for you.
What's going on?
It's because your diet is horrible, on accident because you're letting the world just give
you whatever they want to give you.
Imagine if I let the world just give me whatever food that the world wants to give me unintentionally.
What would I look like?
What would happen?
That's what's going on in your mind.
And your mind is the most, one of the most like they're all important.
But your mind is so important.
In grappling we talk about where the head goes, the body follows.
I'll tell you the same thing in life where the head goes, the body follows.
Your diet is also the people that you hang around.
Who's at your dinner table?
Sleep with dogs, wake up with fleas.
Take a look at your friends.
Take a look at the people, even if it's family, look at who you're spending time with.
Are they talking about what they're about to do?
Are they talking about progress or are they talking about people?
That's one.
Here's a big one for you.
This is an easy tell.
This is level one with level of person that you're dealing with.
Are they talking about ideas and progress?
Are they talking about other people?
People that are talking about other people all the time.
That's a tale right there is probably somebody you shouldn't have in your circle all the
time.
I'm not knocking that person.
They just need to grow.
So if you're trying to grow, unless you're helping that person, that's different.
But just watch who you're spending your time with and who you're allowing it because
the people who rub off on you.
My dinner table was large.
It's one of the things I wanted was a big table.
So I could sit down and have a big dinner because I got so much love for so many people.
I just sometimes, you have somebody for dinner and you get split up because not everybody
could sit at the table.
My dinner table is so large.
Metaphorically not my real dinner table but like man, my table is large but I'm not afraid
to eat alone.
I'd rather have good company eating with me than any company at all.
Protect yourself out there.
And then this probably needs its own message.
But if you didn't want tickets to my struggle, then you ain't going to get no backstage
access to my success.
So many people, you know, I heard a term that said,
it goes dream, struggle, victory.
Most people skip the struggle.
They want to skip the struggle.
That's why most of the victory parties that they attend
are for somebody else.
So struggle is a part of the process to victory.
So if people skip your struggle and they don't want to be there with you for your struggle,
they don't want to be there when you get into a struggle, when life is a struggle,
when building your business is a struggle, if they don't want tickets to the struggle,
don't give them backstage access when you win.
Try to be that person.
Think about, I look at times in my life because I'm not perfect.
I look at times in my life where I've been there for people through to struggle.
Every step of the way and then I look at times in my life where I got so busy,
it wasn't on purpose, but people had struggle around me and I probably could have given
them more love, more time, more energy when they were in the struggle, but I was so busy.
That now all my journey 17 years in the game going through struggle realizing how
cool, what a breath of fresh air it is just to get encouragement during the struggle.
It's a great lesson and a reminder for me from the Lord to say, man,
for the rest of your life, make sure that you're a person that tries to seek out people that
that are close to you as much as you can when they're in the struggle.
Try to be someone that'll stand in the gap with them in form.
Right?
And so let's be those type of people moving forward.
Don't be too hard on yourself because they say life will give you the test first and then give
you the answers later, right? It's tough. And so it's okay if you failed that test in the past.
Just don't fail it again. Whatever class you failed, that's a part of learning, but just don't
keep failing it. And that's how you win. That's how you learn. That's how you succeed. And that's how
you grow. Understand and, you know, in meals when you're eating clean and all that, you could have a
cheat day. We all need to reward ourselves sometimes on occasion for hard work, but you have to make
a conscious effort that nine out of 10 times I'm going to watch my diet in all aspects of life.
Right? So, oh man, you know, spiritually we got to be on it out of 365 days. You know,
do I make it to every single church, you know, Sunday that I can make? No. Do I read proverbs every
single day most of the time? But do I miss some out of the 365? Yes. But the majority of the time,
physically in my own diet, my nutrition. Yes. Christy, my girl, Christy caught me the other day,
some Doritos. Oh, I got busted. I was I was trying to eat clean. I've been eating clean,
getting lean, saw these bag of Doritos. I looked looked on the back of the package and it said 10 chips.
No sugars, only a little bit of calories, couple hundred calories. And I'm like, man, I went to
battle today. I'm going to spend some calories on some Doritos. And I counted them out. I'm like, man,
I got this bag. Boom, smash them on like Dorito number seven. In walks, Christy. Christy is my
saint of a babysitter, the best. She walks, she busts me. I knew she was going to say something.
Because my girl is like super disciplined with her diet right now. She what I knew she was going to,
she saw me and I'm like, ah, she walked in the door. She didn't say nothing. She walked out the door.
She said, enjoy them Doritos. Oh, that hurt. I crumpled that bag up so fast, put that thing in the closet
in the pantry. So fast. It's okay. I eat ice cream once in a while. Oreo cookie. It's my favorite.
Butter pecan. So I'm an ice cream guy. I'm a sweet, so oversalty guy. So it's okay to cheat once in
a while. I think on your diet, okay, young people just don't mean it's okay to cheat once in a
while on your girlfriend. Okay, it's not or your boyfriend. It's not, see these can't take that
and run with it on me. All right. What I'm trying to say is is in the process, don't get discouraged by
trying to be perfect, try to be perfect. But don't demoralize yourself to do nothing because you
realize that you can't be perfect or you cheat a little better. You fall short one day or you
missed something or you know, you forgot to read that day or develop your mind or you know,
whatever it is like we're all human. We're all human. We all make mistakes. We all fall short.
So check your diet. All right, let's get on that diet. Mental physical spiritual
pay attention to what you've been allowing into your mindset. For this upcoming week and understand
that internal growth precedes external growth on the grindcast. So if you have any questions,
anything that we could do, any messages that you would like us to speak on, feel free to hit us
