Hey everyone this is Nate Ortiz and this is Walking in Power and today I want to talk to you about
God's timing. So currently right now I'm at a camp that I oversee and we'll see about just
under two thousand teenagers over our four weeks of camp that'll be here and it's always a beautiful
thing just to have conversations and here people are coming from and here their backgrounds,
here their stories and one of the things that I just see over and over again is the idea of God's
timing is different for everyone. There's some people that have been coming to this camp and
they may really get serious about their faith when they're seeing you. There's some who are
super young and they've been serious about their faith just from the get-go but I want to talk to you
about God's timing in your own life. I tell you as we become adults timing becomes a lot more
trickier. We are trying to accomplish dreams or visions that we have for our own life but also
we're trying to be a whole person. We're trying to maybe raise a family but also trying to grow
business. We're trying to reinvent ourselves as we get older and be healthier and be wiser and
be smarter than we were when we were younger and it's just sometimes feels like timing is just
we don't have enough time or the timing is off but I think when we walk with God and we really
give ourselves to Him, timing begins to not become easier but we have a greater understanding how
we stew at the time in our lives and I want to read this verse here but in Clisiasites,
chapter 3 verse 1, it says there is a time for everything in a season for every activity under
the heavens. We understand that if you live in the Midwest or wherever you might live in
by on middle high, but the seasons change. There's things that we wear in certain seasons that we
don't wear in other seasons even though we may not want certain seasons to go in the next season's
coming. We have to learn this idea of contentment in the different seasons that God has us and
there's different activities that we do in those seasons. Sometimes you're in a growing season,
you feel like it's a very fruitful producing season but then there's other seasons and you feel
like well I'm just telling the ground and planning seeds and I'm waiting for something to pop up.
But when you put our ideas, our dreams, our hopes, our goals into God's hands, we take the
pressure off saying God has to happen right now and has to happen right now but we say Lord I'm
trusting you that when the right time comes it's going to be for me. So I want to encourage you
even today maybe feel refreshed to where you are in life, where you are personally or in your faith.
I want to encourage you to trust God's timing because it hasn't happened yet, maybe it's not for you yet.
I've seen people go about trying to get with God but they feel like God has for them in ways that are
not the way that God intended but learning to wait and trust on God and I want these three thoughts
to hit you today but the first one is understanding divine timing. Our timing is not our own. I said
many times but I rather have the timing of God than the planning of man right. It takes things that we
plan but we have to rely on God's timing and his timing is not always our time which cause frustration
even on the relational sense right. There may be someone that a friend of yours that when they talk
about being on time, some people say being on time is being there 20 minutes early. Sometimes for other
people to say being on time is showing up right on time right when the event starts or whatever it
is that you're going to. So timing is different for everyone especially for God. Our timing and in his
timing it doesn't always feel like it's going to match up but we have to learn how to trust him.
You know recognizing that God has a specific time for every event in our lives help us to trust
this perfect timing and plan. Learning to trust God is a huge part of understanding divine timing.
As adults we have understanding of our lives and when things need to happen and when they need to come
about but there are things that God sometimes is working out of us. There's things that he's working
our hearts and our minds bringing healing to us that we have to wait upon his timing because that
is what's best. The second thing is embracing patience. This is quote by Joyce Smirer. She says
patience is not the ability to wait for how you act while you're waiting. If you've been around
little kids sometimes having patience is a very hard thing to master and even as adults patience
can be hard. So with God I'm sure he's probably having laughing sometimes at us because we're
impatient. We said, God I need it now or I need this to happen right now this is what I'm in need
but we have to learn how to embrace patience while we're waiting. So when we're waiting what does it
look like for you? Do we begin to become antsy? Do we get our focus to other things? Do we become angry
but what does it look like when we exercise patience in our lives? We want off the things now
but what do we have when we're waiting what does it look like? Can we be people who are saying, Lord
I trust you this is really hard and really difficult but allow me to trust you. Embracing patience
means trusting God's timing and waiting for His plans unfold in our lives. I think about the times
of my life where I wanted something right away and I really trust God and it was hard and I think when
I was waiting the thing that really stuck with me is I felt like nothing was happening nothing was
taking place nothing was coming together but in the kingdom of God waiting is never a passive action
when you're waiting having patience on God there are things that are happening that we may not
even see that we may not even know but in this perfect timing it comes forth but in the third thing is
when we talk about God's timing is making them most of every season you are in there's so many times
our lives we just want to get through a season because it's hard and it's painful and it's
difficult or it feels like nothing's happening but in those moments we have to say God what are you
doing within me and what do you want me to see? What are you doing in me and what do you want me to see?
It's unreal the times that we try to speed through life and not really taking in the things that God
wants to show us that God wants to reveal to us they got wants to speak to us because we're so driven
by next we're so driven by what we need right now and what's in front of us.
Whatever season you're in I want to encourage you maybe just you're in a season where you feel like
discouraged maybe you're in a season if like nothing's happening great in your life I want to
encourage you with this learn how to make the most of the season you're in you want it's difficult
you want to start and we all have those seasons but Lord saying like what are you doing to me and
what do you want me to see? Because when you go to your next season you're going to remember what
God did in your life in the last season so whether it's a great season or a bad season you know
make the most of it. Feast in chapter 5 verse 15 to 16 it says this be very careful
than how you live but not as unwise but as wise making the most of every opportunity because
the days are evil there's many times where we can focus on ourselves we can make it about me we
can make it about what my my needs what I want what I you know what I need but there's this idea of
saying Lord allow me to be careful of how I structure my days how I go about it I'm not just
pushing through that I'm not ignoring people who need help that can pour into that can speak
life into but that make the most of every opportunity that make the most time with friends or family
that make the most time in the business that I'm building that make wise choices with how I spend
my resources in my life making the most of every season of all is being proactive and purposeful
with our time being proactive and purposeful so there are things that we can do that can be proactive
there was say this is where I want to be and so I make choices that I will allow me to be that
person I want to be and then you want to be also a purposeful that every day be purposeful with
your interactions don't be wasteful don't feel like well I have to more time or we'll be tomorrow
or I'll do it later but be purposeful in your actions so listen I want to encourage you
God's timing it's beautiful when you learn how to wait upon him when you learn how to trust him
and grow in your ability to be patient when you're waiting God's timing who knows what God wants to
do in your life today who knows the difficulties in your end what God is what beauty he's bringing
from that maybe you're going to be able to help someone else or speak life into someone or maybe
God's we're going to do a great work inside your heart listen I hope you have an amazing day
an amazing week an amazing month that God will continue to speak to your heart as you think about
his timing in your life
