Show notes
Are you hungry or do you just want something to eat? Massive success isn’t something you can just grab off of a grocery store shelf, you have to be willing to sacrifice, hunt, & forage. How hungry are you?

Count money man, money man.
I'm trying to try and told him I'm a beast.
What's up gang welcome back to another episode of the grind cast get ready.
It's a new day and the topic today is going to be are you are you hungry?
Or do you just want something to eat right?
So there's a difference right so sometimes it's like man I have an eating all day.
I'm starving like I can't even wait to cook this meal.
We got to throw something in the microwave or I got to open up a protein bar or whatever
that we got to eat like now.
I can't go any longer.
I'm starving.
And then there's times where it's like I'm hungry.
You know I can eat.
You know I just kind of want something to eat.
I can wait a couple hours.
You know long as we got a plan for it.
I'm okay with it.
And so that's the the thought process that we should walk through right now is is I think
on your approach to success.
You got to go after it like you're starving for it.
Success isn't like you know a grocery store shelf.
You know we got to go hunting for it.
It takes a lot of effort.
You know you got to go out there and attack it.
You know so to speak and then you got to cook it.
You know yourself there's all all that energy and effort goes into it which means you
know you really got to ask yourself whatever it is that you want or you committed to it.
Because if you're committed to it and I was just going over this recently is it's different
than having a goal.
Goals are great.
You got to have goals.
Break them down.
Break those big goals down in the smaller goals.
But there's a difference between a goal and a commitment.
So if I'm committed that's like you got to have commitment over comfort.
So even if I'm uncomfortable even if I don't feel like doing this even if it isn't really
you know convenient for me right now I'm committed to it.
I got to make it happen no matter what right.
So I got to ring on my hand here I've been married for over a decade.
That is called a commitment right.
It's different than a goal.
You know you have goals within that commitment but that is that is a that's a non-negotiable
commitment.
And so we got to be relentless with our focus on our goals but I also want you to review
in your mind like are you approaching goals in commitments the exact same because I
think you got to have goals but within those goals you got to have some commitments.
These are different in a sense of we got to be hitting those commitments to ourselves
into others more often than not.
You know if we're somebody that's throwing and I'm just going to say it's a numbers thing.
You know we're throwing numbers out or commitment in sales and we're hitting it two out of
ten times.
We're not approaching that truly as a commitment.
If I'm committed to something that means that like man if it's inconvenient if it means
I got to work extra work longer work a weekend work multiple weekends work later on a
Saturday whatever it requires I committed to that.
And so I should take that into consideration when I'm making this commitment to myself
unless your commitment to yourself is just the activity which is fine.
As I'm going to work as hard as I possibly can with with with the best effort that I possibly
can and that actually happened.
You're 100% committed to it no matter what goes on during that day or at that time but
somewhere between where you're at and where you want to be there has to be a level of commitment.
That is different than this laxed a days of approach to the example of like yeah I'm going
to go to the grocery store and just kind of you know pick something out.
It has to be more of like I'm going to attack this I'm going to hunt this.
What am I like what am I willing to give up?
What am I willing to sacrifice if I'm truly hungry for it if I'm truly if I want it that
bad.
What am I willing to give up?
You know the John Maxwell says that the minute that you're you know in order to go up
you got to give up in the minute that you're no longer willing to give up something and
give up things is the minute that you really have a challenge starting to go up.
You always have to be willing to give up stuff in order to go to the next level Eric Thomas.
You know one of the most famous now motivational speakers in the world and I could say you
know a lot of our staff can remember man I remember when ET was just getting rolling in
the first year so and he was traveling around offices.
He came to our office multiple times and and you know I think now he's well over a hundred
or a hundred thousand to speak and I could tell you it was way way way way way way way way
less than that when I started rocking with with ET and one of his most successful videos
that went viral in the beginning was the story about the guru when you want success as
bad as you want to breathe then you'll be successful.
When you want success as bad as you want to breathe then you'll be successful so in that
analogy that he gave in the story that he told the if you've never heard it you know there
was a person that wanted to be mentored by the super successful person and and the guy
said hey yeah meet me tomorrow if you really want it meet me at the beach tomorrow four
o'clock in the morning so the guy comes to the beach four o'clock in the morning I think
he was dressed up you know he wasn't ready in swim gear he was dressed up and he meets him
at the beach four o'clock in the morning and he takes him into the water and they had a
walk into the water and they he dunks his head demand dunks his head in under the water and holds
his head down and the guy was struggling to get up and he couldn't breathe and he was struggling
to get up and he was holding his head down and just at the last second to where he knew it was
like going a little far he let he let him come up and he comes up and he was trying to
he couldn't breathe and he said look what is all you could think about while you were down
and what did you want to do and he said breathe and so he said when you want to be successful
as bad as you want to breathe then you'll be successful meaning that that's all that you were
thinking about that's that's your whole energy your focus your mindset everything was locked in on
that one thing that's what we're talking about in are you hungry how hungry are you truly how bad do
you want it are you interested or are you committed are you committed you just kind of like man I kind
of wanted I'm kind of interested or do I want it as bad as I want to breathe like if I wanted
as bad as I want to breathe nothing can come in the way you got that deep sense of like
unbreakable drive you got to have a purpose something within you that drives you so much within
in your mind and in your soul of like why do I want it because once you figure out the why
that I want it and you have that deep deep drive because it's connected to the right purpose
there's nothing that stands in your way that you that you're getting you know mentally of like yeah
I'm just gonna give up I'm not gonna do this I'm not gonna do that it's it's it's I want to breathe
it's whatever I got to do I'm starving it's whatever I got to eat whatever I got to do
and so I think the challenge to that is once you're fed a little bit of success
once you got a little bit of success that's the challenge is
that's when you got to remind yourself why you started in the first place
that's why the mission got to be it got to be beyond something you know just money
because then once your bills are paid then you're not gonna be as driven anymore you you got to have
a little bit of something that you're reminding yourself because the challenge is you may want it
right now or you may have wanted it then and you were hungry but as you start to get fed as you
start to you can't get belly full syndrome which breeds you being complacent and when you're complacent
you really can't stay in one place you're either going forwards or you're going backwards
I remember our coach used to say but we're either gonna get better we're gonna get worse but
we ain't gonna stay the same today so we cannot slow down
we can't let that complacency settle in of like oh man I'm good like ask yourself right now like
if you're on the stages of the come up you might be starving and that's great because a lot of
people don't have the drive but once you start eating a little bit and you start having some some
success and you're good you're better off than you were before how are you able to trick your
mind and trigger something deep inside you to go to the next level what is that in your mind that
you can you can you have that motivation and that purpose of this is where I want to go this is
why I want to go there so there's nothing that's gonna stop me I don't care that I've already had
this little level of success over here there's something at a next level that's that's driving me
because you can't slow down you got to keep that fire alive it's about you know they say success is
never owned it's always rented in the rent is due every day it's about basically what they're saying
in that saying is it's a process and there's no destination that we're either getting better
or we're getting worse and if we want to be successful we got to pay the rent on a weekly basis
on a daily basis yeah you may take a day off here and there you may take a vacation here and there
and reward yourself real quick nothing wrong with that but on a consistent basis
we got to be continuously understanding I think where people shoot themselves in the foot is that
they they climb they climb they climb they climb they climb and they think like in their mind they
have this picture of like like I made it now and that's called retirement like you can't really in my
experience you don't get to a place and then you just get to like completely chill the work may change
so it may be blue collar work in the beginning building it and then it turns into white collar
work but some trust me that white collar work sometimes is tougher than the blue collar work it could
wear on your metal but you get to the you you get to that work and sometimes people think man
all right I'm out of doing all this now I'm up here you still got to work
you still got to understand this is not I made it here I'm at this destination right now no you're not
you're the the the treadmill was moving and you got to keep moving like it's like to escalator
she like we got to go up the steps because the road up is always a lot easier or a lot harder excuse me
then the road down right the road down we just get on there and just take it down with to go up we
got to take steps up you got to take the stairs up and keep climbing up and keep climbing up and keep
climbing up and keep climbing up and challenge yourself to find new heights and push that goal line
back push the finish line back and find ways I think they're great you know you look at when you
look at athletes or you even look at a Elon Musk I can't speak on Elon Musk as a dad as a husband
as a as a friend I don't know him but what I do know him as is the dude is a visionary and definitely
got a knack for developing and creating businesses and getting outside of the box
and creating things that most humans haven't been able to to create but every time you even look
at the beginning stages of what he was doing selling paper I pay power or something you know just
in the beginning rolling all the money into the next thing the next thing the next thing
then all right we did this now let's take a rocket ship to the moon let's take it to outer space
let's get electric driving vehicles and do that like let's take it to another level another
level another level another level Michael Jordan not one championship not two championships but
three leave come back three more like don't you think three was enough there had to be something
driving them Tom Brady something driving them check it created in your mind of like yep you
don't think I could do it at Tampa Bay so I'm gonna go to Tampa Bay and win another one just
because I think the people don't believe that I could do it how you got to continuously trick your
mind after you've won a game or two a championship or two to put that chip on your shoulder to make
you continuously want to push and strive Jim Sirace one of my mentors used to say make yourself the
underdog by the size of the fight that you choose make yourself the underdog by the size of the
battle the size of the fight that you choose like Tom Brady said I want to go to another team and
win another one I want to he was a six round draft pit coming out nobody expected him to make it
let that drive me let that drive me let me make it all right let me win a super bowl nobody expects
that I nobody expects me to do it again you got to create it in your mind whatever you know inside
of you drives you but one thing is for sure there's no set destination you got to stay hungry
all right and so that's the message for today check yourself are you having some success getting
complacent are you doing the things that got you to wear your at if you're successful and are you
committed to doing that to take you to the next level stay hungry my friends appreciate you as always
if this message helped any of you or you know I can help anybody else please take a minute and
and share for us that's how we spread the word and as always we really appreciate the time that
