Count money, man.
Money, man.
That grits is fine.
I told him.
I'm a beast.
What's up gang?
Welcome to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
And happiness is an inside job.
Happiness is an inside job.
You know, I saw a quote that said, success is getting what you want.
Happiness is liking what you get.
Hear that one.
Again, success is getting what you want.
Happiness is liking what you get.
And so you may want this big house.
You may want this new car.
You may want to be married.
You may want to have kids.
But once you have them, once you got that girl, once you got that guy, once you got
that family, once you got that crib, once you got that car, happiness is do you like
what you got?
And so I think there's happiness and misery at all different levels.
You know, you could sit back sometimes and admire people that are simple, that they live
a simple life.
No fancy cars, no fancy house, no fancy job.
They pay their bills and have a happy life.
And then you could sit back and look at people in a similar circumstance and situation
and they're completely miserable because they only got that job, only got that house,
only got those cars and don't like their family or their spouse or whatever the situation
is.
And you could see people super wealthy that are happy, look like they're having a ball,
love everything.
Love their wife, their husband, their kids, their vacations, their houses, their cars,
they're just happy.
And then some people got all that and they're miserable.
And it's because happiness is an inside job.
Other people in things aren't going to completely be able to make you happy until you've learned
to make yourself happy.
People think that if I just had this much money or if I had this job or if I had that
person or if I lived in that area, but it don't work that way, most of happiness starts
with internally, you know, in yourself, you know, are you currently happy?
And the happiest people, you got to understand they don't have the best of everything, they
make the best of everything that they have.
So are you in a spirit of gratitude?
Because I think a lot of happiness is staying connected to gratitude.
If you find yourself down or depressed right now, keep it real for a minute.
If you can't be honest with yourself, there's no point of listening to the grind cast
at all.
You got to be able to be real with yourself.
If you're being real with yourself and you're not happy or you're down a little bit, what
things are you not being grateful for right now?
Like what are you missing that you should be super grateful for?
Somebody's on their deathbed right now praying for the life that you currently have.
Is it really that bad?
And so, staying a position of gratitude being grateful helps you to be happy internally
I think helping other people helps for you to be happy internally I think.
You know, you ever see mean people and you ever hear the term hurting people, hurt people.
So when you really realize that man, you start to feel bad for people that are just so angry
in traffic or so mad at this thing or it's like man, they're hurting internally because
happiness is an inside deal, it's an inside job and you have a better chance of being successful
when you realize how much control you have over your joy and happiness that it starts
with your mind, starts with the way that you're looking at things.
Are you in a position of gratitude and counting your blessings currently right now?
And are you helping other people?
I think that is a big part of being happy is I think internally as humans were wired and
I think there's all this science out there that even shows, you know, things chemically
that happen to our body that produce joy when you help others.
And so if you ain't getting enough chances are you might not be giving enough happiness
and joy.
We have no right to consume happiness without producing it just like we have no right
to consume wealth and money without producing it.
Think about it.
Oh, I deserve a million dollars or I want, well, you better go produce a million dollars.
You better go work for a million dollars.
You better go produce some happiness in others.
You got to work for it.
You got to work for happiness.
You don't just come giving to others will help to make you happy.
And there's a caveat to giving.
You can't be giving begrudgingly.
When you give, when you choose to give of yourself or give of money and resources, if you're
giving what the wrong heart, it don't count.
So look at how can I produce joy in others?
How can I make other people happy?
How can I make a difference in other people's lives?
That will start to bring you back a little bit of happiness, a little bit of joy.
Happiness is hard work.
It's working at it and creating it in others.
So I think mentally, physically and spiritually, I think you're all of them are connected.
So to be happy as a person, understand it's all internal.
Well, what's internal?
Mind, spirit, body.
It's hard to be completely happy if you're not healthy.
Right?
You ever get the flu in your real sick or you in a great mood?
I mean, it's difficult.
It's harder to be happy when you're not healthy.
So I think part of you being happy is staying healthy.
People which you can control, let, let, let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine
be thy food.
Are you putting healthy things into your body?
Are you drinking enough water?
Are you giving it attention?
Are you winging your health?
Because that may have something to do with your happiness.
Physically when you exercise, and I think there's people that draw these lines of why
I can't exercise because I got a bad back or I got a bad neck or my ankle hurts or whatever
it is.
Don't let what you can't do stop you from what you can do.
You could do something physically.
You could walk around a track.
You could bike.
You could row.
You could do push ups.
You could do sit ups.
You could do something.
What can you do because physically moving your body helps you mentally, helping yourself
mentally because when you're mentally happy, it's easier for you to be happy.
It really all starts in our mind.
So the mind is fed by the spirit.
It's fed by the body.
Your mind is fed so much by you what you feed it.
So if you're unhappy, is it too much for me to ask for you to go down this row with me
right now?
If you're unhappy, can I ask you the question, are you focusing on putting positivity into
your mind or not?
When you ask that question, people are like, no, of course not.
I'm asking them to kidnap Sadan Hussein's grandson.
It's not this difficult here.
I didn't say go break into Bill Belichex House and steal his wife's ring.
I said, are you paying attention in focusing a little bit on what you're putting into
your mind intentionally?
What do you mean by that?
Are you watching the news too much?
Because the news or the pressure, the news is the bad news.
That's why we called it the good news, Alissa is because the vision was there's a bunch
of bad news all the time on the news.
Who got murdered?
Who got shot?
Who got stabbed?
Who got kidnapped?
Who got cancer?
Who got COVID?
Which president sucks?
It's mostly negative except for the sports.
Then you start to see some victories and some normalcy but they ain't going around finding
all the positive stories.
For every one person that got COVID, there's a bunch of people that already beat it
and they're happy and everything's great.
For every one person that's ill, there's somebody that beat major illnesses that are walking
around that could inspire people right now but none of those stories are on the news.
You'll show an area of racial tension somewhere but I bet you their stories somewhere else where
there's two different races of people that are showing each other a lot of love in their
tight friends but they're opposite or they've taken care of each other's family but they're
opposite but those they're never making the news.
Positive people.
That ain't going to start a riot.
We ain't putting that on the news but there's a bunch of positive shit that could be on that
news.
Nobody's putting on there.
Not even a 50-50 balance.
I ain't saying ignore the reality of some of the stuff with 50-50 balance and so if you're
not intentionally putting into your mind positivity, negativity is going to fill your mind.
Songs like the music that you listen to.
I stop listening to a lot of what I liked to listen to growing up because no wonder why
my ass was angry and making bad decisions.
All it had in there was angry stuff and people making bad decisions.
Now I'm like alright I'll listen to that when I'm wrestling, when I'm training Jiu-Jitsu,
when I'm boxing, when I'm hitting the weights maybe like something that I'm going to get some
aggression out but I can't be listening to that all day.
It's going to put me in a negative mindset of some of the things that they're talking about
so the music you listen to, the news you listen to, the people that you listen to, who are
you, you know birds of a feather flock together, you ever hear misery loves company.
So it's easy when you're down and feeling like shit to go find somebody else that feels
like shit so you can all come together and say whoa is me.
I don't, oh man I ain't getting along with my wife, you know what people do, they go
hang out with four other dudes that ain't getting along with theirs either.
I'm not in good physical shape, I'm going to go hang out with four other people that ain't
in shape either.
I'm going to hang out with people that are miserable so it makes me not feel bad versus
getting around for positive people.
So the people that you choose to hang around, the words that you speak, there's power in
the words.
Sometimes you're not going to feel good but at least start catching yourself speaking
negativity into your life.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue, the spoken word.
Watch what you say, words have so much power.
Don't put negative words out into the universe about how you think.
Find up, spin things positive.
Books that you read, audio books that you listen to, podcasts that you listen to, people
that you listen to, things intentionally that you could put into your mind will help you
develop a positive mindset but you got to be intentional about it.
And so that's why I say happiness is hard work because you ain't going to feel like doing
some of these things but you feel like being happy.
But you don't understand being happy is hard work.
Everybody's avoiding the frickin' work.
Everybody's trying to figure out how do I do the least amount of work?
And understand this is the way I think the human body was originally designed.
So you got to break these habits.
How do I expend the least amount of energy?
How do I do the least amount of work?
There is no...
take a pill for this. That's why I always say you got to pay the price. You either pay
now and play later or play now and you're going to pay later but either way you got to pay.
So pay the price to be happy and understand that we got to produce happiness by looking
at ourselves, looking internally, controlling the things that we can control. Here's another
thief of joy is how many things can you think of right now that you're stressed out over
that you don't have any control over. Strength the list. Stop stressing and worrying about
things that you have no control over. Make a list. What are the things that you're grateful
for? Look at them. What are the things and what are the ways that you can help people? Can
you donate five dollars? Can you buy somebody their Starbucks in line? Can you pay for a lady's
groceries in surprise them? Is that what positive things can you do out there? Are you comparing
your chapter one to somebody else's chapter 10? Are you comparing somebody's part of their
life that's great in thinking that everything in their life is great or because you see that moment
that you think everything is great that it makes you forget that other parts of their life
have struggled or are struggling or they're just not struggling currently right now. Understand
that it hasn't been that way always. It's not always that way and don't let that bring you down.
And so I want you guys to focus on your joy, your happiness, being happy, smile a little bit.
I never smiled. Never smiled and pictures was raised in an environment where smiling will get
you beat up. It showed a sign of weakness. So smile, you're breathing. If you're listening to this,
you got up, you got another shot. It's a new day. That's what the whole grind stands for. Get ready.
