Count money, man, money, man, bitches.
I'm trying to talk, trying to talk to my beast, but
what's up gang welcome back to another episode of the grind
cast get ready to new day.
Got my man, my business partner, my good friend Ryan Shayze here
in the house. Welcome back to the grind cast. Ryan, what's
happening? What's up, man? Appreciate you having. Yeah, let's
have some fun with it today. So everybody knows the your
journey, you know, of of being a first round draft pick,
being an all pro linebacker, everything going through the NFL,
but talk to us a little bit about what has been like for you
obstacles, how you overcame them just what has been like for
you transitioning out of playing sports and out of the NFL
into running your own companies multiple different companies
and own and businesses. So the one thing that a lot of people
just don't realize is when it comes to sports, when it comes to
business is the outside looking in. They always look a lot
easier than it is. You know, so when the sports and business
force and business. So when it came to transitioning into
business, you know, I was assuming almost like a fan of how
things should go, how things I wanted them to go, but just like
sports, just like in real life, things don't go exactly how you
want them to. So it's been a it's been a good transition, but
it's been a tough transition because it's transitioning into
something that you really don't know that you don't have a lot
of experience in is it's difficult, but I feel like I have good
people around me like yourself, like Michael, like a few of
friends like Thomas and you know, Coach Tomman, a lot of people
I know Kevin Coburn, they all did a they do a good job for
constantly pouring into me to help me just get better, but it is
difficult and I'm constantly learning every day. I think
you're crushing it, you know, from the outside looking in, you
know, if you if you look at somebody that's just learning, you
know, how to do something for the first time that they haven't
done, it's easy for them to not realize how good that they're
doing because they're looking at somebody else's chapter 10 and
looking at their own chapter one and thinking, man, I'm so
far behind, especially as a competitor, you know, somebody that
has the mindset that you have just like another, you know,
thing you were talking about is, you know, people probably
could look at your career in sports and think, oh, he just
was blessed and gifted, you know, naturally, that's why he, you
know, won and that's why he was good, but you were blessed with
some with some gifts and actually, but it was more than that, you
know, in the work ethic and all of that.
No, it was I was definitely blessed with gifts, but as a young
kid, my dad constantly used to try to work on, you know, helping
me with those gifts. So like when a lot of kids getting
trainers and all that stuff now, back then, guys didn't really
have trainers and my dad, you know, he would work extra jobs, do
extra work just so he can take me to a trainer just so I can
learn a little bit of speed training. I had like some of his
good friends were coaches, so they just constantly taught me
the ins and outs of just the game with football and then he
coached itself. So all those little things, I feel it helped me
understand the game with football a lot more than the average
guy, the average guy, you know, they played and they learned from
somebody teaching them the game, but they just kind of learned
from experience. But I had a lot of wisdom even from high school
in college just to understand my job and everybody else job. So
I was definitely blessed, but like you said, I have to have hard
work. My dad used to work three job, like two, three jobs. He's
a pastor. He's a pastor now and he still hustles on the side and
tries to get, you know, do really stay. He tries to do a lot of
other things and constantly try to provide. And, you know, that's
one thing he always taught me, even when I was playing always
trying to provide, always try to be somebody that's going to
H tomorrow, do the H to do the H to work. So I think I think
you're killing it in the transition right now watching you. You
got two successful companies, both of them are profitable in their
first year, shade trucking, shade zero agencies in the
insurance business, what we're doing, both of them are
profitable. I think you're killing it at both of them. They
got obstacles, they got adversities time, time that you got to
put in, but I've watched you not only on that on that aspect
of things. And because of your brand, you still do speaking
engagements and all this other stuff. But I've watched you
transition in a more tragic way than most people. And they
still, most people cannot transition as well out of high level
sports the way that you've been able to do it first, mentally,
because when a lot of times when people transition out of
sports, they almost get a little bit of a light. All right, I'm
starting to understand I might not be planned as forever. I'm
starting to understand I might not be planned as forever. I'm
starting to understand. And they have this gradual sense of
starting to understand versus, you know, you're at the not even
the peak of your career, you're just starting to accomplish
some things, you know, two time all pro linebacker, first
team, you know, all pro linebacker killing it, you know,
becoming one of the best players in the game at your position
at linebacker. And tragically, all of a sudden you go from that to
man, I might not even ever walk again to battling back to being
able to dance at your wedding and do box jumps. And yesterday we
was out there playing hoops and volleyball and you know, I mean,
and all of that stuff to build a business and being a husband and
being a father and keeping it all together. You know, I know
people don't always see every dark moment, every, you know, thought
isn't always on that journey. You know, I hasn't always been
cake, but put somebody else in your shoes and your situation.
There's no way most people are handling it the way that you've
been able to handle it. Essentially going back to the process
like starting to play the game again, a football again, where
the same traits are going to pass over minus the speed, the
mindset is going to make you great. And it's already started
to make you great in business. What do you think are some things
that even though it's hasn't been easy? I've watched people go
through less than you've had taken from you at one point and not
be able to handle the transition half as well to what you're
doing right now. What what are maybe some tips that you would say
has helped you in the transition? First is God, you know, just
having a good relationship with God. And I'm going to be honest,
having a good relationship with God doesn't mean that it's
perfect. You know, I have my ups and downs. I have days when I'm
actually God, why this why that why is my family going through
this situation? Like right now in my life, I'm going through a
rainy season. You know, like just this right now, I just feel
like like like you said, I'm killing it, but I feel like I'm
going through a rainy season. You know, so it then you just
have to understand that every every everybody's life, there's
you know, there's a sunny season and there's a rainy season. You
know, you just have to realize that. So when I have my spinal
quandary, I understand that's a rainy season, you know, it
then, but I knew that it was going to be a way out. I knew
that I was going to walk again. I knew that I was going to be
able to be the guy I wanted to be again. So I just started
thinking more about the sunny days and then one step at a time,
one brick at a time. I remember listening to Will Smith,
Arrows, Denzel, watch that camera, exactly why I don't want to
miss quote the wrong guy, but he was saying when he was younger,
he would talk to his dad and I think it was he was a quote that
he said, and the dad was basically saying, man, we have to
build his wall and Will and his brother was complaining like,
man, it felt like we never going to finish this wall, because
he had to lay one brick at a time, one brick at a time. Here's
like, if you're thinking about the wall at the end of the wall
being done, you never going to get to it. But if you're thinking
about it, one brick at a time, you know, by your by the time
of your come, the wall is done. And that's kind of how I thought
about my whole situation. I'm just like, I'm laying one brick
at a time, we used to quote one first down at a time in football,
it's unlike a lot of sports, you know, you get a bunch of
first downs, give you the option to get a touchdown. In basketball,
soccer, you can just go school right away in football, you know,
is one, one first down at a time, and then you get a touchdown.
And that's kind of how I was with my life. And I'm still doing
that right now when it comes to just transition and just
understanding you have rainy season. Sometimes you don't have
to turn over. Sometimes you don't have challenges. But you've
got to turn over. Another thing, bless you. Another thing you did
in that transition was start the Ryan Shay's ear spinal cord
rehabilitation fund that has been awesome. Just in the years
that I've watched, what you've been able to accomplish, the money
you've been able to raise to impact other people, the impact
you've had on other people, tell us a little bit about the
progress and things you've been able to accomplish with that.
So the right Shay's ear fund for spinal rehabilitation, man,
is truly excited about it. That was the first business I
actually started, you know, because the foundation is definitely
a business. That's the first business I started in and right now,
we're raising, we're raising hundreds of thousands to millions of
dollars. But you don't get the millions of dollars and hundreds of
thousands, right? So when people hear that sometimes, you know,
I've had people say to me, are they, you know, I, I, I know why you
set up that, you know, youth program, like that cost me money.
That don't make me a nickel. Never, never has made me $1.
You know, I haven't made one penny from the right Shay's ear fund.
Not one penny. So what you mean by that's a business is you
got to run it like a business. You have to run the right
business. And then you just have to make sure you have the right
pieces of place to write people in place to understand what the
business strategy and the purpose of the business is. And the
business strategy and the purpose of my business is a lot of
people to have independence again, a lot on the half support
and be able to, you know, walk again, be able to be a
moving around that house again, because everybody's not on the
wall. Everybody's not going to be Ryan Shay's here, you know,
and I'm blessed to be here. But it gives them the opportunity to
get another chance at it. A lot of times insurance or
are the things that provided to them when it comes to health
insurance, only give them about, you know, 30 sessions of
rehab. And I tell people, a time, if you gave in so 30 chances,
the wall, he'd never be walking. Right. You know, so it's
kind of saying thing when it comes to, so you were blessed to
have more more because of the Steelers and insurance and all
that in your situation. And most people you're thinking, man,
if I'd have got cut off at 30 out of being in trouble. So let me
do something to bridge that gap for other people. 100% like
if I if I never got as much rehab as I got, only with the
guy being this in this room right now, because this is upstairs,
you know, saying we would have to figure out another way to
have this podcast somewhere else. You know, but I was blessed
with more rehab. So I wanted the foundation to be able to
provide more rehab, provide more resources to individuals with
that. But then also a lot of their families to understand
the dynamic. Because most people when they're going when they're
dealing with a spinal cord injury or somebody in a, that's
handicapped, they they don't really know anybody that that
relates with that. So I've seen people in wheelchairs when I was
hurt. And I always, you know, say, hey, God bless that person,
bad day, that was me. So I just kept it moving. But when you
actually going through it yourself, you don't actually know
what you're about is, you don't know what you about the
encounter is. So I wanted to found started foundation to be able
to help the families and the person that's going through it.
And the foundation and that motivation, you know, let into the
inspiration. And we keep the book over here walking miracle.
Give us a little bit of a brief synopsis of what's what's
walk, what's in walking miracle?
So it's honestly is just talking about how I overcame, but
having about having a positive mindset and that just who I am
I'm a very positive person. And then just trusting God. And
the day like in the book, it talks about sometimes I doubted
God, sometimes I was actually God, I was actually God more
of why me. But then, you know, I started to really think about
it and stop accent, why me in star action, why not me, you
know, and I talk about that in the book. But it also talks
about just how everybody has struggles through childhood
until, you know, you're you did. Basically, everybody has a
struggle. You get to understand how to overcome that struggle.
And my book, talk about how to overcome struggles because
even to this day, something, everything might look good to
you right now, but you might have something you're going to do
with your personal life. I know, like I said, right now, I'm
having a rainy season. And everybody has something that they're
going through in life. And as a kid, and pretty much as an
adult, everything that I've gone through in my life, it has been
people can see it. I've been bald since I was five years old.
People can see that I ask, go to the ocean. So like, obviously
everybody can see that. But the people whenever I took my
shirt off, people can see my back was a little bit disoriented.
When I got an injury, it was on national news. When I got
my spinal cord injury, national and worldwide news.
You know, so it's just like my whole life has kind of been
people seeing what I'm going through. But a lot of people have
things in their day to day life that nobody knows what they're
going through. Their mom might be having cancer. Their
system might be having cancer. Their your mom might have lost
a job. They might be homeless, you know, but the end of
the day, people pit up a front, you don't really get to see it.
So the biggest thing I try to just talk about in my book is
just overcoming all that and just understanding that there's
a light in the tunnel, just stay positive because
I never seen one person be successful. They had a negative
mindset. Amen. Can't have a positive life with a negative
mindset. Talk about needing to be positive and
bringing yourself from obstacles and adversity. You know, a lot
of times we think we're going through obstacles and adversity.
But we got to think about relative relative to what. And so I
think your book will be able to inspire and relate, you
know, to a lot of people. So where would where would people
be able to find the book walking miracle? Where they where
they buy everything else at Amazon Amazon. You can buy it on
Amazon. You can buy that most most places in PA,
at your local bookstore at Barnes and Obos. But yeah,
I'm gonna make it easy on you getting in the day and Amazon.
One day. One day. Love it. Love it. So tell tell us tell
tell us why, you know, because it didn't happen overnight.
It wasn't something that we even really ever planned. You
know, we've been friends for years and it never even really
came up. And eventually we're like, you know what?
You ended up saying let's let's start an agency.
you know together so you open up and chose to partner with us as an agency opening up the Ryan
Shazier and Churren's agency over here. What do you think gave you the confidence or made you want
to start doing that? I'm gonna be honest man I'm really excited about my team. My team so far has
been killing it. You know and what maybe want to get involved is obviously or something's a good
friend of mine and I just started thinking about the long term you know and and I started looking
into it. I started looking into the insurance industry and just seeing how it constantly
our blesses so many individuals yourself but all the individuals that you bring in with you
and when I started to learn more about residual income and renewals and just how I can bless myself
but also bless families by providing them insurance for when their family members passed away
within also the people on my team I can also provide them support you know help them when it comes
introducing them to opportunities that I never had before. Did you understand? Did you ever know
before that that residual income was a part of insurance or or anything like that? I don't
be honest I didn't know it as much you know I didn't so you think it's explain to somebody that
don't understand it at all what does that mean like renewals residuals. So renewals residuals so one
thing that people like to I like to tell people and most people that watch YouTube nowadays are all
born in the 2000s so you guys probably don't know who soundfailed it so I'm going to use somebody
that you guys do know so if you're thinking about somebody like Drake right or you're thinking
that somebody like Michael B. Jordan or Denzel Washington every time they're on TV or every time they
make a song and it could have been 10 years ago every time you watch it they make money off of it
you know so for work that is passed due passed done you still get paid off of that work so that
is what renewals is and insurance also provides that so providing you know the support and help
that you bring families you know every month for the rest of your life you can still get paid on
that after the work you put in so obviously I can't sing like Drake you know but he's still
getting paid off of the best I ever had and you know Denzel Washington is still getting paid off
and in those movies and those songs were made over 10 years ago so and that's the end of the
thing when it comes to insurance when your team constantly you know providing support to families
allowing them to be able to you know provide you know funds for when somebody passed away or start
an estate plan for somebody you know we're still getting blessed to be able to be helped with that
for the rest of our lives too. Yep and I think you know how many months have you had your agency open now
I think it'll be officially three two three months now. Just say three months right three months max
and what you've been able to accomplish in three months is crazy you know as other businesses that
you've done and opened you know from time you open them up usually they ain't going to be profitable
within a 90-day span but you guys have been able to kill it you guys have been able to be super
profitable and when you come from you know a number one draft pick making eight million dollars a
year on your contract you know it's not as big of a deal but to normal folks walking around
which you've been able to accomplish is what was you what was you making it was eight million a year
I'm talking public information just tell us what was you making so I had a sign in bonus for eight
million dollars but I knew I've seen eight million open here somewhere okay sign a bonus was eight
million yeah so my first contract was eight million dollars love it sick but it wasn't it wasn't
eight million a year every single year yeah that's a little bit different yeah big time yeah but like
you said even even the individual like me I was blessed to have you know eight million dollars coming
to bank and but the thing is just for people for the real lives the more the more money you get the
bigger your your bills get the biggest misses get the bigger your toys get so it's great it's great
having eight million dollars but you also got to still provide for your family and bring in
amen bringing money eight million dollars people can say it and you can watch me and don't think I'm
about to sound crazy but eight million dollars can last you a lifetime and it can last some people
a lifetime but it can last me a lifetime amen you know so um so 90 days in big weeks you've had a
couple good weeks yeah months biggest week or biggest month of income so far out of your agency all
all right so it so only been we only been around for three months and already I probably made like
45,000 in one month so far come on it's really been a blessing we had a ain't too many businesses
doing that 90 days yeah you definitely not doing that but how about the people you've been able to
impact and help some of the young people on your team yeah it's crazy yeah some of them would have
they done yeah I actually have a young guy my team he made more money than me this month he I think
he probably made like 50 50 60,000 this month he's been killing who is that Evan Pinkerton
pink yeah Evan Pinkerton how does pink can't be 22 years old that's when I started yeah
and then every year and braining he made around 40,000 dollars as well so three people on my team
they made around 40 50,000 dollars this month just along lower lower 20s lower 20s what why do you think
about that you know most businesses you super smart too I didn't know you knew the president's like
that either doubt he was yesterday he was ripping off all the presidents who was the president of this
country you know that and the way way beyond that was way over my pay grade but now that you've
you've dabbled and seen other businesses and stuff like that how does this differentiate from
other businesses you know to the positive would would you say as far as expenses go and you know start
up costs and all that stuff so the thing is I have two companies in the the difference between
the insurance and other company I have is there's not a lot of expenses that you have to deal with
there's not a lot of backing work that when you're first coming into the company that you have
to pay for right away you know so obviously you get blessed you know you have to work a lot in
just like any other company but I'm gonna just have two examples I own the trucking company
I might can make a hundred thousand dollars in a month but I've also spent in 90 80
thousand dollars all sometimes I heard a thousand dollars a month while if I made 50 thousand
dollars a month and insurance I might I might have to spend two three five at most and that five
is actually just pouring back into my team you know rewarding the guys that are on the squad you know but
I'm not this type of guy but if I wanted to make 50k and not put it back into the business I could
yes you know because it's you don't really have any back in its business but it's not but you're not
going to be a successful guy if you're not pouring back into your business 100 percent you know so
reinvesting yeah reinvesting into your team reinvesting into your squad a lot of times people think
well for me to really act like an entrepreneur and own an agency I gotta go out and start my own
insurance company from scratch no you don't have to do that you talk to us about that a little bit
now so you really don't have to do that and like I was saying I'm blessed because I'm a brother
Simon he's probably one of the greatest insurance men in the country you know and then we have a
whole squad over here so one thing that's so blessed about us over here is that we are we have guys
that are killing like Evan like Braden like Joey's and these are young guys that their life is
insurance right now so for somebody you can just come in learn with us be on our squad we have
some of the best trainers to treat to train you and then as you continue to develop you're going to
get promoted and there's no ceiling here you know so as as instead of you opening up your own
insurance agency you can come work with us and when you're with us you're still your own
insurance agency exactly you know so as you continue to get promoted and bring people in underneath
you they're still on your squad so you'll be on my squad I'm with Simon I'm on his squad we're
partners but in a day we're all partners there's no there's no cap to this growth if somebody wants
to read Simon level they can but it's just just understand it's going to take a lot to get there put
in the words yeah I think one of the things I didn't understand when I started you know that
most companies don't have is the resources that you're able to give your agency and the team
the clients and all that stuff you know they don't have to reach out to family members and friends
and stuff right yeah that's the one thing that's really cool about us is that we don't call call
and we're not making you go out to your mom and your aunt and your cousin and like hey I need to
sell life insurance and you're just making money off your family also you know at end day most
people when you're starting off a business the first supporters you want our friends and families
to support you but in a day we don't need that we have warm leads and the guys that are killers
they constantly get more and more leads you know so like Evan lasts a few months he's been just going
crazy so the company's like hey we're just gonna continue to give you more leads because you're
capitalizing on the information that we're giving you you know so here you could just start off with
warm leads you can start off you know you'll have you literally have a list of people to call
and all these people would know that somebody may be giving them a call relatively so yeah so
it's a lot easier selling or talking to somebody when they already know that your body gives them a
call imagine what do you think it's like working at an AT&T store and a new episode phone comes out
it's like you know people coming in there to get an iPhone you just got to do the you just can't
can't say the wrong thing you know like imagine working at an Apple store and the new iPhone come out
it is and somebody's like man I'm you know I'm thinking about getting a new phone but I don't know
to like the only way you don't sell a phone is if you mess up and that's kind of the situation
that we have over here you help very similar but imagine every time they sold a phone
they got paid on it for the rest of the life of that person having that phone yeah 100% so you're like
imagine you sell a thousand dollar phone you get half of the half of the thousand dollars and then
every time somebody makes their pay their phone bill you get a percentage of the phone bill
what are what are some of your goals here with Shazier agencies you know when you look at man here's
my goals for this business this is what I want to do this so I want to do it what are some of the
goals you got for your agency man some of the goals is honestly I just want to continue to just
bring in bringing a solid group of guys you know so I want to start off with you know at least
solid ten ten solid leaders because right now my my squad is growing but as you know my squad is
doing well but as we continue to do well people get promoted yeah so like Brady's got promoted so
it it helps me and it helps him but it also drops my squad a little bit so I want to continue to see
guys get promoted continue to bring guys in so honestly I just want to I want to have I remember
one of the you know visions and in I actually kind of a twofold question is you know when we first
started of men I want to help you know athletes you know that are coming out of high school or
college you know I want to do a lot with athletes but not only athletes you know but it seems like
you you've done a good job helping athletes transition you know into the business why do you think
athletes do do well in our business in general one reason I think athletes do well in our
business is because it's just a competitive mindset you know it's the like football every single day
you have to go out there and give your best but then you also have guys on your squad that's
trying to help you give your best you know so the reason I think athletes do well here is because
every time you get on the phone it's like a competition you know you're trying to you're trying to
understand the best way to let people know what's best for them and their families but then you're
also competing having a good time joking around with guys around saying mages you but then but
you're still trying to beat those guys like me you you know we're really good friends but we
get on the basketball court or we're doing something wrestling or doing anything we're friends but
in that moment I'm trying to beat you know down to be me no doubt and I think I think good friendships
always drive all for a competition but also good business also throws off of that as well and I
think that's why athletes do really well in this industry they got the competitive nature I used to
to you know I told people I think coming out of college you know this being my first job it was
easy for me what was hard for other people which was the time commitment you know to build a business
you know starting out any business you could build ice cream business donut business trucking
company whatever it is you're gonna have to put in a certain amount of time up front in order to
get that sucker rolling yes sir playing college football you know we both played college football
just on two different levels but I had to go to study table had to go to school had to take tests had
to travel to away games you know to them from away games wasn't off when everybody else was off
summers were a little bit unique versus other people able to take trips and vacations and all that
stuff so it's really like having two jobs when you play football you know you play college football
is like all right my job here I'm putting in 30 40 hours a week into football with recovery practice
weight room condition and rehab film room all of that travel you know 30 40 hours then I got to
put a certain amount of hours full time a full time student a lot of people are just they're just
full time students for the little job on the side now we got this and that and until now it was
hard for even people to make money while you're working you know playing football going to school at
the same time I think for me that was an easy transition you know a lot of people came in as oh man
these are you know a lot of hours are you know or whatever to start out and I'm thinking man this
is almost less hours for me after playing college sports and going to school at the same time without
my coach waking me up at five o'clock in the morning to run you know the main side football sports a
lot of times like in the outside looking in everybody think hey I remember my cousin told me this
before he's like I was like I'm going to work when I was I was working with a status I'm like I'm
going to work you know what you mean he was a police officer at a time and he's still there so
having talked to him in a while but he said he's like you don't work when I was like you sure he's like
you know he like you don't work you just go out there and play football you know I'm saying
You might, you know my practice in there, but like practice hour long my art cool. So I just come to work with me
So we were so proud of what you so I have one day
I say coach Tomman I might have my cousin come with me because he basically said that we don't work
Because I'm not really very cool. No problem. And then so I had him like just shout out me for the day
I woke up at four four eight four eight four eight five eight a wake up at four or five a.m.
405 not four or five four oh five four oh five we woke up at four oh five
Got ready went to the gym 445 worked out got to the facility six a.m.
Wash film for three hours and he's like ain't really he's like
He's like
Yeah, nobody here yet. Like like like like like people start coming in or whatever. He's not cool
We's nine o'clock me and starts but got me is from nine to about 11 this 12-ish
After that boom now we have practice from one to three
Boom now we're done here like all right. He like we about at home like no like I like I gotta I gotta I gotta you know recover
So then I left
Went to get treatment. I went to go you know study and just spend some time with the guys like
We spent we spent time with God treatment at the same time spent time so I was getting like I could punch you this this and that I get home about seven
eight out of clock
It's like they really like that's a long day
And I was like I'm like you were like you were that long you like hell no
And I'm like like I thought you said I'm worried like I have a whole new respect for you bro bang
Quick 16 hour day
Four to eight I did that every day and then to
We're not working 16 hour days here. Obviously. It's a lot. You know eight to eight. That's a long day. It's a very long day
But they if somebody tell you you were eight eight
You can make a hundred thousand dollars
five hundred thousand dollars or a million dollar a million dollars in your first second year third year
Are you gonna you gonna take it? You were 12 hours a week
12 hours a day you can make a million dollars a year
Are you gonna take it most seeing the deal from the inside now building your own organization?
What type of people
Do the best here from what you see?
Like if you had to say these type of folks end up doing the best
What would you say would be some of the I say in front? I say former athletes
They do really well former military do really well people that are self-discipline self-motivate
We self-discipline self-motivated. I'll have to wake you up until you a this is what you got to do and
somebody that's not
scared of being told no to you
What do you think you know we keep bringing up the sports background and stuff?
What do you think are some of the similarities from the sports background that transfers
Over here even from a leadership standpoint and coaching standpoint
You know if somebody was a coach or somebody was in leadership and sports transfer and over here
What do you think are some of the similarities?
So when it comes to sports there is multiple coaches and there's levels to
Love us to leadership. So some of you will be like the air coach
You know while we have Brody you know
He's like an assistant coach or you'll be the GM are
Owner you know it in Brody's the GM
And I mean are the head coach and then you know there's a system coaches
And like Joey will be assistant coach or opposition coach. So it's different levels to coaching
But then it's also just talks about just a leadership like the biggest thing like one thing that's really important here is
That we always will harp on leadership hop on constantly teaching and coaching guys
because
unless you're just
You went to college
Born for college for sales. You knew you was getting into this from day one
And you're just an awesome sales person most people want to need coach come near
And so we have people that constantly coach you constantly train you and just show you the ends and also the business and
That's one thing that I think really is important here because of how states Pittsburgh stillers
Alabama's they have some of the best coaches and allow their players potential to actually
Go through the roof a lot of guys go somewhere where they have a coach where they don't reach their potential
You know, I feel like here we do a good job of actually pulling people potential out of them
And sometimes it's sometimes it's hard coaching sometimes is just just being on the guy, you know
But I think a combination of both really less some of the top dogs or so
Speaking of Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers, you know, I was I was always intrigued. I never asked you you know really what
Two of your good friends defensive just animals, you know, you know cams one of your better friends cam
Hey, where recently just came back from TJ Watts wedding who's been one of the best defensive players in the game
Also, you know just absolutely a dominant player really on defense for the Steelers
What what things would you say stand out about them?
You had an opportunity to play with both of them. I know TJ really just for one year
But knowing them both, you know, what things do you think make them great other than you know to the normal person that
doesn't get an inside look you know
Oh, they just got it easy. They just were blessed with you know certain gifts that it's got to be more than that
What do you think those two have that other people don't have or that they do that other people don't do one thing that cam
And TJ do a really good job of
Is like they work hard and I know that made that sounds like very cliche, but like they work really hard
Like there's some of the hardest working people I know and it's different types of working hard
So like cam Heyward when he works hard
He is like
The first guy I'm not saying TJ's not but he came like the first guy there last gotta leave very vocal
Make sure that like his teammates work hard
He's just he's just like you told me like leave for the box sample and he's a vocal
Yeah, and he's by example in a vocal leader and TJ's that type of guy
But TJ's more like reserve and he's not like if he if it's important
TJ's gonna speak up, but TJ's like man, I'm I'm doing my I'm gonna do me you know, I'm saying and but I'm gonna push you to get better
But and the one thing TJ had he his hustles ridiculous and he works
Ridiculously hard and when I mean that his hustles ridiculous like describe it versus everybody's so like if we all go through the same
Weight training we all go through the same practice. We all go through the same sprints
Everybody thinks they worked hard. Yes, the whole team worked hard
So what would separate him from working hard? So like let me say this so cam he works hard is by you
See him run and you like man he is running super hard like he's he's going as hard as he can trying to be the first guy
TJ's never stopping
Like it's and it's too totally different type of working hard like if it's a play cam is gonna
Borers you get there super fast
TJ if you don't get that super fast
He's gonna keep going keep going like you're not stopping him not gonna stop until he gets there relentless
He's the word relentless. He does relentless while cam
He's just like he's just a certified. I'm stronger. I'm bigger. I'm better
Then you and TJ's like that too, but it's just like it's two different work cards
You know I'm saying like TJ like people always talks about his hustle like TJ gets sacks
When the plays not even close to him and it's a minute the court about has the ball for 10 seconds
While cam you know you know he's gonna get a sack by the end of the day because he just works so hard that
He just is he's bound to happen. Oh
You know I'm saying plies the life
So I think as we start to
You know wrap up there's four ways that stick out to me that I think you can help people and an impact people
One is the book the walking miracle. We talked about that
If there's people out there that need
inspiration
To pull yourself up from a dark place especially if they've had any type of disability or or people would tell them they
It wasn't gonna walk again. I mean, that's a no-brainer walking walking miracle, but
Shade trucking tell us a little bit about which Shade trucking does also the trucking business. So the Shade trucking is
A a trucking company a logistics company. We focus like the focal our focal point is on moving cars
so and
When I mean moving cars, I promise you if you're looking at its podcast
We can take your car. It doesn't matter if you got a million dollar car
Are you got a five thousand dollar car? Let me take it off like we've so I know somebody but I don't know my cars too
He's like we've taken two million dollars before so it's like I have some of the best drivers in the country
Yeah, I really feel comfortable on the road. We constantly
Give you ship two million dollar cars before yeah, my goodness. Yeah, yeah, we should two million dollars cars before so
We we have a solid company
Sometimes see my trucks on the side of the building because we have the guys that constantly come in
It's a family on business me and my father on it
My my father's, you know, he was in the military where he's also a pastor so you know, we're Godfaring, but we're also you know
Uh
Man in this country
But it's just a it's a family based operation
But we also have guys that you just really can trust if you all if you want to update on what what your car don't we you know
We have GPS tracking if you want to see where your car is at at all times
Um, if you all you want to call us we we always picking up a cause and I and I feel like we're we're we have a reasonable rate
I'm be honest we're not the cheapest guys
But we are some of the most efficient guys, you know
So when you're dealing with with big assets, you don't want to you don't want to always deal with the cheapest cheapest don't always mean the best yeah, right
So
A lot of times I notice the cheapest isn't the best
Most of the time it's not you know, so yeah, so um honestly, I feel like
Shade trucking is doing a great job
We got four or five guys on the road at all times we have open trailers for you know if somebody has a Jeep if you have
If you have a Jeep you want to pin it in close you can but if somebody has a Jeep somebody has a four focus fusion
You know who D whatever kind of car you have we can take it then we've taken Lamborghini's we take it in Ferrari
SF 90's we taking anything you name it rose royces everything about the foundation. How could people
What type of people can reach out for help with the final with the spinal cord injuries and stuff like that
How can we help people there? So honestly if you go to Ryan shades there fun. Orc
Ryan shazier fund
Fun dot org. Yeah, what did you do? Okay? Okay?
Dot org and then you can just learn about the foundation
You're under volunteer there's ways to be able to help on there if you know somebody with a spinal cord injury
There's ways to get in contact with us on there
um
Yeah, but I feel like that's the best way that people can help out if you want to donate you can click me can go on there as well
So I think that's that's one of the things
One of ways you can go with Shay truck is
Shay truck and dot com and then for
Shazier agency is shazier agencies
love it. So shazier agencies
I know you and I were talking a little bit about you know coming into this next year
Doing some really big things, you know in the insurance business in in the game with people
And I you know, I know I can personally stand behind. I'm gonna personally help you develop a couple of them
You know couple special ones. We're gonna be bringing on more
But I mean
one or two special ones. I'll actually put my hands around them and arms around them also, you know with you
If you're out there, you know, if you're one of the one or two, you know people that want that mentorship and guidance
You know from Ryan and in in myself
Just know we're waiting on you and
And it's real, you know people say don't believe the height believe the height because you could see the hype
I could show you better than I could tell you and we could show you
But man describe the couple people that we're looking for, you know, I was telling you I don't think it really takes
A hundred people the other day. Yeah, one or two good ones, you know
one or two game changers
And we could change their life in it in the in the same token while that's going on
They could they could help us blow the business up, you know
Also, but really it's just about helping those people change their life
The couple people we're looking for you know talk to them out there
You know if it's them what would what you what you got to say to them man
If this is what you're interested in if you really want to be able to change your life be able to just see
Opportunity of growth
In your life in your pockets, but in other people's lives definitely contact us, but you know if yourself motivated
if you're somebody that
Who you know is driven by you know making a good income from themselves
But then also somebody that can take hard coach and somebody that can that wants to be better
Somebody that can actually lead a group of guys and
You don't you don't mind a little work
Because you understand that works don't pay off
If that's if that's you definitely hit us up. I tell you this this this is the way
I've always looked at people that man. How have you gotten such high caliber, you know people
My belief in what this business can do and what people can do here
You know, I feel super confident if you give me somebody that got a work ethic
That's gonna be coachable and listen to you know listen to everything
And we'll come into it, you know with with the mindset of out working people
Which you know goes along with the with the work ethic with a competitive spirit
Ain't no reason why those people ain't making six figures whether it's a hundred thousand or nine hundred thousand
You know year number one and same thing with you know if you ain't doing it year number one
There's no reason why that didn't happen in year number two and we got young people
You know an old people, you know, we got young people doing it
We got new people doing it in our first couple years coming out making a couple hundred thousand dollars year
Number one, you know four five hundred year your number two and so we're not looking for everybody
We're just looking for one or two, you know special people that that we can impact
So if people wanted to connect with you in any way
I know social media is one way. It's not as formal, but probably just a simple direct message
You know maybe to your Instagram or something. Yeah, what's your Instagram? If you just hit me on shazier
That's it nice and simple. It's just shazier shazier. Yeah
If you just if you just hit me up on shazier on Instagram
Ryan shazier on Twitter, but my Twitter. I don't think a lot people
You can really hit me up on there,
but just hit me up on Shazier on Instagram.
All you can hit up Shazier.agency on Instagram as well.
So if you contact us on any of those,
we'll definitely get back to you.
Not always, the people have the opportunity
to be in on something at the grassroots level.
Imagine if you could have been in on Chick-fil-A
when it first started around Apple,
when it first started.
Trust and believe, people got the opportunity
to be around what you're building right now
while it first is getting born and first getting started.
And I would just tell you, I look back at another former Buckeye
in my friend, Maurice Claret.
And I remember him having some unfortunate circumstances
as a young person, so young, 19, 20 years old,
and making some decisions after winning a national title.
He goes to prison for four or five years.
And I had an opportunity to spend time with him
when he got out of prison in the first few years.
And I'll get moving.
And I'll remember thinking to myself and telling him
and him not doubting it, either.
He knew it the whole time.
I'm like, man, I'm telling everybody that would listen.
I'm like, man, Reese, you're going to impact more people
off the football field and do more off the football field
than you was ever done already so far on the football field.
And it's hard to see that in the first few years
of everything getting rolling.
But when you fast forward now and look,
10 years on the journey and see the things
that Maurice has been able to accomplish in his businesses
and impacting other people in the community,
multi-millionaire, same woman he been with since college.
And as a father and everything else, man, I see,
I feel like I have an opportunity to have a front row seat
again with somebody like that.
That people wouldn't even expect what's getting ready
to happen out of you, man.
And I think you've already started to do it
because you've flipped the negative into a positive
and I've watched the people that you've impacted
which are spinal cord rehabilitation fund
and the things that the people you've impacted
that never would have been impacted
if it wasn't for you starting that thing.
But businesses are rolling too, you know, right now, man.
And I know if we fast forward this tape
or rewind this in a couple of years, man,
you're going to see what I'm talking about.
I think God hasn't even scratched the surface
with what he's going to do through you and with you
for other people in and out of business, man.
And I'm just glad to have a front row seat
to help you, man.
But anybody looking to be served in any way,
if we can help you with shipping your cars,
if we can inspire you, would a book,
if we can inspire you through social media,
if you want to come build a business with you,
we're just getting started, man.
Would you got your last years in your 20s?
Or are you 30 yet?
No, 30 instead of 30.
Last year's last little bit of time in your 20s,
man, we're just getting rolling.
You got an opportunity to get on now.
So hit us up if you want to get your life changed.
If you know some people that can be impacted,
feel free to share it.
And as always, for the listeners,
thanks for joining us on another episode of the Groundcast.
Get ready as a new day.
