Personal Development with Compensation
Show notes
Saw an IG reel recently where the guy said, “Our job is a personal development plan w compensation attached.”
It doesn’t matter what specific career you’re in. In most cases, the levels of success & compensation you achieve are directly linked to the ways you have personally grown and become a more valuable asset.

Count money, man.
Money, man.
Stacked riches.
I'm trying to told him I'm a beast, but...
What's up gang?
Welcome back to another episode of The Grind Caste.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
We're going to give us a quick shot of espresso today.
We're going to keep this to about 10 minutes or so for you.
And listen, our job.
This is The Grind Caste.
This is The Growth Caste.
This is where we come to grow.
This ain't the content stagnant place that you come...
So, if we're all on The Grind, if we're all on the...
We're in growth mode, our job is personal growth.
I saw Instagram real recently.
It said, our job is personal development.
Our job is a personal development plan with compensation attached.
It said, our job is a personal development plan with compensation attached.
Our job is a personal development plan with compensation attached.
And so, the compensation comes from your personal growth and development.
Because sometimes people want something that they haven't become.
And if you want it, then you have to become it.
And then you'll attract it.
And the compensation will follow the person that you become.
This is like...
So, for the business that I'm in,
this is perfect for us.
Like, I'm always preaching and teaching personal growth, personal development,
in order to be the best leader to others.
You've got to be the best leader that you could be for yourself.
You pour into yourself.
You're going to be able to pour into others.
But I feel like it applies to everybody and everything and everywhere.
Your income increases in proportion to your personal growth and development oftentimes.
At least your happiness and joy and the things that you're able to attain.
Even if it's not your income all the time.
But all these things rise when you rise.
When you raise these things elevate.
And guess what?
It stalls when you stall.
You can't get to a place where you think,
oh man, I made it already.
I'm 50 years old.
I'm 40 years old.
I'm 60 years old.
I've been doing it for 10 years, 15 years.
I could fall off the wagon.
If you fall off and you rely on your past success,
best case is you plateau.
But most of the time, worst case is you fall off completely because we're either growing or we're dying.
So your money, the money, oh man, I want this money.
I want this boat.
I want your income is going to be directly related to the value that you could create out there in society.
And so what we want to make sure that we're doing is that we're creating the value in ourself.
In the minute that you stop creating value to the marketplace,
if you don't create value, that's where your decline starts.
So sometimes people think, I've been at it for 10 years.
You know, I'm good.
If you stop creating value to the market, to the people, to your job, to whatever it is.
You don't create value anymore.
That's where you start your decline.
The value you bring is based on constant growth.
Your income never outgrows and stays there without personal development.
You can outgrow it for a minute, but sooner or later you're going to rise or fall on your personal growth and development.
Growth is not a bonus. It's your job.
You got to grow.
Money usually isn't the problem. The mindset is the problem.
Your mindset is the problem. Starts with your mindset, then the money.
Your income is going to rise to the level of your habits, your hunger, and your commitment.
Your results are a reflection of your standards.
What standards are you holding yourself to?
It's easy to hold other people to a certain standard,
but when's the last time you held yourself to a certain standard?
You can get paid by the hour or you can get paid by the value that you bring to the hour.
Your potential, how many times do you want?
This kid got so much potential.
This girl got so much potential.
Potential isn't rewarded long term. Only results are.
If you want more, you got to become more.
It starts with the way that you think.
Better thinking is going to create better action.
Better action is going to create better outcomes.
Your income is just a scoreboard in business.
For talking about business, we're talking about income might not be the goal for some of you out there listening to this.
You replace income with whatever the goal is, but in a business realm,
and people are out there trying to make money and you're in a value.
I want to make more money. I want my business to be bigger.
I want my business to do more money.
More numbers.
More numbers income is the scoreboard.
It shows the tally of the value and the solutions that you've been able to provide.
Champions consistently outgrow themselves.
That was the old me three years ago.
We got a brand new version of myself.
How many times do you hear people say, man, that's just the way I am.
That's just the way I am.
Man, I'm proud of that.
We got to get out of that because the way you are is only going to get you so far.
The next level is going to cost you the way you are.
It's going to take yourself to another level.
You got to change.
You got to evolve.
You got to grow.
You got to adapt.
That's why humans are still here today because we've adapted and we adapt and we evolve.
Other species, other things out there that are not here because they didn't adapt and they didn't evolve.
That was just the way they were.
That's just the way I am.
That's where you die at.
That's where growth dies at.
It's easy to see how it applies to sales or commission or entrepreneurship.
But you got to understand this applies to all career paths.
Salary or an hourly position.
It don't matter.
Personal development dictates promotions, raises, opportunities.
Developing relationships, developing leadership skills.
It's going to make you the next thing, the next person in line developing yourself is going to make yourself the next thing in line.
Developing new skills makes you harder to replace.
Developing emotional intelligence brings value to the entire organization.
Your network grows as you grow.
And that leads to opportunity.
Personal development increases problem-solving skills.
The bigger problems you can solve, the more success that you're going to have.
Companies pay more to people who solve bigger problems.
Mo money, mo problems.
People want to mo everything.
Mo money, mo this, mo that.
But more things on your plate.
More problems come with it.
Regardless of your specific job, success boils down to discipline and commitment to growth.
Whatever your job is out there, you got to take it personal.
Your job is personal growth and development inside, outside.
That will start to reflect on the outside in your life and whatever your climb is.
We appreciate you guys for joining us on another episode of the Grandcasts.
Get ready as a new day.
