Count money, man.
Money back riches.
I'm trying to talk, trying to talk to my beast, but
what's up gang welcome back to another episode of the grind cast get ready.
It's a new day.
You're going to we're going to talk a little bit about your vision and reinvention.
Reinvent yourself.
And you got to believe in your vision louder than other people doubt it.
Because if you're thinking big enough, people ain't going to believe in you.
And you got to keep the vision clear in front of your mind.
My first thing for we move forward is on vision.
I want you to make sure that whatever your vision is that you have it in front of you
written down.
I like to use a big white grease board and I write it down so I can look at it all the time.
And so I want you to write your vision down.
Keep your vision in front of you and understand that the confidence that you
breathe when you're walking with the belief that you're going to have itself belief
oftentimes looks like arrogance to people without ambition.
And people that aren't consistently paying the price like that belief sometimes
that confidence comes from so much work, so many sacrifices that you breed a
level of confidence in yourself because of all the work and sacrifices that you're
making.
And people that don't have ambition like that.
They don't understand.
So it looks like arrogance.
You got to believe in yourself in your vision at a level that feels irrational to most
people.
And you've heard the old term, if people don't think your vision is crazy, it's probably
not big enough.
If it's not like what?
Yeah.
You probably know it's not too.
So and so I want to challenge you to increase your vision, increase your belief.
And then once you paint that vision clear, now it comes down to execution in the
process where like the repetition of the process is what builds your mastery like it
makes you a master talent is optional.
Discipline is not like if you haven't seen this,
you know, you can see the interview by Mike Tyson where people he's just talking
about how hard he worked.
And they ask him about talent.
You know, do you believe in talent?
Because he's like, it's not really talent.
He's like, yeah, talent helps, but that ain't really it like the majority of it isn't
talent.
And so in a lot of the things that you want talent, you know, having some talent,
it'll help you, but that ain't really the level of talent isn't what matters as
much as discipline matters.
And you need discipline to master things because in order to master things,
you got to repeat things.
In order to repeat things, you're going to have to do boring things.
You got to do the technical things, the boring things consistently over and over and
over and over and over again.
And that's boring.
That's why you know, we say the fundamentals, the first three letters of fundamentals
is fun, but the fundamentals aren't fun.
Repeating the fundamentals and mastering the things that you need to master.
All it is is more practice, more reps and really so what you need is just discipline.
And I want you to challenge yourself there.
How are you doing in the levels of discipline in your life?
And to me, it starts with the discipline of how you're doing everything.
If you don't have the discipline to, to sleep the way you want to sleep, eat the way
you want to eat, work out when you want to work out, do the things you're supposed to
do, work on you like the things that outside you need to have discipline in.
If you don't control that, it's going to be difficult for you to control having the discipline
at mastering your craft because we got to be consistent.
How often do you see people that they come in and they work real hard for a month,
but then they don't work hard the next month.
They have a really good game, but they don't have a good game the next two games.
They have a really hard practice the week going into a game, but then they don't practice
hard like that the rest of the time.
The difference is consistency.
Consistency is the bridge between your potential
and the reality that you end up walking in is the level of consistency that you can operate in.
And you're always not, you're not always going to be motivated.
The test of greatness and a hallmark of excellence is consistency.
And so after belief and then you got some execution,
then it comes reinvention.
Reinvention is you got to be able to reinvent yourself.
You got to be able to sometimes tweak and reinvent your process or reinvent the way that you
were thinking or reinvent who you were in order to get your new life.
And a lot of times that comes from just changing your environment,
your environment influences your habits more than your intentions.
Success comes from who you stand next to a lot of times.
Like who are you with?
Who are you spending the majority of your time with?
Who are you looking up to?
Who is challenging you?
Who is pushing you?
What are you state focused on?
Those are the things that success is built on.
Changing your life starts with changing your people,
changing the people that you're hanging around,
changing the places that you're hanging around, and changing your routine.
Which means you may need to reinvent yourself.
Like, oh, this isn't how, this is just not how I am.
You know, I'm not a morning person or I always, you know, this is just what we do.
I just always have Sunday dinners, you know, with my family or I always do the,
you know, the NFL draft with my friends and we all pick teams or whatever.
Like there's just some things that you might need to cut out.
There's some people you might need to change.
It doesn't mean they're bad people, but you may need to get a new circle.
You may need new, new proximity with greatness.
If you want greatness to be a part of your life,
you got to get around greatness and do what greatness does.
Greatness sometimes is about proximity.
Where you're around getting in that environment,
getting around those people and life changes when your circle changes.
So how do you upgrade your circle?
You rise to the level of the conversations happening around you.
Are you, are you around people that are talking about other people?
Are you, are you around people that are talking about how they're going to take their game
to the next level?
What books that they're reading?
What things they're doing to level themselves up?
I had to cut off.
And it's not easy.
Like people underestimate this.
When I came into this business at 22,
I had to cut off so many of, of people that I grew up with,
so many people that I was hanging around,
not that they're bad people.
Just I had to cut myself off from the whole environment.
And I had to get, I had to move close to the fire.
I moved right, right by the office where all the people were at and the,
and I got right around the people that would push me to most.
Proximity to greatness elevates your standards of yourself and your expectations of yourself.
Right?
Like I'm, I'm in Pittsburgh right now and I just got back from Miami.
I landed this with people.
Miss got up four o'clock in the morning.
Little bit after four.
We had an early flight.
And I'm like, I don't want to skip this workout.
Wasn't my best workout, but got a little bit of time on the treadmill.
20 minute quick circuit on the shoulders, quick shower,
made sure everything was packed, tightened up,
going to get on the airplane land,
get dropped off right at the office,
spent some time.
And here I am taping, taping the podcast.
And man, I'll tell you, look it,
you might feel like you're in good shape and you're jacked in Pittsburgh.
And then you go to Miami.
Man, these people on a whole nother level, right?
And I can see how if you live there,
are you working out there being in that environment, man?
That's going to push you to eat a little bit different
and work a little bit harder because of the people that you're surrounded by
in your environment.
Momentum builds when your environment forces you to think bigger.
So can you force yourself out of your environment right now
if you're in a comfortable environment?
Can you get close to the fire?
Can you get close to greatness?
Can you get around people often that are pushing themselves?
Because reinvention, reinventing yourself requires walking away
from what's familiar because what's familiar
is probably what's limiting you.
The right environment can do more for you in six months
than being in the wrong environment in six years.
Every new level requires a new identity,
not just new effort.
And that's why people's like, what's the way I am?
I ain't dealing with that.
I ain't taking that shit or I'm a respondent this way
or whatever it is, what you know what it means?
Like you're gonna have to reinvent yourself a little bit
if you wanna level up.
You have to continuously reinvent yourself.
This is how you watch teams evolve or businesses evolve
or CEOs evolve and people that don't and they die,
they don't continuously reinvent themselves.
They stand on what got them to a certain place
and just say, this is the way I am.
Success is a series of upgrades.
Not a finish line.
I'm gonna do all these things and then I'm gonna stop.
Ambitious people just have a goal to continuously evolve
and continuously to get better until the day they die.
Reinvention comes from deciding you're done living
the same way year over year over year
and we're down to reinvent ourselves.
Breakthroughs don't happen on your schedule.
They happen when you're prepared for an opportunity
that all of a sudden presents itself.
Typically growth requires trust in and God's timing
but also being ready for anything
because sometimes God's timing ain't your timing
and so you gotta stay ready.
You know, we used to tell people,
you know, you ever hear people being
at the right place at the right time
and we would teach and talk about,
well, the way to guarantee that you're in the right place
at the right time is just always be at the right place
because if you're always in the right place sooner or later
that circle is gonna come back
and it's gonna be the right time
and you're standing right in that right place
and so now you made it be the right place
you made it be the right place at the right time
because you're always in the right place.
We're just waiting on the time.
And so that growth, yeah, it's gonna be God's timing,
God's plan, but you gotta be ready.
And so to me, opportunities appear
when you're disciplined and consistency meet readiness
or create yourself being ready
because the opportunity came around and you were ready.
Now we get to take it to the next level
because we were already doing that.
We had the vision and then we stuck with it.
We did the process.
We hung around the right people.
We got ourselves out of our environments
and our comfortable.
We made ourselves uncomfortable.
We got close to the fire.
We continued to level up and level up
and level up and create a new standard
and we applied discipline and consistency to our life
and then we got good,
but we're not gonna let good be good enough.
That's what people do is they wonder
why they start to go backwards
because they started to get comfortable.
They let good be good enough
and there is no stand the same.
You're either going forwards or you're going backwards.
You're either growing or you're dying.
And if you're gonna grow, you gotta constantly reinvent yourself.
All right, so I'm wishing you all this week
in this month and this year,
I'm wishing you all great opportunities.
I'm wishing you great outcomes.
But I just wanna encourage you
have your vision clear somewhere
and just pay the price of discipline and consistency
in your life and keep showing up
the way you need to show up in the process
on the discipline.
Here what I'm saying,
don't let this go in one ear and out the other.
Like audit yourself.
What do you need to do to discipline yourself,
to do the things that you need to do?
So you could stay ready to wait
that you need to stay ready
and create the opportunities as you continuously evolve
yourself and reinvent yourself
so you can go to the next level.
And then you know what you get
when you go to the next level,
you gotta go ahead and create a new level
that you're striving for
because we're either growing or we're dying.
And if you're listening to this,
that means that you're on growth mode probably.
