3 Steps To Using Competition To Achieve Your Goals
I’ve always been a competitor. It’s in my blood, it fuels my GRIND, and it’s greatly responsible for the success that I’ve had in life. In today’s post, I want to tell you how to approach your life as a competitor, and I can tell you from experience, it’s guaranteed to help you achieve your goals.
1. Know Your Competition
In any environment, work, school, sports, you first need to identify who the top performers are. Who is making the biggest plays? Who is experiencing the most success? That is your competition.
2. Keep Your Friends Close
We all know the saying, “Keep your friends close & your enemies closer.” I’m gonna switch that up a bit. Identify your “enemies” and make them your closest friends. By “enemies” I mean your competition that you identified in step 1, and I don’t literally mean you should view them as enemies. We want a sense of healthy competition here.
But once you’ve identified your competition, you need to learn from them. You become who you surround yourself with. RWTW! Roll With The Winners!
3. Outwork EVERYONE
You’ve identified your competition. You’ve befriended them and started learning from them. Now you just need to outwork them! Your competition may be more talented than you. They may have more experience than you. Those are things you can’t control, but what you can control is your work ethic.
Your competition is at the gym from 5am-6am every day? Be there at 4:30! Your competition puts in a 10 hour work day? Put in a 12 hour work day!
With these three steps and a competitive mindset, I can nearly guarantee you you’ll achieve your goals. Once you’ve passed up your competition, it’s time to start over again. Rinse, Wash, Repeat. Set bigger goals, find your new competition, and follow these three steps all over again.
