Get ready to do it.
New day.
What's up, gang?
Welcome to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
Simon here.
Let's dig into deleting distractions.
Okay?
Deleting distractions.
Now we're in a world.
We're in a world nowadays that is so easy to get distracted with all the technology
and the phones and all this stuff we need to start deleting distractions.
And so understand this.
One of the things I'm going to get into here soon is people.
Like deleting people and negativity out of your life in order to go to the next level.
Because I've said this before, if you have an upward call in life, there's always going
to be this downward craving in you.
That's a...
Like this upward call but this downward craving, that's enough to pull you apart.
Literally, if you don't know how to handle this stuff.
Like you want to go to the next level.
But in your heart, you're thinking, oh man, I come from this area.
I got to hang around my old friends.
I got to be loyal to these people.
So if I don't come back here and come back to them every once in a while and drink with
them and wrap with them and smoke with them and do this and that.
Like you have this pulling apart of man and I got to go...
I got this upward calling to go to the next level.
You have to understand that the only way for you to get up there is to delete distractions.
So I got a couple of things to give you tips on this.
One is, I heard a man say before, like if you're climbing to the top of Mount Everest
and you're going to go back and help other people get to the top.
Like you ever see the people that climb mountains, they just got like a little fanny pack
in a bag and some water, like some bare essentials.
Like we're not taking pictures of the dog.
We're not taking the dog up to mountain yet.
We're not taking fridge eraders.
Like we don't have room for all of that.
It's too heavy.
We can get killed on our way up here.
We have to just take the bare assent.
Like that's one thing.
You got to understand until you get there, you might have to loosen your weight up a little bit
in order to get to the top.
The second principle and the thing of this that makes sense to me is wise man.
I don't know if you guys ever seen this wise man.
His name is Snoop Dogg.
Snoop Dogg.
I remember watching his video on Snoop Dogg and he starts talking about he said, man,
I was starting to come up.
I was on my way up and I kept having people pulling me down.
So I kept going back because I felt bad.
I kept going back and I noticed that the only way to close this gap, like I was offering
them to get better.
I was giving them opportunities.
I was trying to bring him up with me, but they wouldn't do what it took to get up there.
So he said to only, I noticed the only way I was going to close this gap was for me to keep
going back down, being pulled down.
I had to stop and I had to do what I had to do.
So I'm telling you that one of the things you're going to have to delete from your life
from a distraction standpoint is negative influences, negative people.
Negative people, like I don't care if it's family members.
If there's somebody that's every time you're around them, it's just negative, negative,
negative negativity.
Like you just can't feed your vibe.
Like I can't feed the energy.
I can't do it.
I got too many other people dependent on me.
We are energetic beings.
Like we are energy.
That's what we are.
Energy.
I can't go give off and try to help the world and take it to the next level and have all
this negative energy.
So I just can't be around that.
And so you have to be man enough or woman enough to understand it may be friends.
It may be cousins.
It may be family members.
It may be whoever that negativity, whatever that we got to delete that.
And then we need to add on, okay, let's add some of the opposite.
Let's add some people that make you feel like give you the positive vibe that are positive
that are good for your life.
Like let's start here.
Like if you got five friends or five negative friends, delete two of them today, negative
and fill them up with two positive ones.
Like for real, we got to get cutthroat right now for going to the next level.
And so let's talk about, let me name a couple distractions and offer some solutions, you
know, possibly.
So here's some possible distractions, okay.
One can be family, okay, I'm going to have to be got to be how can we go to the next
level if we can't keep it real on here?
And some of these distractions maybe could be part family.
What do you mean by that?
Well, we don't know why you got to work so much or we don't know why you got to be out
this, or we don't know why or the family might be negative or like, you know, all the stuff
I was just going over with, even if they're your family and they're negative, if they're
doing something.
And I'm not saying this is my family.
I'm just saying period.
If there is any, no matter what it is, like you have to find a solution.
And eventually, these people that truly love you will understand.
Like there's some people I had to leave in my personal life years ago that now we've
had a chance to reconnect and plug in and they still have love and understand that they
understood and get it.
And so now we can, we can, like the people that are real will understand and those that
don't, you got to be okay with that.
They're in a circle like the friends that you hang around, like those people, same issues,
haters, haters.
Like you have to delete your focus on haters and what she said about me and what he said
about me and what this one thing, if you allow emotions in you to come up every time somebody
says something negative about you, you're never going to be in control of your life because
I can't control how many people have something negative to say about me, but I can control
how I receive it.
And so if I give them control over me, somebody has something negative to say and it gets
me down or gets me mad or gets me upset, then I start to give them control over my life.
So I want you to delete that aspect and go to like, who cares?
When it comes to focus and deleting distractions, I want you to look at, like look at your habits.
Like what are your habits and identify what habits you need, what habits you don't, you
don't need.
Like what are these habits that you have right now?
Start to look at your habits throughout the day and say, oh, there's one, you got to delete
that one.
You got to delete that, that's a distraction.
I'm saying I don't have no time, but I'm spending two hours on social media.
I'm saying I don't have no time to do this, but I'm playing two hours of a video game.
And I'm not saying these things are bad.
I'm saying if you're making excuses and you don't have time to do something and you start
to see you're distracted by all these other things, delete them, delete these things,
identify those habits that are good for you and the ones that are bad for you and start
to identify them and X them out.
Another thing I noticed that can be a distraction for people, emotions, emotions up and down,
up and down, up and down.
It's almost like the people, it's almost like the people that I was talking about the haters.
If you have an emotional reaction to everything that happens throughout the day, you're going
to be out of control.
I got news for you in a 24 hour day, not everything's going to go great.
In a seven day week, not everything's going to go great.
In a 30 day month, not everything's going to go great.
In a 365 day year, not every day is going to be great.
In a 12 month year, not every month is going to be great.
If you emotionally react to all of these things, you're going to be up and you're going
to be down.
Your team won, your up, team lost your down.
You lost a lot today.
You didn't produce tomorrow.
You're emotionally can't act like this.
I need you to delete that aspect of things.
Remove that part that's losing your focus.
I want you to shut off and work on it.
Seizeere said the done, especially if you're an emotional person.
I'm an emotional person by nature, so I get emotional.
This one I still wouldn't give myself an A at.
I may be giving myself a C plus right now, but I was an F before.
I'm trying to break the law.
Maxwell says you can only get somebody to go up two levels in something.
Johnny, I'm going from an F2 and A.
We're going to work on this.
We're going to go from an F2 and A with the emotions.
You can't let your emotions get the best of you.
Start focusing on how do I start to delete these issues that create these emotions and
start to allow my emotions to control me.
But there's all these things in life that will start to distract you, that are going to
be around you.
At the end of the day, they don't matter.
They don't matter.
Distractions always are going to keep popping up.
How are you going to handle those things when they do is the key?
Let me give you an example.
One of my best friends in the world, Marcus Smith, okay?
Single dad, running multiple businesses.
If it deathly, like my life was on, depending on it, I said, listen, bro, I got to talk to
you today at 1 o'clock.
He'd do it.
We'll find a way to do it.
But if he has a plan in the schedule, already mapped out, laid out.
If I want to text him and say, hey, give me a call right now at 10 o'clock.
If he's working out, he's not answering it.
Like when I work out, I'm not on my phone.
I'm not like some people think it's multitasking.
I think it's a distraction.
You have to be able to, like if Marcus is working out, he's not answering the phone for
me.
Not answering a text message, okay?
If we have a schedule set that the day is already mapped out and planned, I'm supposed
to be doing this.
I'm supposed to be meeting with this person.
Like if my mom's calling me and I'm meeting with three people to develop them, unless it's
an emergency, I'm not answering it.
That's a distraction right now.
I'm going to call you at four.
I'm going to call you at five.
I'm going to call you at seven in the morning, whatever.
There's all these things that will pop up, the more successful you get, the busier you
get.
So the more successful you get, the better you got to get it planning and deleting distractions
and staying focused.
Identify these things that are distractions and delete them.
Are they negative for your life?
Are this going to help you?
Is it going to hurt you?
What is it saying on your schedule?
You're supposed to do.
Stick to that.
Focus on something else later.
Not everything is fricking urgent right now.
Not every Facebook message, not every Instagram message.
Not every text message that somebody sends you is urgent right now.
Like my man Jim Trussell, coach Trussell, my mentor, my guy.
I know if I need him right now, he'd be there.
Find a way.
But listen, if I text him today, he might not respond till tomorrow.
If I call him and he got a bunch of stuff on his plate, he might not call me back till
Tuesday.
Sometimes I'm the same way because if you start trying to get around, everybody can't be
urgent.
Everything can't be urgent.
Everything that you do can't be urgent.
So you have to look at what's important right now.
That's how you win.
W-I-N, what's important now?
Like, what do we need to do right now?
What's urgent right now?
What's the top 20?
What are these activities that are going to generate the best results?
Talk 20% of what you do.
It's going to give you 80% of the results.
Like one of those things, give your focus to that.
And then when you get around to all the other stuff, get around to it.
Schedule things.
Stick to that schedule.
Stick to that plan.
Okay.
But I'm going to tell you one thing right now, if you get better an inch at a time, an
inch daily, 12 inches happen over 12 days.
That's a foot.
Almost three feet in a month.
Almost 36 feet over the course of a year.
That's just an inch daily.
Like if you think somebody's not getting an edge on you, that's not getting distracted
when they're reading, not getting distracted when they're listening to this podcast, not
getting distracted what are working out, not getting distracted while somebody's coaching
them, not getting, like, if you think these people, they're getting inches on you every
single day because you're getting distracted.
15 minutes on social media.
15 minutes on responding to this.
15, all of a sudden you lost an hour and a game to an hour.
You really separated about two hours.
Up one down one, two hours separated us now.
Understand.
And I've said this before, deleting distractions is a habit of success.
If you develop the habits of success, you will make success a habit.
I want you to start focusing on what's important now.
What's not important, don't worry about it.
What's going to help you get to the next level?
If it's hurting you, stop doing it.
It ain't personal.
If it's hurting you, stop doing it.
If they're not helping you and they're making you worse, cut them off.
You ever hear that quote?
Starve your distractions and feed your focus.
You can't do big things if you're distracted by small things.
Like everybody wants to do big things.
You can't do big if you're distracted by small.
I want you to find your vision that keeps you on fire like your purpose.
What's the target?
What's the goal?
And if you keep your eyes on that, then you're not going to resort to and feed into all these
distractions.
Like your...
If you're staying busy and zoned in on what you got to do moving forward, you won't have
time in order to get distracted.
The most important question is not what am I getting, but who am I becoming on this journey
in this process is going to be the key.
So I appreciate you guys giving me the investment of your time today.
Hopefully this stuff helped.
Let's delete some distractions.
Let's feed our focus this upcoming week.
If you guys could do me a favor, hopefully at this point we would be able to crack the
top 50.
We've been, I think, number 67 out of all the podcasts right now.
If you can help me out, subscribe.
Make sure that you're sharing this with other people.
If you find value, not asking you to endorse something, you don't believe it.
But if you believe in it, do me a favor and share this and don't cost you nothing.
It's free.
Share this with everybody else so we can share and help to change and adjust and grow
