The Golden Rule: Treat Others As You Would Want To Be Treated.
We’ve all heard it before, but are you able to live by The Golden Rule? When you can get to a place where you’re operating by the golden rule, you’ll be surprised on the impact it will have in your life. We’re all human, but we tend to judge ourselves on our intentions and judge everyone else on their actions.
Put yourself in the other person’s shoes. How would you want to be treated?

Count money, man, money, man.
I'm trying to talk, trying to talk to my beast, but
What's up, gang?
Welcome to another episode of The Grindcast.
Get ready.
It's a new day.
We got a quick one for you today.
Simple.
St. The first time we've heard this,
operating by the Golden Rule.
We're all human.
We're all human.
We fall short.
We're not perfect.
That's why we need forgiveness.
We're all human.
We need to try to judge less and love more.
But we're human and it's hard to do.
But the closer you can get to operating on the Golden Rule,
the better things are going to be in life.
And so I've been reading the law of success by Napoleon Hill.
Again, reread that one.
And it just was reminding me on how important the Golden Rule is
and how simple that it is, but how hard it is to execute.
But it can impact your life so much.
And that Golden Rule is real simple.
And I notice people out there that,
let me tell you about the Platinum Rule.
Let me tell you about this rule and all that.
I really like them all.
I like all the other rules that they got
in the Diamond Rule and all the other rules.
But getting back to the fundamentals and the basics,
it ain't about how sexy we can name the rule.
It's about can you just execute?
Let me see you execute the Golden Rule
and then move to the Platinum Rule.
Like, let me see some people that can say,
oh, no, this girl right here, she kills the Golden Rule.
Or he kills the Golden Rule.
For you, start talking about the Platinum Rule.
Let me see you do the Golden Rule.
The Golden Rule is to treat people the way that you would want
to be treated in that circumstance.
Let's start there.
And I get the next level from there is we got to treat people
even better than we would expect them to treat us
or better than they would do for us.
I think that is a great, that is just a great place to be in life
when you can get there.
But for now, let's just, the Golden Rule, very simple.
Anytime you're put into a situation to act,
trade places with that person and pretend that it were you.
Not how you were raised.
So like, sometimes people which, those struggle
with the Golden Rule because, well, I would never say that.
Or I would never do that.
Or I would never.
So first, put yourself in the other person's shoes.
But think about how they were raised
and where they come from to make them act that certain way.
Would you really not do that?
How about you were raised and I'm just giving example.
I'm not knocking anybody.
I'm just, just, let me give a simple example.
How about you were raised with two decent parents,
roof over your head, safe, secure, decent school system?
Okay.
Decent grandparents, nothing too crazy.
Lower middle class, middle income, whatever.
Did weren't on your deathbed or you didn't know it.
But you maybe didn't have a ton, but you had all the necessities.
And then another person, they're born to one parent, single parent home, poverty, no money,
brings access to a bunch of different people in an environment around you,
where maybe it's similar to an animal in a jungle, where yeah, there's police officers.
But by the time you get to the police officer, the tiger ate you.
By the time you get to the zookeeper, the lion had you for lunch,
the shark already ripped you to shreds.
And so I would never act like that.
I would never do that.
Well, until somebody's
threatening your life and you know it's a real threat
in the police ain't going to do nothing for you.
Or I'm born in a single parent home and a single parent that's there is struggling.
Maybe they're a good person with their own drugs or their own alcohol.
And they're a little bit abusive.
And you go to school and it's not safe there.
There's problems all the time.
You don't feel safe at home because there's crime all the time.
Single parent home, not there all the time.
And now you're older and you're 15, 16, and you do something stupid.
And people look at you and say, what a crappy kid.
Trash.
I would never do that.
I would never steal.
I would never say that.
I would never talk to somebody like that.
No, because your grandma taught you better and your mom and dad and your good school system.
But if you were raised like this,
Tiger that just got out of the jungle,
you'd be not knowing how to function in civilization either because the tiger I'm used to
needing a hunt for stuff.
And nobody's smiling at me and people running from me or people trying to hunt me.
And so part of the golden rule is to put yourself in another person's shoes,
not your own shoes, how you were raised.
But just put yourself in that other person's shoes.
It'll help you.
You know, maybe not be as frustrated with somebody in traffic
because you don't know what they might be going through.
Or the lady that's a little bit grouchy behind the
counter of the food station or wherever you're at.
Like just what if you were in that person's shoes,
how would you want somebody to treat you?
If like here's one, when it comes to charity functions and stuff,
running charity functions, man, getting into this world of the non-profit world is like
people have no idea until you get in it.
It is thankless and hard as hell.
And rewarding as shit, just like everything else in life.
But when we put on these charity functions and fundraisers, man, it's like planning a wedding.
It's a lot.
And it's stressful.
And everybody buys tickets the last second.
Everybody gets them the last week.
So we're in a mad panic.
Try planning a wedding and everybody not RSVP until the week of.
So what I've learned to do is if I'm asked or called upon
for certain charity things that I already know I'm going to be a part of or I don't wait till the last
second.
I'll be the first one.
Let me be the first one to buy the table.
Let me be the first one to do this.
Not last.
And so that's just one example because I'm put myself in the other person's shoes.
How often can you put yourself right now in other people's shoes?
How would you want someone to act towards you if the role of a reverse?
Understanding that even for the selfish, like even for we're all selfish at heart, right?
So understanding even for people just for the selfish reasons, if you understand and learn
that whatever you sew, you'll also reap at another time.
Can motivate you to do the right thing for others.
It may not be repaid right then and there.
But it'll come back around.
It may not always be returned by that person or immediately,
but it'll come back if you can stay committed to the role.
Practicing the golden rule starts with your thoughts
in your words about everyone, even people that you dislike.
It's not easy.
We're human, but I'm saying just pay attention.
Are you talking shit about other people all the time?
Comes around, goes around.
We all have negative thoughts.
Recognize those thoughts and choose to focus on positive things instead.
This will create a positive feeling in general
creating a positive feeling from an initially negative thought is a big turnaround.
It's like an interception in a game where the team was about to score a touchdown
and you were going to go down seven, but you intercepted it and scored the other way.
Now you're up 14 points.
When your thoughts and your words are positive about everybody else,
it becomes easy to treat other people well with your actions.
Let's try to start with this upcoming week,
with this in mind and practice the golden rule.
Even when others may not do it for you,
we're going to go out here to the ground cast community out here,
and I'll be with you.
We should start something logs or a list of people that are listening,
and maybe it's not this, but we pick something
where we really focus on our diet that week,
or we really focus on the golden rule that week, and we say,
all right, everybody just shout us out, tag us.
When you know that you recommitted to the golden rule,
and maybe you normally wouldn't have pleasure,
golden rule function or your positive deed or something,
we don't have to do it right now, but I was just thinking
how do we get our community together a little bit,
and let's all link up because I know that every time I meet people
that I haven't met before at different events, they're saying,
man, I listen to the ground cast, this is impacted my life,
and I've never met these people when I'm thinking, man,
there's a lot of people that I've never even met that are listening,
which I'm grateful for.
And the second thing is, man, why don't we just,
how do we just get everybody together and get on something,
and let's do something together and see how we can bring that community together a little bit?
But speaking of which, if you could share this help,
then anybody share it with somebody that we can impact together,
and we'll keep growing this thing and keep impacting other people.
Thanks for joining us on another episode of the ground cast,
get ready us a new day.
